"thank you for the blessings"
"thank you for the blessings, our beast god ROGNIR"
The earthly feasting festival finished around dusk.
They got more than four hours to rest before they started the next step of the festival.
-cpyuk-
-splash-
Shanti washed her face at the well near the plaza. The fresh and cold sensation felt so nice for her skin.
"-fuuh- it was going well... i hope they get all what they wish for .. at least, that the only thing that we can do for them..." Her ears were down
-plak-
"no, i can't be like this.."
She wiped her face with her small towel and headed to the elder house.
Most of the villager used their time to sleep and rest in their house, so the village was quite empty at the outside.
"good work Shanti"
The elder welcomed her at the door.
"I hope it was decent enough.... my dance"
-pat-
She got a pat on the head by Mugha. He told her to go inside the house.
"you did an excellent performance Shanti"
"I'm glad then" She smiled
They gathered at the guest room and sat there. The situation was silent for few minutes.
"so... what's your wish Mugha?"
"hm, Shanti, you shouldn't ask that before the time"
"I can't help it, I'm really curious about that"
"ahaha, why tho?" He laughed
"i never see you have any interest with anything. Not with woman, food, fighting, hunting... mmm" Her forehead became wrinkled
"since she mentioned it... i also don't know anything about your hobby or interest..." The elder responded
"not you too father" Mugha shook his head
"but it's true my son. I have never found you doing something... ordinary, for your age"
"well...i have my duty, so.."
"-sigh- seems i have failed as your father... no, as both of your father"

"me? why am i included in this situation?" Shanti felt confused
The elder only looked at them with his old and tired expression. Both of them, Mugha and Shanti, were totally never doing a normal thing that the other people did since they were little.
They were too serious. That's the problem. Both of them took their duty above anything else.
"both of you truly are sibling. There's no doubt about it" He sighed
"elder... why do i feel that your words just now is...mocking us?" Shanti protested
"of course father. Shanti is my proud and cute little sister" Mugha replied
"mmm, Mugha, that is not the right response for this situation" She looked at him
"is that so? i don't get it"
"haha! see! this is the proof! then let me ask you something"
The elder took his breath and continued his words.
"Mugha, have you ever take a break during your time as the leader of the fighter?"
"...no need father. What kind of leader who take a break while doing his duty?"
"then... Shanti, have you ever take a break during your duty as our shaman?"
"what kind of shaman who leave her duty to serve our beast god ROGNIR?"
Right after she finished her sentence, they realized something. Both of them were giving the same answer.
"Shanti... why did you repeat my answer?"
"what do you mean Mugha? i only said what was in my mind...."
They were silent and the elder gave his response to it.
"look at you. Both of you are really attractive, yet none of you have a partner" He pointed at them
"don't be so unreasonable father. Our duty won't allow us to have a partner" Mugha replied
"-sigh- you're not born to become the leader of fighter... Shanti, you also are not obligated to become our shaman..."

"both of you are not interested to find a partner. That's why"
They couldn't respond to that. It's useless trying to tell a lie to their father but something unexpected happened.
"but father, I've heard you got married only because mother yelled at you"
"huh? Mugha, is that true? I've never heard about it before" Shanti got curious
"heeb...hahahaha!! now now, my son. I didn't think you could talk back to me like that"
-tok-
-tok-
He knocked his staff to the floor. His almost cried from laughing. He couldn't help himself but remembered about that event that happened more than twenty years ago.
"yes, you're right my son. That day, your mother approached me while i was doing my duty... people were looking at us. She shouted at me while crying... she said.."
Both of them waited him to finish his story.
"-ehem- she shouted.. "YOU STUBBORN HALF-BEAST!! IF YOU'RE NOT MARRYING ME RIGHT NOW, I WILL MARRY GARRY INSTEAD!!"
They didn't expect that kind of situation. They couldn't help but laughed at it.
"gahahaha!! father, is that really true?! i can't believe mother could yell at the unwavering Garga!!"
"huuff, ahaha! I'm sorry elder, i just... can't imagine that will happen to you" Shanti closed her mouth with her hand
The elder leaned back and closed his eyes.
"yes, i also didn't expect that kind of situation... fighting twenty beast would be easier than facing your mother in that kind of state" He sighed
"i agree father" Mugha nodded
"but wait.... Garry? he is Barry's father right? Mugha, you almost become Barry's brother!" She laughed
"....hmm, i prefer to have a smart little sister rather than... simpleton brother like Barry"
They laughed for awhile and continued their conversation. It's been a while since they had this nice conversation as a family. Even though it happened at the ironic time, they were enjoying it.
The earthly feasting festival.... continued.

The Book of Rune
If you like moderately well-researched semi-medieval military logistics with some fantasy twists, and also conspiracy, and exploration, and violence, and maybe a dash of road movie, hey, Ruen just might be your thing. Plot-wise, basically there's a guy who got fired by Death, a kid with pyrotechnic tendencies, and a slave general who wouldn't mind retiring but ended up on a mass suicide mission. If you were looking for a less TL;DR version, a guy who got fired by Death meets a kid with pyrotechnic tendencies, and they try to get the guy un-fired while also trying to come to terms with death together (ooohhhh, look, I'm deep). Meanwhile a slave general does something stupid and ends up being sent on a suicide mission, and he tries to wreak havoc and save lives at the same time. The threads come together, I swear. This is a rough draft of a fantasy semi-book that I've had in the back of my head for some time. I've written a variety of short stories set in the world over the past three years, and I finally kicked myself into writing the actual story. Very much a slow work in progress. Occasional violence (okay, well, maybe more than occasional), occasional foul language.
