《Fantasy Air [GL]》Chapter 8. Procession for Prosecution

‘Since 400 years ago, Lorein Kingdom had been at war from all sides. During its darkest time, every one was emotionally plagued.
‘No one returns from war, they said.
‘Men converted themselves into women to escape the crisis.
‘Whereas, real women married women so they won’t have to bear a child. It was all because they were ordered to bear a child every five years and if it were a boy, he would be taken away for military training just at six, never to come back.
‘Quietly, this trend spread all over the country under the noses of military. And slowly, the forces of Lorein Kingdom were pushed back from their borders.
‘Loss after loss due to the lack of troops.
‘It wasn’t until later, the root cause was found. It was too late…
‘The biggest Kingdom in history was reduced to one fifth of its original glory. Even worse, most of the population was either killed or slaved in enemy hands.
‘New severe rules were implemented to uproot gender change and homosexuality. Many public executions were held, for the sinner had ashamed their ancestors.
‘But this made the inner stability of the Kingdom fall.
‘Many predicted that Lorein Kingdom would be erased as the borders were continuously shrinking.
‘The kingdom was finally saved by King Nicolas lace von Deque. He was the first prince to return from war. His malevolent actions, illustrious feats of war and stirring words changed the very hearts of people.’
“Back from war, honor in hand, the glory of homeland awaits. Death in battle, fear why? There is heaven to see.”
‘He even changed the heart of women by the tales of his romance. King Nicolas pursued many beautiful women. Stealing hearts is even difficult than war, he once said.
‘People straightened up. Men became more fierce for war and women took pride in bearing warriors.

‘The Kingdom was reduced but molded into an unbudging diamond.
‘But despite this, the rules on gender change and homosexuality were not withdrawn.’
Arnacia was lost in thoughts when the Knight stopped. She felt Isabelle’s hand on her shoulder and came back to her senses.
The streets were different from before. It looked like a wealthy neighborhood with cleanliness and no stall markets.
The Knight stopped in front of a two story manor, which held a sign board - Justice for Women.
“Your lies will be uncovered here,” the knight snorted and headed inside the open door.
Just as they entered, a woman in armor stepped forward to greet the knight.
‘A female Silver Knight!’
The female knight had short brown hair extending up to her neck. And her attire was exactly the same as the male knight. Black vest, puffed pants and an armor that covered only her heart.
She discussed details with the male knight, then turned her attention on the maids.
“I am Silver Knight Rose,” the female knight said. “Is there anything you would like to say in your defense?”
“Miss Rose, we were forcefully arrested,” Isabelle spoke.
‘The shy girl finally spoke.’ Arnacia sighed in her mind. She looked towards Isabelle in surprise!
“My dear, it doesn’t look like that to me,” Rose patted Isabelle’s head.
“Prosecute these little liars already. I have a territory to oversee,” the male Knight angrily said.
“Silver Knight Theon, you bring these girls with no proof and want a quick prosecution?” Rose turned back to meet the knight’s gaze.
“I saw them with my own eyes-“
“You saw these little girls engage in intimate activities?” Rose interrupted in between.
“You- I demand a Deception Revealing Inquiry,” the knight regained his composure.
‘Deception Reveal? Lie detector test?’ Arnacia pondered. There was no such thing in the novel. She once again complained about the messed up world.

