Gan was currently in a battle, his Koffing released a Poisonous smog cloud before floating high into the sky.

The opponent was a Vulpix, who was alone at the moment.

Its talent was pathetic and so was its nature but it was worth Merit Points. Gan had dropped by the Poke'Mart to purchase more pokemon Balls before coming here.

The Vulpix wasn't the strongest and was engulfed in the Smog cloud. Smog had a chance of Poisoning an opponent and sure enough, it did so to Vulpix. The Vulpix started sneezing and Gan commanded his Koffing to tackle the Vulpix.

With the defeat of the Vulpix, he tossed a Poke Ball at it, catching it. At this point, he had caught himself 5 pokemon from this area. This was his first Vulpix, he caught 1 Growlithe that had a 2-star Potential, 2 Pidgey's with a 1-star talent, and 1 Oddish with a surprising 3-star talent.

Too bad, Oddish wasn't Gan's type of pokemon, but it should sell well with its Potential. Gan really wanted a Pokedex, but they were only handed out to certain people.

Gan had also registered at the pokemon center before coming here, so his pokemon could be sent straight to a Pc box if he went over the limit. Koffing had leveled up to 20 and learned sludge, so it could now use a ranged attack.

"Growlithe isn't a bad pokemon, but its Potential needs to be at least 3-Stars or higher." Gan shook his head, he didn't want 2 stars and below, they weren't good enough for him. The highest was a 5-star pokemon, which was very hard to find and encounter.

Gan had no thoughts of keeping any of these pokemon, but once he got a Pokedex, he could connect it to his Pc. Once he did that, it would record and add the pokemon he had caught already to his new Pokedex entry.

This was one of the reasons why a Pc was so important, it would record the pokemon you've caught if you didn't have a Pokedex. However, Gan was selling these pokemon, so he had to make sure he had these pokemon on record.

Pokemon were born with their Potential, obviously, but if their potential was too low, it could be raised with Stardust and a Star piece. A Star Piece would raise the Potential of a pokemon by .1 and Stardust would raise it by .3.

The ranks were as followed.

★=1.0=Bronze

★★=2.0=Silver

★★★=3.0=Gold

★★★★=4.0=Platnium

★★★★★=5.0=Diamond

So pokemon had a chance to rise, but you needed the items first. A Star piece and Stardust weren't even sold in stores, so you could only find them on your journey. Gan had seen them on the Merit List, but they cost many merit points to buy. There also weren't many in stock, to begin with.

Gan pulled out some food and started to eat. Koffing wasn't hungry, so it just floated around doing nothing.

"Koffing, that was a good job you did back there, you'll dine well once we get back to base." Gan made sure to compliment his partner; this would further motivate it.

"Koffing!" Koffing did its signature spin to display that it was happy.

After eating a few snacks, he went back to hunting more pokemon. This time, he came across 5 Spearow near the forest next to a grassy area. These pokemon were attacking a Rattata, who was bleeding and squealing in pain and fear.

Koffing came from its place of hiding and shot a large cloud a Poison Gas out of its mouth. The group of Spearow were caught off guard and engulfed in the Poison Gas.

Koffing hadn't had any problem until this point because it was a poison type and it could levitate, which worked in the same way as a flying type pokemon. Taking Vulpix and other pokemon on wasn't hard for it due to this.

However, there were many Spearow and they could fly and attack together. Gan commanded Koffing to use Sludge. The Spearow that darted towards Koffing was hit directly with a sludge, their levels weren't that high, so it did massive damage.

Gan laughed and tossed 3 PokeBalls swiftly, 2 PokeBalls were targeting 2 Spearow and 1 was targeting the hurt Rattata. The other 3 Spearow were poisoned, so they flew away chirping in anger.

"Yeah! Good Job, Koffing! That's what I'm talking about!" Gan felt joy due to their success. Poison pokemon really were dangerous and had a good advantage in the world of pokemon.

"6 Pokemon Caught of a Different Species." Gan checked his status page and saw that the number had gone up.

Koffing looked happy itself, as it spun around as usual.

"I don't think there are any other types of Pokemon in this area besides the ones I've Caught already." Just as Gan's words fell, he saw some bushes shivering, then a silhouette lunged at him.

Gan was surprised and jumped to the ground to dodge this sneak attack.

