《Optabilis Mundo: Shroud of Black Resort》Prelude - Reset

The view around Mirai Shizuku had gone dark. Absence of luminous objects frightened her, although she stepped on a normal, strange floor with her sole, perceptible body; however, her naked body was surprising for her to see.
"What's going on?"
Mirai voiced out her troubled look. She strolled around like there was nothing to specify where she stepped on. It was an infinite loop with one dimension reigning over this space.
The place was blank — nothing to describe more at all.
"If this place is fitted for dead people like me, then I can enjoy my desires as much as I please."
Her body felt fiery around her. Her curvaceous hips wiggled around as the heat blended within her womb. She palmed her abdomen to detect what was happening inside her. She couldn't feel the sweat breaking out from her body.
"It seems like I'm in a gateway of death."
Her death caused her curious presence. She couldn't remember before she went here, but the empty of tangible sense showed how this place was spiritually true — but only her fiery feeling picked her to the wake of sole perception.
She scratched her head while continuously looking down on her bottom part.
"Maybe I'm the only soul here."
The surrounding solitude pierced through the break of gloomy brink.
Mirai had to wait until someone appeared before her.
"Well. Looks like I have found myself," someone not from Mirai echoed out before her.
A gray-haired female humanoid body with a pair of goat horns and bat wings — Succubus — appeared before her. The fiery aura filled around her bold body. With a reddish blush entirely on her body, the result showed in front of Mirai's witness — her face drew its frightened reaction.
"Telling you for a further truth about its actuality would ruin your presence, so I'll just hand you out some bit of basic knowledge."
Succubus came closer to her and rubbed her chin with her slick, warm fingers. Her urge signalled the lustful eyes. Her control was infinitely beyond what Mirai could feel similarly. The sympathy between them correlated to each other — which was the reason for her close observation.
Succubus gave her response, "He he~ Never have I guess that you're truly worth of my taste."
Mirai shuddered from her, "Wait, are you going to eat me?"
"Silly of you, do you think I am the succubus with a similar appetite to the ghouls?"
Succubus dreaded her as Mirai hesitated back from her. Although the succubus gave her the smile, Mirai thought over her attempt to tease.
"Don't tell me you will ruin me with your clever jokes?"
"You guessed it right!"
She winked, knowing that Mirai got her intuition.
Mirai didn't intend her to feel the same way, but the purpose of her existence served her as the guide to where she might step in front of her conscious presence. She flew around with her bat wings to inspect every inch of her body. Her eyes rolled around while Mirai gave herself no shame to give an excuse.

"I would say that you're pretty unique in distinct ways compared to other normal women."
"What do you expect?"
"The future will tell… not me."
Succubus gave her more tease; however, she wanted to end it since the time might have concluded with short duration. She fidgeted around while Mirai stood still to focus on her upcoming message.
"So let me say this… is this some announcement that I will be this prophet… or disciple… or whatever you might mean to me you will eventually give me some purpose to handle with the other world?"
"Well yes, but actually not. I will not announce to you like 'You will be the prophet of the next world' or what?, but I'm giving you a brief explanation of how something works within yourself."
"Uh-huh. But I can sense the similarity."
"No. Not like that, you silly! I'll merely give you some knowledge for your understanding."
"Understanding?"
Mirai shook her head to wake her up in a close focus.
"So what understanding do you mean? Are you going to give me a lecture with mere keywords to provide me such?"
"If your flesh and blood returned to your soul, I will say that you can owe me whatever you want, whenever you want."
Mirai puzzled around her statement. Her comprehension from the succubus went down to make her eyes narrowing all around. This kind of share confused her if Mirai herself couldn't adapt to what was going wrong about her. She tapped her foot around while the succubus waited for her response. She thought about the context between her and the succubus.
Mirai stepped closer towards her, "So you say that there is something troubling you around. You try to sound stupid even though your intentions are stupid, or maybe since you're beyond the world I see enough, you possessed something more sufficient than I am."
"Don't reveal my answers if you're in the dead's realm."
Succubus sighed over her mistaken guess while Mirai palmed her breast to experiment with her tangible feeling, and it reacted similarly when she had her physical body. The correlation between her flesh and soul could reach what it supposed.
"There is a thing called metaphysics, and your body which you are right now is metaphysical since you're presented in a time-and-space realm."
"So do the philosophers know your knowledge?"
Succubus shrugged, "Who knows? What kind of human will know something beyond its ideal nature? Even religions might jump to their conclusion."
Mirai nodded, "Maybe I feel appreciated toward my doubtful neutrality."
Mirai knew her guts. Despite having forgotten her previous memory, she could sense that she did the right thing. It wasn't because her belief in logic could suffice her, but it was her self-actualization. She believed in her own guts. Her judgment on actions had accepted what her purpose in a previous life — her favor on sewing designs was the example.