‘Am I going to have any advantage after reading 272 chapters or not?’
“We will proceed with it soon,” Rose showed the way.
They were led to what seemed like a waiting area. Rows of wooden benches were laid out in the room. At the front were padded chairs. It was a pretty spacious room, but only four people were present in the room right now.
Rose handed a pen and papers to Silver Knight Theon.
‘Looks like a bankrupt company,’ Arnacia smiled wryly in her heart. In the precious life, her father’s company led to her downfall. And now an empty women’s justice department was at her throat.
This establishment looked like the rich Queen Afeefa paid a lot, but clearly no women were seeking justice here.
Arnacia headed straight for a seat, but then remembered about the basket hanging on her back. Isabelle quickly dropped her basket and helped Arnacia.
“Is your arm okay?” Isabelle asked.
“Isabelle, my-“ Arnacia smiled.
She felt funny about it now. Isabelle seemed to be more and more worried about her. And here they were, waiting to potentially be executed.
‘If it were the real Arnacia, she would’ve traded anything to keep Isabelle safe. Probably even her own life.’
“Get ready for your doom,” the knight laughed when Rose left the room with paperworks.
Soon, the maids were summoned to the upper floor.
Rose knocked on the door and then entered. The hall was dark, except for two flickering flames in the distance. At a closer distance, you could see that two candle sticks were kept on a table. The table was kept on an elevated stage and a figure was sitting behind it.
The figure wore a wide-brimmed hat; it seemed roughly one meter wide. A veiled face was hiding underneath the hat.
Just looking at the upper body, one could tell that an extremely voluptuous woman was hiding underneath. She wore long netted gloves and her bright red lips could be seen through the black netted veil.
Rose signaled for the maids to wait. She kept a paper on the table, stepped back and bowed on one knee.
‘This figure… who is she?’ Arnacia squinted her eyes to get a proper look but was unable.
“Fetch my coat,” a voice came from behind the table. The voice was on the deeper side for a woman, but it was extremely alluring.
Rose stood up and walked to the stage. When she was illuminated by the candlelight again, a black fur was visible in her hands. She respectfully wrapped it around the alluring lady. Then bowed and left the hall.
“Arnacia and Isabelle, step forward one by one,” the lady said.
The maids stepped forward, one by one. But on careful observation, Arnacia was slightly ahead of Isabelle.
The lady could now see the faces of maids lit by candlelight.
‘This person… can it be her?’ Arnacia was excited at the thought of this possibility.
Theon stepped into the hall. He looked around and snorted before walking closer to the table. He saw the lady covered in fur on the stage and directly said to her.
“Are you the judicial here?” the male knight continued in a haughty tone without giving a chance to answer. “These wenches polluted my territory. I think you have read the form by now. Questioning them will make it clear as a crystal. Just get this over with.
“If this were a normal courthouse, the two maids would already be on their way to the execution grounds!”

Living in Paradise
The first thing I saw when I woke up was a group of people standing over me shouting "Happy Birthday!!!". Immediately after they start debating what type of world I came from and calling me 'William'. Later on I would learn that everyone here is reborn from another world and many children come with magic or superpowers or other gifts leftover from their old lives. I came from a world that was, to me, typical modernity. To them it was pretty boaring with the only thing interesting about my world being was a higher than average tech level for a non-spacefaring civilization; technology that wouldn't even work in this new world. All I brought with me was a peculiar mindset and the strong suspicion that there must be something more to life. Once everyone started to clear out my mother took me up in her arms, explained how the world works, and then stabbed me in the neck with a knife. I got better. -------------------- This story was written from the central idea of a simple question: What if a videogame like world, with all the normal video-game staples and tropes, was actually a real world? How would that work? How would people understand the universe around them? What sort of weirdness would the world appear to have from the point of view of someone who recognizes the odd nature of the place? And finally, if left to its own devices, how would this type of world ultimately develop?

Makemake
"Makemake—a planet that is found in the far edges of the system known as Sol—was once a metropolis, like all of the other planets that populate the system. Now, like all of the others, it lies as a Sleeping City, forever dormant. No one lives there anymore—it has been vacant for years. In one of the massive cities that used to have a population that was in high numbers a sound could be heard. A distant sound. A beep, or a call, a message—whatever it was, it was an electronic noise. It echoed through the dust cloud filled landscape. The sound went on for a long time. It sat in a sea of quiet; no other noise rolled over the hills and bounced off the ground—only that noise. Only that beep."
