As I walk into the main hall I can see Legos and head over. “Hey man.” He greets me as I get close. “Hey what's up, you manage to get some skills leveled?” “Yup got my archery skills plus dodge up to five, I feel like I can hit anything now.” “Have you seen Drake or anyone else yet?” “I saw May she's turning in a quest she completed.” As we finished this exchange Drake walks in with Auspious, and when he see's us he waves and walks over. “Hey guys, glad to see everyone's here on time. Well except May but she should be with us soon.” Almost prophetically as he finishes talking May enters and Drake waves her over. “Alright with that we are ready follow me lads I'll get us signed in then we should be ready to start.” Drake waves us along and we follow him to one of the tellers without a line. “Hey we are looking to enter the dungeon, we have a slot for noon today.” “Let me see your badge and I'll get you sorted out.” “Sure thing here.” He says while pulling out his interface badge. “Yup I have you down for noon in the dungeon, are these people with you your party?” “Yes.” “Alright then I need to note down each of your rank and party position, drake here is a common rank front dps what about each of you?” We all walk up and she goes through all of our positions “Common backline dps” “Common backline support” “Common rogue” “Common frontline tank” “Alright you have all your bases covered it seems, alright you are gonna go through this door here” She gestures to a door behind the table and to the side of the stairs. “And give the people back there this ticket.” She hands a piece of paper to Drake. “And they will guide you into the dungeon and answer any questions before you go in. Good luck with the delve, we will be happy to buy any materials found in the dungeon.” “Thanks will do” Drake responds to her after her directions. After which we head up to the door in question, after entering we come to a room with a table with a young man and behind the table was a small iron gate that resembles something from the Victorian England and behind the gate is a sort of fuzzy looking space that is hard to concentrate on. “I see you all are taking a look at our residential dungeon, I assume its all of your first times judging by the looks on your faces.” The man says with a chuckle. “Anyway I'll be your guide, I'm here to answer any and all questions to ensure you survive the delve, cant have our fledgling adventurers being killed in the center of the city” “Gotcha I think to start with we would like to get a rundown of what to expect as this is our first dungeon.” “I figured as much. Basically there are three floors however since this is your first dungeon run I would not recommend going past the first floor even that might be a stretch depending on your skills, however I imagine that since you have a well balanced team as long as you have some skills to the first barrier you should manage. As for what to expect the first floor is mostly small animals like rodents snakes et cetera as well as a few plant monsters once you clear the floor of monsters the gates on the opposite side from where you entered will open and Dampé the undead gardener will enter the dungeon with you all having complimentary powersets you should be capable of defeating him he attacks with a shovel and when you get him close to dying he will unleash a magical shriek and will leave his body to attack as a ghost he will become significantly faster and he will resist most non magical attacks, not that they wont do damage but they will have significantly less effect.” After he finished going over the boss Legos raises a hand and asks a question about the boss. “If he is so resistant after the transformation what makes you think it will be fine?” “Well he gains resistance but in exchange he loses most of the force behind his hits, if you feel outmatched it should not be an issue just running and leaving the dungeon at which point it will restart with you all safely out here, so while he can be hard to take down once you get passed the first stage he is unlikely to actually hurt you.” This time I raise my hand and ask a question. “I heard there were magical ingredients available in the dungeon as well, is there some kind of list to look out for?” “Another good question however trying to make a list would be pointless as almost every common grade magical plant in existence can be found, however which ones show up is completely random, just keep an eye out for any unusual plants and bring them out we can identify them for you out here.” After answering my question he looks around and see's that none of us are asking anything else he nods and speaks again. “Alright it seems like you all are ready good luck yadda yadda, just walk through the gate and you'll be able enter you can leave through where you enter, now get to it.” After he finishes speaking he sits back down and waves us on past. as we approach the gate he pipes up one more time. “Also good luck try not to die.”

Vast Asleep
The story of Kingard the Binder in the aftermath of Broken This short story is the epilogue of Broken, the second book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. It’s a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers but is set apart from the full-length narrative. Vast Asleep follows the story of Kingard, who finds himself caught in a world called Mother's realm, bathed in glowing light but strangely stuck in place. He encounters his greatson Varyan there, and learns that his experiences are likely dreams. As he grows more accustomed to the loving realm around him, Kingard remembers fear and trepidation about the face of the world, and he loses contact with his companion. This story answers the question, Is Kingard really dead? with a tentative no, and new mysteries brewing. It also raises the question, What's happening while he's awake? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Ride Awake, about Kingard's situation with the Colkh'rak. Praise for Tales of the Known World Bookends: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between the epilogue and prologue is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well. -- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★
