Kon. Kon.
"You ready in there?" I ask.
...
"I'm coming in."
I walk into Sutoria's designated dressing room at the city hall. She's at the mirror, looking at her reflection. A reflection showing a face with a mess made from her makeup. Makeup ruined by tears.
"You can't go out there looking like that!" I say cheerfully, mimicking my usual personality at her concerts.
"Stay away!" Sutoria yells.
I stop for a second, then continue. When I get to her, I pick up her makeup kit and start to clean up her face.
"I won't act innocent anymore, but it pains me to still see someone I trust like this." I lie. "Deal or no deal, you still have a duty to those out there. To them, and to your family."
She flinches at the last thing I say.
"You said you'd do this for them, no?"
She remains silent.
"You know what the plan is?"
"I sing one song while everyone arrives, then let my fa...Mr. Wave...no...I..."
"Continue." I jump in.
"Sorry. Mr. Wave does a sponsorship speech, then I continue with my concert as usual."
"Correct."
"Tell me...am I just a form of income to you?"
"One part of me says 'yes' while the other says 'no'. Believe what you want."
"And my family? They'll be safe?"
"Do as I say, and they'll be fine."
She looks away from me.
"Think of this as one of your many concerts. That's all I ask."
She weakly nods.
(And if any Keisetsu members try to sneak in, the yakuza guys will slow them down.)
Kon. Kon.
"Come in!" I yell.
A young man walks in.
"Ms. Diva-da, you're on!"

(And so it begins.) I think.
Sutoria leaves and heads out onto the stage. A true stage that puts theatres in the First Age to shame. Most of the seats, including the balcony ones, filled with fans who look too happy to suspect anything. Seems the surprise announcement didn't affect the attendance.
Of course, some of my men are in the audience, ready for Ken's speech, carrying guns with bullets tainted with my poison.
"Good evening, everyone!" Sutoria shouts in her "cheerful" demeanor.
"YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"
"Thank you all for attending my concert on such short notice! I am truly blessed to have such diehard fans! As always, I will sing a song just for you while we wait for more to arrive for the main event!"
She creates some clones from her rhime, and begins to sing Young London's "Broken". While the audience doesn't mind, it's clear to me that she's still in a somber mood, judging by this music selection.
But that doesn't matter. One more song, and everything will be over. While I didn't get all I desired, obtaining the hospital's wealth will still suffice. Then I can return to Besuro and continue the plan. And...I can continue my own plan.
(It's almost over. It's almost over.)

Blood Seekers -- The Monolith
Blood Seekers - Book 1, is now on Amazon, including the final chapters not posted here! https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07MYJ5ZRC “You will die!” That's what the developers of Blood Seekers promised them... The most challenging MMO ever created—that’s how they advertised it. Taglines like, “Not your granddaddy’s game,” and, “Only for the hardest of the hardcore,” had gamers going crazy. Set in a gothic, Lovecraftian world, with fully realized A.I. NPCS, gamers were desperate to get their hands on the new game and dive in, and Clay was one of them. It was going to be tough, but he was ready for it. What he wasn’t ready for, was countless players having their minds hijacked and being transformed into mindless, hostile creatures filled with nothing but hate who killed anyone on sight. They called them the Bloodless. Clay’s best and only friend, Rey, moved across the country she was twelve, but they kept in touch online, playing countless games together, and when Blood Seekers was released, they were both ready to step up to the plate and face the new challenge together. But now, Rey has been taken by the plague, her mind held hostage as one of the Bloodless. A mysterious black monolith has appeared at the center of the highest level zone in the game, a place no one has even come close to. Some say it will provide us with answers. Others say it will only lead to more questions. Who’s behind all this? Why are people’s minds being taken? Will we ever get to bring them back? How many more will be lost if we stay logged in? Nothing is certain, but if there’s any chance that reaching the monolith will bring Rey back back, then Clay will do everything he can to reach it. This is Book 1 in a new series from Stephen Roark! I will be posting chapters here until the book is done and published on Amazon!

8 186The Cursed Imperial Heart
In a world divided into different social classes, a nameless girl starts her journey rather tiring than most kids. Abandoned by her parents, she became a servant at a very young age to a wealthy noble family--the Brotillon, a family of powerful water elementals. Whose head is a well known Viscount. Though the girl was born with shiny brown hair and sparkling brown eyes, it was for that reason that she became a laughing stock to those around her. With no one to turn to for support, she swore to learn how to use magic no matter what! But as each day goes by, the beatings and humiliation got worse and worse. Finally had enough, she lashed out screaming! Done with the world she lived in! Done with her life! Only to faint out of exhaustion afterwards. Upon opening her eyes, she expected nothing more than an empty room with no one inside but her. However, it was the opposite! A room full off doctors and worried faces?! Indeed, she must have hit her head so hard when she fainted! She's probably just hallucinating, right?! But to her shock, it was all real! The Viscount who constantly beat her, patted her on the head?! The mistress who ridiculed her every chance she got, was worried?! Not just that, but----CRYING?! This continued for the next few weeks, and it looked like the 'situation' won't be stopping anytime soon. But she of all people knew, that it was all an act. But the question is, why? She screamed and lashed out at them, so why? Or perhaps, what she really needs to be asking are.... What REALLY happened before she fainted? What are they hiding from her? And lastly, Why are they suddenly interested in her eyes?
