Chapter 42: Baku’s Final Closure

(Setting: Crystal Kingdom: High University- Main Hall)

(Scene: Baku, Barrtio, Finn, and Millia arrive at the High University and prepare for their classes)

[Intercom]: Goooodmorning Crystal High University students! Today is Thursday, March 1st, 3012. Today's daily reminder is that this year's Winter Homecoming Dance is this Saturday! Make sure you buy your tickets, dry clean your tux's and ask that special someone for a great night!

[Barrtio]: Oh man... I forgot all about the stupid dance... Now I'm gonna be sad all day and lonely all night…

[Finn]: *Moaning* Baaakuuu... You said you were gonna get us hot dates with hot babes!

[Baku Cree]: I can't say I recall guaranteeing you that specifically…

[Finn]: What!? Do you mean you made me come to school for no reason!? You're a liar! I bet you're not even the World Guardian either!

[Baku Cree]: *Sigh* Shut up, you idiot. Besides, the royals aren't even here yet.

[Barrtio]: I knew it! It was a scam! A russ! A hoax!

[Millia Grendar]: *Sarcastically* Hm... It's almost like the point of coming to school was for an education. Not to get worked up over a few girls with money.

[Barrtio]: Screw that! If I'm not getting a date with Lady Akamiko for the winter dance, then I don't have to be here! C'mon Finn, let's ditch this popsicle stand!

[Finn]: Right behind ya!

*Barrtio and Finn turn around to leave when suddenly…

[Princess Savannah]: *Singingly* Oooohhh, Baaakuuu!

[Baku Cree]: Oh, there's my sis... Hey Princess! Good morning, everyone else!

[Barrtio and Finn]: !!!!!!

[Princess Savannah]: Baku! Where were you this morning? We were going to give you a ride to school!

[Baku Cree]: Sorry, Princess! I left the palace a little early so I can walk with Lady Millia. I should've let you know in advanced.

[Mitsune Akamiko]: *Mockingly* Oooohhh, I see now... You’re ditching ol' Bessie for a real girl aren't you, Baku?

[Princess Savannah]: *Annoyed* ... It is entirely too early for your nonsense…

[Baku Cree]: Hehehe... No, it's not like that at all, Lady Akamiko. I was just setting stuff up so you guys could meet some people I know.

[Mitsune Akamiko]: Really? Who?

[Baku Cree]: Everybody. I'd like to introduce you to a couple of my acquaintances. Please met the gentlemen behind me, my good friends... Barrtio and Finn!

[Princess Savannah]: *Confused* Umm... Come again?

[Halenday Medellon]: Who are you talking about, honey? The only person we see is Lady Millia, and we all know her quite well.

[Baku Cree]: ...Hm...? Wh-what the hell!? Millia, where'd Barrtio and Finn go!?

[Millia Grendar]: Uhh... I don't know, they were standing right here just a second ago.

[Baku Cree]: *Ugghh* Geez... Hehe... Please give me one second, everybody.

*Baku briefly leaves to go find his friends. When he turns the corner, he finds Barrtio and Finn hiding inside a pink trash can.

[Baku Cree]: ......... What the hell are you guys doing?

[Barrtio]: *Shaking* *Scared* Baku, please don't introduce us to the popular kids!

[Finn]: *Shaking* *Scared* Yeah dude! Weren't not ready for this!

[Baku Cree]: *Sigh* You guys are idiots. I thought you two wanted to be popular? What's the matter? Got cold feet?

[Barrtio]: Hey, just because we talk a big game doesn't mean we can also support it!

[Finn]: Yeah! Don't you know how much work that is!?

[Baku Cree]: Geez... Listen dudes, all you guys have to do is be cool. I'm going to introduce you to good people. They're not gonna tear you apart, save for Lady Yamabushi... Besides Barrtio, don't you want to meet Lady Akamiko?

