《A Magical Journey》Chapter 18: Travelling by wing

Vi were feeling so good in their dragon form, flying above the sea. They were letting the sea wind carry them around. They turned their head to see if Lou was doing fine, what the sorcerer saw make them laugh. Lou tied the chain around her waist and was standing up with her arms open, like if she was flying too. She said something but there was too much wind, they couldn't hear it, but they could read on her lips that it was something similar to 'this is amazing!'.
Once they reach Iztoros' coast, they landed and decided to take a little break there. Vi went back in their human form and stretched their arms and legs. Their stretchings got abruptly interupted by Lou making them fall on their back, she then climbed on top of them and pinned their arms above their head. Vi groaned loudly in exasperation ''Whhhyyyy!!???''
''I decided to teach you some self defence.''
''I can defend myself pretty well, thank you.'' Vi retorted making their hands glow.
''No magic hands this time! I saw how powerless you felt back then when the smoke bomb thing hit you. I want you to feel as confident in yourself that you are in your magic powers.''
Remembering that episod of their life made Vi feel embarrassed. Lou was right, they felt so useless without their abilities. Gosh, they even dropped the sword Lou gave them! They took a deep breath and agreed for a self defence 101 class. When Lou asked what they would do to break free, they fought for a bit agaisn't the grips, but Lou was definitly stronger and in a better position than them. Lou then explained ''When it comes to self defence, you don't need a lot of strenght. Most of the time, the person that will attack you will be stronger anyways. So I want you to do everything I tell you to do, okay?''
''Okay.''
''First, bring your feet closer to you and bend you legs... Great now, I want you to push your hips up to make a bridge with you back and at the same time, bring you hands to your sides in a circular motion. Don't push your arms up, only on the side.''
Vi did what they were told, making Lou lose balance and falling forward. Their hands were now free from Lou's grip.
''Awesome, now make a fist with your hands and pull out your middle knuckle. Hit me three time in the ribs.... Oww, great... Now pinch the inside of one of my tigh to make me put my weight on my other leg and push me on my back....''
It was a little hard for Vi to find the sweet spot in the inner thigh, but when they did, they flipped Lou over really easily. Lou fell on her back and put her arms in front of her face, in a protective way ''Great now punch me in the face, Stand up and run for your life!''

Vi punched lou in the arms, stood and and ran away on a few feet before going back to Lou, laughing a little. They praticed for a while until Vi was confortable enough to do it quickly.
They then got ready to fly away, Vi wanted to be in Kenanau late in the evening so most of the people would be in their room so they wouldn't have to see anybody. Once they arrived, they indeed didn't see lots of people outside. They stopped by Vi's room to get their books on magic for Lee and decided to sleep in the room for the night. Vi was surprise to see that nobody took it since they were gone for so long. Maybe they were scared to get burn to ashes by the dragon when they would come back! They will have to give the keys back and say that they are not coming back first thing in the morning. Since she was gone for three years, it was kind of hopeless to try to catch up in their studies. Plus, they never liked school anyway.
The two lovers cuddled in the small bed, talking about what will come next for their small group, what Lou will teach them next and other things until they both fell asleep. The next morning, they packed all what they wanted to bring, gave back the keys and flew away to get to Catontu.
After two days of flying and training they arrived in Catontu. They settled on landing a bit far away from the city to not get attacked by all the mercenaries there. Once they reached the city, they went into the headquarter so Lou could give her report on he rassignment. She explained that they reached their goal, but they still needed protection so she would stay with them for an unknow amount of time... Perhaps she won't be back... ever. This assignement was the last one she was obligated to do, her Sergeant agreed that she goes on her own and asked her to empty her room. She made a last salute to her Sergeant and left the office without turning back and she went back to where Vi was waiting for her ''You can wait here while I get my things in my room. It won't take too long. You can ge tus some food over there if you want. It was my favorite restaurant.''
''Okay, what do you want?''
''Anything really! I loved everything in there.''
Vi went to check on the menu and order for the both of them while Lou was getting her old stuff back. There wasn't lots of things in her room, mercenaries didn't have lots of personnal things to not slow them down in their missions. She got her clothes and found and old leather jacket that she thought Vi would like. It was not too masculine or feminine, Lou hoped it would help to make them feel better in their skin. She also find an old knife she would carry around in her first years of training : a karambit knife made of damascus steel and the handle was made of a purplish wood. That would make a great first weapon for Vi, it looked like a dragon claw and you could hit, cut and slit easily with it. She only needed to find the perfect time to give those things to them.

