《LEUR: The Unsung Tales》Chapter 80: Battle in the Council Chamber

Azeen grips the dagger tightly, eyeing each of her foes carefully. "We really shouldn't fight, darlings. Perhaps I can persuade you to back down, talk about this, maybe over dinner and a glass of wine?" Even as she speaks, she takes a defensive stance.

Hope snorts, feeling her limbs begin to stiffen under the woman's gaze before she shakes the sensation off. "Not a chance, murderess." Pouring some water from a flask into her hand, she clenches her fist. The bodies of her companions seem to light temporarily with a golden aura as she grasps Valkyrie tightly. "Alright, partner. Let's put you through your paces." The blade gleams, and the party is enveloped in a second aura similar to the ward Amadeo has projected before.

As the wizard looks into Azeen's eyes, his body tenses up, feet and legs turning partially to stone. "How the hell do you fight this?" He runs a strip of cured leather over his form, the ethereal armor appearing along his familiar ward.

"How am I supposed to know?!" Anna asks, her feet beginning to petrify before she slams them down, the stone crumbling away. She throws a piece of coal in Azeen's direction, a sphere of darkness coalescing around the woman as the elf grins widely. "Woo! That's what that feels like?"

"You witch! I'll slaughter you first!" comes the cry from the sphere as Tyrion aims his crossbow. Feeling no ill effects, he takes a wild guess. "I think it's based on vision! If she can't see us or we can't see her, no rocky road!" He fires, and though the bolt goes wide and misses Azeen, it ricochets off the wall behind her and comes back around to strike in her back. The gasp of pain makes him grin. "Ha! Got her!"

There comes a hiss from the darkness, and the serpentine eyes of Azeen peer out before she lunges toward Anna. The two slices of her dagger miss, though her snake hair lashes out, biting parts of the elf's face. Anna screams out of sheer surprise in addition to the hurt as poison fills her veins, the arcane aura dissipating. "Ida gosa, nebrenya!" The elf shouts, covering her face.

"That's not polite, little she-elf." Azeen smirks before Hope brings Valkyrie around in a sweep, shrugging off the petrification even as she carves a slice of flesh off the woman, blue blood spraying out across blade. "Leave her alone, you ugly little witch."

Azeen glares at the tiefling, rounding to face her. "Fine. I'll make a meal of you first."

Amadeo wills his body forward, the stone around his lower half shattering and crumbling away as he moves into Azeen's reach. "Thanks for the previous offer, but you're not my type." A rumbling sound echoes in the room, each of his hands gathering energy before he claps them together and a wave of thunder bursts forth, pushing Azeen backward into the sphere of darkness.

Anna holds off the petrification, her eyes flaring with holy light as she extends a hand toward the woman, ethereal glowing chains binding them together. "You can't hide from me, nebrenya!" She flings two blasts of rainbow force, each zooming into the darkness and connecting with solid thuds, the chains glowing vibrantly.

Tyrion aims another shot, landing true once again. A blast of wind follows the bolt, pushing Azeen back. "Come on, just go down, wicked woman!"

Azeen chuckles. "Oh, is that all you desire, my sweet?" There's a shimmer of light as something shatters. The hexing light and the sphere of darkness dissipate, vanishing into the aether as Azeen glares at them. "I could have shown you the most wonderous pleasures. Now I will show you a world of exquisite pain!" She springs toward Tyrion, her hairs lashing out to cover him in bites.

"Bloody Hells!" He steps back, blood dripping from his fresh wounds as Hope swings wildly. Azeen ducks beneath the blade, stepping close to the devilkin and planting a deep kiss on her lips.

Hope's utter disgust is matched only by Azeen's absolute delight. "Aww, the poor dear's never known the touch of a woman. Too bad it's the last good thing you'll feel."

"Shut up!" The wizard's fingers ignite, sending a sparking bolt of flame outward that, in his rage, Azeen dodges with relative ease. Anna reaches out for Tyrion with one hand to heal him, flinging another two blasts at Azeen that each catch her in the stomach and chest.

Tyrion sizes the woman up, stepping back for better aim even as the snake hair strikes at him again. His bolt finds purchase, catching in Azeen's side and tearing through her stomach.

Azeen gasps, holding the wound. Eyeing her cloak, she limps toward it. Hope takes the opportunity to swing at the woman, infusing Valkyrie's blade with a brilliant light that leaves a radiant burn across Azeen's back. "Running away, are you?"

The woman snarls, throwing the cloak over herself and wincing. "Silence! You will not take me down! I've lived too long to be taken out by the likes of you!" She releases the clasp of the cloak, revealing a cape underneath that smells faintly of brimstone, brilliant scarlet with gold trimming. "I'll see you all again, my darlings." The bottom of the cape begins to smoke.

"Hope, stop her! She's trying to escape!" Amadeo readies another spell as Hope brings the blade of Valkyrie down upon Azeen, slicing her back open. "You're not getting away, bitch! I'll drag you to the Hells myself if I have to!"

"You wish, little devil. But no one's getting my soul just yet." Azeen grasps the edge of the cape just as Amadeo lets slip his spell. An arcane web flickers to life, drifting over her. Her fingers slip, her eyes droop, and she falls to her knees before collapsing in a heap on the floor. Silence fills the room once more.