Succubus reverted to their conversation, "I hope your thoughtful reflection is enough for our share. Now, let's proceed to our procedure."
"..."
Mirai nodded and kept focus on the succubus.
"Sorry for being late to say…. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Valentine… or in short, Vally. I'm the succubus spirit living within you. I had the symbol called votum. If you want to question me further, then please me with your curiosity."
Succubus named Vally bowed her head, serving herself as a respect to Mirai. Although Mirai didn't deserve any formality, she would merely leave it, anyway.
"Okay… explain why you stalk me?"
Vally puffed her cheeks to contradict her conceptual question.
"Or in other concepts, why do I exist for you?... I am the succubus spirit who is represented as 'you' in the beginning. Yes, we coexist together to blend ourselves like milk and coffee. If it does, it will become more satisfying regarding taste. That's my analogical say… What I truly mean is not about teamwork, but it's about our identity. If this particular law doesn't exist, then I would say something that reminds you before you lose your physical memory. That said, it goes another way. I try to figure out why we tied together like a string of stems with some kind of tumor that blocks our correlation away… but hey, I can still talk to you."
"So is it because of correlating things that we have together for now?"
"Yes, something like that. I didn't force you to die from your previous world, but you rather forced yourself to just get over it."
"Get over it?"
"That's a long story, so back to your second concern."
Mirai thought excessively about her statement, but she ignored it and instead put it into her hippocampus. Thinking about it, her memory from the previous world had lost from her metaphysical self. However, her personal information had completely kept with no instances to ruin her self-identity. If that could happen, then it might cause Vally to walk out from her sight.
Mirai finally planned her second question to Vally.
"Why have I only known my personal information without knowing what I had done during my previous life?"
Vally smirked fancifully, "You can think of it as your self-identity. It can be either received from your previous parents or from yourself that insisted upon them to name their baby… or you. Whoever or whatever you want, you get accustomed to keep your identity. If otherwise, it might also affect your personality to differ."
"..."
"Furthermore, I would like to introduce to you a thing that has filled with your full, previous memory. As the law of conservation of mass said, no matter can be created nor destroyed, but it remains constant till a tiny speck won't visually exist with your naked eye. I present to you… Data!"
Vally handed out a diamond-like, orb-shaped object with gleaming sprinkles. Although it looked like it was something fragile, the actuality about it was even far beyond what it looked like.
"This stuff is related to your previous experiences in your 'original' world. It is neither as fragile as glass nor durable as diamond. Just think of it like a single atom that never breaks in thousands of chemical reactions."
Mirai dazzled around the object as she faced closer to it. Vally smiled, knowing that it was her asset all along.
Vally continued her discussion, "With this object, I'll just keep it under my own inventory. Even though it is your asset, it is also my asset. In other words, we have licensed together… no, not literally licensed."
Mirai toyed with her head as her puzzling mind bothered from harking her lecture. She couldn't understand what was going on around, but her being as a human caused it.
"Anyway, looks like you know something essential for you. Trusting me is our share of favor for now and later."
"..."
"Lastly, sealing your memory data will consequently affect your physical mind once you reach back to your body which is only a dreadful thing for you. Although your skills can be kept inside your brain of yours, redoing your talent can only lead to nostalgic feelings.. I merely seal some previous memory data of your previous world, not erasing."
Mirai thought about resetting her memory. Since the laws applied to her, it would be her fate to come along with her to another conscious world. Thinking about it, Vally was setting a trip for her in all.
The difference awaited her. Vally caught her instinctively since Mirai chose this from the beginning — although she couldn't identify its actuality.
Vally concluded her statement, "Looks like I finished my lecture to you, if you have any other questions, just call my name 'Vally', and I'll give you some bit of information. Oh, by the way, no irrelevance… even though something will happen to you in a meantime."
Mirai nodded with a wary smirk. She thought bidding her farewell would do the same to her original world. She hoped that Vally would guide her to something worth perilous, yet tranquil.
Returning her body with a shroud of identity, she got plans to revise her journey.
However, Vally requested her a bit as she sensed something odd beyond her expectations.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Can I borrow your consciousness for a bit? At least, we have a share of our persona…. Because it will be bloody as hell."
It was inevitably too late, but Vally could catch her aim in a bit of grasp.

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