Lou headed back to the small restaurant to eat with her love. When they were ready to leave, some old friends of Lou stopped them and told Lou that they were suprised to see her with a sorcerer. They always thought she would settle in with a warrior like her ''Oh well, Vi here can be pretty fierce too, you know. Ready to go my wyrmlings?''
''Mhmmm.''
They both walked away, Vi making their chain appear so Lou could hold it and they shapeshifted back to their dragon form. Lou looked back at the other warriors and waved them a small goodbye. They went to get their other belongings, tied everything up and went on their way to their old castle in the Wilderness. Luckily, Vi dragon's form was really big because they had lots of bags of all sort.
They arrived at the castle in the afternoon of the second day they left Catontu. It was strange to come back here, they left maybe a week ago, but it looked like they were gone for much more longer. They left some of the bags and belongings there since they thought that the best place for Maya to train her new abilities would b ehere, in the castle. Also because all of the weight the bags were putting on the chains were starting to hurt Vi's scales and skin. They put everything in the hall, near the stairs so it would be easier to find and sort out when they come back. They then decided to fly a bit more since they was still a few hours of daylight. They were gone long enough, they wanted to meet their friends as soon as possible.
Once they reached Bishalint, they didn't bother to land away from the city like in Milia's kingdom. They landed right in the middle of the city where, suprisingly, their friends already were. Lee got mad at them for making such a scary entrance, but they both thought it was pretty funny to see the scholars run around.
They greeted each others and went to Lee's room to make a more formal presentation of Adam. Lee also told the rest of the group that Adam would like to join them in their trip to Egium. Maya and Will were really excited and happy at the news. Lou and Vi both looked and each other and nodded. They went on both side of Lee's boyfriend, arm crossed.
''Ouuuh'' Maya whispered ''here we go!''
''So'' Lou said ''he is the guy, isn't he?''
''Yes?'' Lee answered, intrigued and little scared too.
''Oh you heard about me'' Adam stuttered ''it was in good I hope!''
''Yeah'' Vi replied ''a little bit too.''
Lou then pushed him agaisn't the wall, holding him still, making Lee groan in embarrassement.
''Now listen, big guy. I made a promise to protect all of them and that include protecting her from too demanding boyfriend. If you ever force her to do anything she doesn't want to... Your death will be slow and painful. Got it?''
When he didn't say anything since he was still in shock of what just happened, she pushed him more into the wall ''GOT IT!''
''YY...YES! I already hurt her once, I never want to do it ever again.''
Lou looked back at Vi, still holding Adam. Vi thought for a few second and nodded ''He seems sincere. It's fine by me. ''
Lou let him go, straigthened his clothes and gave him a big tap on the back ''Welcome in the group buddy!''
''Thank you?''
Lou then wrapped her arm around Vi's shoulders and they left the room with their stuffs. Will went to shake his hand, Maya laughed and gave Adam a big hug and also welcomed him to the group. They then both headed out to get to their respective rooms showing the way to Vi and Lou, leaving Lee alone with her still traumatised boyfriend ''You know it not too late for you to stay here.''
''And leave you alone with...''
''BECAREFUL WHAT YOU'RE SAYING'' Lou shouted ''I CAN STILL HEAR YOU!''
''....those amazing people? Not a chance. And also'' he said in a lower voice ''I am not watching you leave without me ever again.''
They hugged each other and also went after the others to find a guest room for Vi and Lou.

No harem! I don't trust myself to make a harem feel natural or healthy, I never met any person who has a personality that can adapt and live in a harem for reasons that are not monetary, so I can't draw inspiration from real life. Sorry!; 2. The enemies will not be bland and illogically mean. Some may feel like that at first, but I will take great care in fleshing them out, trust me. You may end up hating some, but you won't be able to deny that they had their reasons for what they did; 3. I am using a paid (and expensive) automated editor tool, and I take longer to write because I take my time in editing the stuff. I am aiming to improve and I will not shy away from constructive criticism, nor take offense for no reason; 4. Characters will die and will suffer, some will get over the tragedies and improve, others will not be as resilient. 5. This novel has a lot of ground to cover, it is neither a short story, a manual on crafting, or the script of some action scene. There will be both time skips and oversimplifications of some actions for the sake of moving the story forward. Time skips will be more prominent in the first 30 chapters. I will describe crafting processes and fights with more detail if they are essential for the chapter; 6. If I took my time describing something, it's because it is important. I hate novels that waste time describing useless stuff. If you skim over something, the chances are that something in the future will not make sense. I am an adept of "Chekhov's gun" principle; 7. I already have 31k words on my auxiliary documents, I have a plan for the story, and I will not be making changes even if someone ends up noticing some foreshadowing and figures out what will happen. The story comes first. 8. I have a wife, a job that demands 9h every day and courses related to my job (lawyer) three days of the week, it's unlikely that I will be able to do mass releases at all. I will have a healthy amount of chapters to be able to post at least 1 chapter every day continually. Don't worry. 9. I will read all the comments. I will listen to all you have to say and will try my best to accommodate demands as long as they do not hamper the path I prepared. 10. There is an arc that spans the entire novel. Each volume will be an arc in itself while progressing a little bit of the main arc. Every arc will have one or more main antagonists. I think that's it! Thank you for reading it all. Have an awesome time reading my first novel!!