"Ekkkk!" An ear churning screech could be heard soon after. Gan looked over and saw that it was a pokemon and he easily recognized it.

Seeing Gan being attacked so suddenly, Koffing reacted soon after by spewing Smog towards the Raticate. Gan's expression drastically changed seeing its status sheet, it was actually a 3-Star pokemon with an attack nature and many moves.

The Raticate was fast and dodged the Smog attack.

"Sludge!" Gan was pissed, this thing was only targeting him, and had completely disregarded Koffing. Koffing started chucking large balls of sludge at Raticate, but its movements were swift and it dodged every attack.

Raticate knew it couldn't catch Koffing due to how high it was levitating in the air, so it could only target Gan. Just when it wanted to attack, they heard a cry in the distance, there were bird Pokemon flying over.

There were 4 of them, but Gan knew it was the Spearow from before. They looked sickly with purple blush on their little cheeks, they were clearly poisoned. Poison wouldn't exactly kill them, but it would cause them to faint for about 6 hours until the poison left their system. They would only die if they were still getting poisoned while in their fainted state.

Behind the 3 was another flying Pokemon, it was a Fearow! These Spearow had actually gone to get help after being defeated!

Gan's expression darkened, its level was higher than his Koffing and this wild Raticate's. He quickly recalled his Koffing and jumped into a bush nearby. They had already spotted Gan, but the Raticate was the only target visible, so they went for him instead.

Raticate used Quick attack on two of the Spearows and knocked them away. Gan wanted to leave, but he stuck around to see what would happen. The last Spearow looked hesitant, but suddenly, the Fearow from before also used Quick Attack by using Mirror Move!

"Ekkk!" Fearow tackled Raticate, as it slammed into a tree nearby, doing extra damage to it. Fearow took to the sky again and circled around for another attack. It used Quick attack again, but Raticate was ready this time, it dodged and used Hyper Fang on Fearow's back.

"Cacaca!" Fearow felt the pain of this bite, then it turned around and plucked at Raticate's head. Once the Raticate was knocked off, it swung its wings and knocked it towards the ground with a thud.

Raticate struggled, then sword Images appeared around it and sunk into its body. Afterward, the Raticate's body lit up with a red light for a second, displaying that it had a stat change.

Its attack had risen by 2 stages!

Fearow wasn't intimidated at all and mirror its move, also receiving an attack boost. After feeling the power coursing through it, it once again dove towards Raticate.

Raticate also jumped towards Fearow. At that moment, they were both engulfed in a purple cloud of poison. Gan laughed watching his Koffing spew Poison on the two, he also took this time to toss 2 more Pokeballs at the fallen Spearow.

They were still poisoned but Fearow was suddenly knocked away by Raticate, its attack had dramatically gone up due to its Guts boost! Gan did this on purpose, he needed both parties to weaken each other so he could reap the benefits.

Fearow was obviously going to win despite its talent being less than Raticate's. Raticate was already nearing defeat. Three-star pokemon weren't pushovers, he found that out quickly.

Raticate struggled to take another step, while Fearow struggled to get up itself. They were both poisoned and Fearow had taken a serious hit from Raticate.

Gut + Sword Dance, yeah, he wasn't doing any getting back up after that hit.

"Sludge! Attack that Fearow!" Gan pointed and commanded with a grin. In no time, Fearow was bombarded with Sludge before passing out. Gan had Koffing do the same to Raticate, and it also suffered in the same way.

Gan tossed 2 regular Pokeballs at them and caught them with ease.

"Heck, yeah!" What appeared to be a misfortune, ended with great fortune.

Gan inspected his Koffing and found that it had leveled up twice, it was now at level 22.

As for the other Spearow, it was standind on the ground, it seemed like the poison from before had taken its toll, and it collapsed on the spot.

It all ended once he caught it.

Fortunately, the poison would halt when they were in his Pokeball, so they weren't under any threats.

Sighing in relief, Gan thanked Koffing and sat against a tree.

"I don't know what this place is going by. If it's going by let's go Pikachu or Eevee, then there should be some rare spawns in this area." The rare spawn would include Kadabra and Porgon, there should also be some Jigglypuff's over here.

Funny enough, a Jigglypuff walked out of a bush with a look of confusion, because it heard fighting in this area and wanted to check it out. Sadly of it, the fighting was over, so there no one but Gan here.

"Oh, hehe, come to me little jiggly!"
