《A Magical Journey》Chapter 14: Almost over

It was the middle of the afternoon the next day when the four adventurers reached the tower. It was right were Vi said, in the middle of a small peninsula. They could see Iztoros in the distance, at the other side of the body of water around the peninsula. They tied up Phantom on a tree and looked at each others, all making sure that everyone was ready for what was coming next. The tower was in the middle of a field, there was no way for them to sneak inside. Maya took a deep breath and took off her necklace. Better make a remarkable entrance if they can't be stealthy.
Felix sat up in his bed. 'Finally! They took their time getting here.' He smirked devishly and headed to the top of the tower. ''Oh dear Princey~ Your princess is here to save you!''
Will stood up and tried to look up the windows. He saw in the distance four women. One wearing a red warrior outfit, another with brown and green clothing, a silhouette wrapped in a black and green cloak and a small one with clothes that didn't seem to fit her. Will's heart skipped a beat, the smallest one was most likely Maya! She really did came to save him! His thoughts were cut short by Felix evil laughter.
''Oh yes Will, keep hopes. It will be so satisfying to see this little spark of hope die as I take back what is MINE!''
''They will stop you...''
Felix laughed even more and went to sit by the window, waiting for them to come up to him while he was non chalantly playing with his magical staff.
Lou looked at the tower and spotted the sorcerer staring at them. She rolled her eyes and gave him a small wave with her fingers. ''He is so overdramatic, waiting for us at the top of his tower like that.''

''I'm not sure if I can do this...'' Maya whispered.
''I'm sure you can'' Lee added ''the plan is great... We can do this!''
''Let's show him who's the best sorcerer!'' Vi exclaimed.
They were almost at the top of the stairs. Lou and Vi first, Lee and Maya right behind them. Vi asked if they were all ready, they all nodded and they all jumped into action : Lou and Vi rushing at the sorcerer, Vi wrapping a chain around the key he had around his waist and threw it in Lee's hand that was running toward the cell with Maya.
Felix threw his hand in Lee and Maya's direction and he pushed them both on the wall, knocking Lee unconscious that was almost at the cell's door. Maya crawled to her, checking if she was okay. Lou screamed in rage and charged at him with her sword. Felix laughed and tried to electrocute her, she manage to dodge the lighting, but when she tried to get her balance back, he also threw her on the wall. Vi tried to tie him up with their chains but he shoved them away with a simple hand gesture ''This is way more easier than I thought! You are so weak!''
''Please stop!'' Maya shouted, trying to use her ability on the sorcerer. ''Stop hurting my friends!''
''Your wishes are orders, princess!''
And he used the chain on his wall to tie up Maya and bring her to him. He grabbed her shoulder real hard, making the princess scream in pain and surprise. Vi and Lou tried to help their friend, but Felix made a big bubble of lighting around him and the princess. He then started the ritual to get Maya's power. He heard Vi, Lou and even Will scream in anger but he couldn't care less. It was finally over! In some seconds he will have all this abilities inside of him. His Master will be proud of him. When he said the last word, he closed his eyes, waiting for the power to flow through him... But nothing happened.

He opened his eyes and looked around him, making the lightings disappear. What was happening? Will was looking at him with a smirk on his pretty face, arm crossed ''Look like you didn't study your little spell hard enough, Felix. Looks like it failed.''
''NO! I did everything right! ''
''Oh'' Maya said calmy ''I got it then!''
''Oh gosh finally!'' Lou exclaimed. ''This illusion was much harder to keep in place than I thought!''
The air of the whole room started to ripple. Felix closed his eye sand shook his head. When he opened his eyes again, what he saw confused him. The person in his grip wasn't the princess, it was the scholar. He let go of her out of suprise. He looked around and saw the princess beside the cell door, that was now open. He looked the other way to see that the sorcerer and the warrior switched place. His staff was snatched away from him by Will and the prince hit him hard on the face, making him fall on his knees. A chain wrapped his wrists while Lou and Will held him still.
''What the...''
''Can you keep quiet I need to talk to someone'' Lee told him while tapping on the side of her glasses, ''hello?... Yes I know the spell, do you want to hear it?...Well, It looks like this old spell you showed me... Yes... That's what I thought... Okay thanks, bye.'' She tapped her glasses again.
While Lee seemed to speak to herself, the two men looked really confused, Will was about to ask what was happening, but Vi and Lou shook their head and pointing a finger in front of their mouth. Lee turned to face Maya and told her ''Maya, you can come now and repeat exactly what I will say. You will have to grab his shoulder too.''
''O... okay.''
Maya closed her eyes and tried to focus only on Lee's words and using her charmspeak and not to that man that was desperatly trying to get away from her grip. When the ritual was done a burst of energy flew out of Maya and Felix, making everyone else in the room slide a few feet on the ground. Felix fell back on his knees and hand, visibly exhausted, but still alive. When they looked up at Maya, she was levitating a few feet from the ground, electricity sparkling around her body and her eyes were shining a bright light. They all looked in awe, not nothing what to do. After a few seconds, Maya blinked several times, looked down and said in a small voice ''Am I....Am I flying right now!?''
All the electricity and energy surrounding her then disappeared, she floated a bit in the air before falling back down. She let out a small scream but Will catched her before she could hurt herself.
Felix looked around to find his staff, when he saw it he got up and grabbed it. Lou was about to run after him since he was about the jump out the window. Maya used her charmspeak and yelled ''STOP!''. Not only did all the people in the room stopped moving, holding their breath, but it also looked like all the wildlife stopped what they were doing too : the birds paused their chirpings, the insects interupted their stridulations, even the wind seemed to have stopped blowing.
Felix was the first one to recover and climbed the windowframe and jumped. They all looked at each other and rushed to the window, only to see the sorcerer flying away, sitting on the back of a gigantic flying snake.

Viridescent Core
Some mortals see dungeons as a plague to destroy. Some mortals see dungeons as a resource to manage and harvest. Some mortals see dungeons as a place to train and advance. However, all of them agree on something. Dungeons are unnatural and deadly. Places where death stalks every corner and monsters thrive. What mortals forget, in their hubris of tools and civilizations, is that Mother Nature is often the deadliest of all. Feel free to write any comment, suggestion, or criticism. “Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
