《Diary of the Night Demoness》Chapter 8: Ouch — Does that hurt?

Do you ever feel like time passes by way too fast? Like one day, you planned to do this and before you know it, that day approached? Or how about you were sitting down laughing and joking with your friends. Or just listening to them make a fool out of themselves and before you know it, time flies by.
Did you ever feel guilty when you forgot what day it was? Or that you didn’t even notice the sun rise or fall?
Mm, this is entirely how I felt.
I laid low on the back of my horse. The wind whipping our hair, sending it back as if we were demons of the nights. My cheek could feel the powerful vibrations in my horse as it glided across the green pasture.
This was exhilarating. The thrill of being back in action. I unstrapped a composite bow, the latest trend among hunters. It had a pulley system that reduced the strain upon holding an arrow in place.
I notched an arrow, my eyes catching the sight of torch lights through the layer of trees. I patted Night Star to slow down. I rode almost parallel with them.
Grinning, I pulled back my arm. Aiming for a split second, I released the arrow. Pulling out another one from the quiver on the saddle.
“Urghh—.” The sound of someone unexpectedly taking a hit.
I saw a torch spin around, I took aim at the guy illuminated by his buddies’ torch. Letting the arrow fly while grasping another.
It was when that lad fell that people began drawing swords and looking around. Giving me another opportunity to send an arrow through the foliage. I patted my horse to begin chasing them.
They split in two different directions but, fleeing backwards the worst decision. I saw a place where I could switch to the road. Directing Night Star, she leaped over smoothly.
I leaned back and shot two arrows, leaning into the horse upon landing. Jolting a little before Star shot forward again.
I glanced down upon hearing a scream and crunching noise. With my head at the side of Night Star’s neck, it was a perfect view to see her purposely step on people. Such a sadistic side of her is a turn on. If only she was a person, haha.
I pulled out my sword. Star pulling even with the last two riders on my front. It would have been smart to shoot them but the infidel became too focused on the front. He only glanced back when I was in mid swing.

I watched his eyes widen. Watch a curse form on his tongue and blood spurt out his neck wound. His hands coming up to grab on upon me jerking my blade loose with the forward momentum of Night star. The guy fell with the force of the tug, rolling in the dirt, ending up face down.
I sheathed my blade and pulled out my arrow. The last guy looked back, his eyes widened. He dove out his saddle. I adjusted my aim and planted one of three arrows in his side. I leaned forward again, for Night Star put on a burst of speed. She slammed down with her hooves, her rear end swerving like a wagon that was about to be overturned. Her hind legs snapped out and I heard a sickening crunch.
I twisted my head upon Night Star gliding past the target. I saw him much further away than where he fell. To the point that he would forever be wrapped around a tree. I rubbed Night Star’s coat as she neigh triumphantly. A scary ass horse to be on the wrong side of.
This calls for some extra oats when we get home.
I chase down the horse and search its saddle before falling back to the team. Holding up a bundle containing missives. The real trophy of the night.
“Let’s return.” I said.

I brushed down Night Star’s coat extra carefully tonight. Watching her snorting while chowing down on the extra yummy flavored oats. I glimpsed at the sound of someone stepping upon hay.
Elena looked at me dressed in black button up shirt and shorts. The only clothes Cath decided to bring down.
“You look good.” Her eyes were walking up my legs.
Night Star snorted steam in her direction before going back to her hearty meal. Bringing a smile to my lips at her protectiveness, such a beautiful horse.
“Can we talk? It’s quite a clear sky? I brought snacks.” She spoke kind of nervously.
Holding up a basket but her eyes hadn’t quite reached mine, yet.
“You can talk in front of the stars here. If you have anything important to discuss. If not, I’ll meet you inside in an hour or so.” I said.
Her eyes finally snapped to mine.
“I’m being serious over here. I went to great lengths to get these still warm cakes made just for you. I have candles and even a little area made out as well. How about you take a break and come enjoy. It is my turn after all to pick the date area.”

I clicked my tongue and should have never joked with them about that. Night Star didn’t help by headbutting me over. I growled at her and she snorted at me.
I angrily stomp for a second, catching myself before my foot slammed down for a second time. I am a noblewoman, we don’t throw tantrums.
I tossed the brush onto the ring and grabbed my overcoat. Following Elena who was all too excited to rush to her little campsite in my backyard. A little bonfire on a stone platform, tent and beast fur laid out in front of it. Elena placed the basket down and grabbed my arm like I was too infirm to sit down on my own.
She reached into the tent and pulled out plates. Placing before us, then opening the basket, gently setting a saucer on top. She passed me a fork and I sighed.
I leaned forward a little and worked out a small bite. Bringing it to my lips, she watched the whole ceremony. I felt like a clown before a large crowd. I chewed slowly, savoring the mixture of flavors. A kind of honey and chocolate bread. It had a hint of something else that I couldn’t put my thoughts on. Like this mystery that required me to have another bite.
Before I knew it, I had eaten half the cake and she sat there, grinning like a little devil. I placed my fork down and turned to her with a sort of pleased smile.
“Okay, what did you want to talk about?” Even though I laced my words with a heavy layer of annoyance.
She obviously could tell I was still thinking about the cake, I was glancing at every few seconds.
“I wanted to ask if it was cool if we moved past first base. I mean, the hand holding is cute and all but how about I show you how good in bed I can be. I’m sure I am better than Cath.”
She started off good. I might have been willing to allow her to try. Well, I really wanted to pin her down. Have her stare up into my eyes as my hands slipped between her legs.
Sadly, every time I was in the mood her mouth would run at thousand miles an hour. She would always find some way to ruin the mood. I doubt she realized she was saying the wrong thing. Treating me no more than a prize. A well trained cow that was sent to graze at the grass near a fine bull.
I turned my attention to the beautiful night sky. The stars, shining ever so spectacularly. This is what left my breath stuck in my throat. The reds and greens floating just out of reach. Reminding me constantly of what I no longer have with me but what I should cherish more than anything.
I glanced back at Elena and picked up my fork. Giving her my answer, the answer of hell no. Their competitiveness ruins a lot of moments for me. Maybe it was just the fact I was too perceptive, too used to thinking about the meaning behind something. That I became jaded at adorable moments, I knew Cath cared for me. Would I go so far as to say love me? Of course not, I turned her life around. I gave her an opportunity and kept her mind off more horrid things.
She probably assumed she was doing the same. Allowing me to use her like she did me in her time of need. It was a cute thought.
Cute that people assumed I wasn’t strong enough to stand on my own two feet without a hand on the shoulder to ensure I didn’t fall.
I finished off the cake and left Elena to sit quiet. Puzzling about what she said that might have yet again ruined the moment. It’s fine though, neither her or Cath are getting to release any time soon. I am truly curious if they would end up in each other's arms. It would be expected, they were alike and different in so many ways. I wouldn’t be heartbroken if they got together. A little upset but I would have moved on.