[Barrtio]: *Nervous* ... Y-yeah…

[Baku Cree]: And Finn, wouldn't it be amazing if you said something funny and the princess laughed?

[Finn]: Yeah... Yeah!

[Baku Cree]: Alright! Now get the hell out of the trash and act like normal people.

*Baku and his friends return to the royals.

[Baku Cree]: Okay, let's try this again. Princess, everyone else, these are my best friends, Barrtio and Finn!

[Barrtio]: *Nervous* ... H-hey…

[Finn]: *Nervous* D-do y-you guys like... pepperoni p-pizza?

[Mitsune Akamiko]: *Confused* What?

[Finn]: *Nervous* Th-that was a... joke.

[Millia Grendar]: *Sigh* ... Oh my Goddess…

[Princess Savannah]: ... Oookay... These are your friends, Baku?

[Baku Cree]: ......... Yes. Yes, they are.

[Princess Savannah]: Are they your friends too, Lady Millia?

[Millia Grendar]: For better or for worse…

[Princess Savannah]: Very well then, do any of you guys have test to take? Baku and I finished all of ours already.

[Halenday Medellon]: I'm pretty sure the three of us got our test done and graded by now.

[Baku Cree]: And Lady Millia, along with these two aren't necessarily set up to partake in whatever test they may have. But don't mind that, these two don't care and I'm pretty sure Master Grendar made sure your grades were frozen before he removed you.

[Millia Grendar]: *Smiling* So then everything works out!

[Princess Savannah]: Great! So since we have a down day, how about we hit the mall?

[Mitsune Akamiko]: You've read my mind!

[Baku Cree]: Awesome, let's go --

[Intercom]: *Ring! Ring! Ring! Attention students. Attention students. Will Baku Cree please report to Mrs. Alina's office immediately. I repeat. Will Baku Cree, please report to Mrs. Alina's office immediately.

[Baku Cree]: *Sigh* Oh what the hell does she want…

[Mitsune Akamiko]: *Mockingly* Uh Oooh, Bakuuu. You're in troubleeee!

[Ayurielli Yamabushi]: Did you do something stupid again?

[Baku Cree]: No, I didn't do anything stupid, Lady Yamabushi. And what do you mean by again!? *Sigh* Uhhh... Okay, I'll try to make this quick, so I don't keep you all waiting on me. I'll be back in a flash! *Turns to Barrtio and Finn* And you two, don't embarrass yourselves, please…

[Baku Cree]: *Sigh* ... Alright, I'll be right back…

*Baku separates from his friends and makes his way to the guidance counselors office.

(Setting: Crystal Kingdom: High University- Guidance Counselors Office)

(Scene: Baku meets with his Guidance Counselor)

*Baku enters the Guidance Counselor's office.

[Baku Cree]: *Nonchalantly* Good morning, Mrs. Alina, I came as soon as you called for me…

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: Good morning, Mr. Baku Cree. I'm glad you can join us today.

[Nicolatrice Cree]: *Smiling* Good morning, Baku! How are you today?

[Baku Cree]: *Surprised* Whoa, what the heck!? Mom, what are you doing here?

[Nicolatrice Cree]: I got a letter the other day inviting me to visit the High University for a Parent-Teacher conference!

[Baku Cree]: Oh... A Parent-Teacher conference, huh...? I see... That's reeaallyy interesting…

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: Please, Mr. Cree. Take a seat. How are you doing today?

[Baku Cree]: I'm doing just fine... How about yourself, Mrs. Alina?

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: I'm doing excellent today, and I'm sure you know why.

[Baku Cree]: Do I now?

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: Yes, not only have I finally gotten the opportunity to meet your mother, whom is not only beautiful but has an amazing personality. But you, Mr. Baku Cree, has utterly flabbergasted myself, the entire school system and each and every teacher that is aware of your *cough* reputation...

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: And that reason is, how your grades have all increased dramatically in just a short amount of time. Now, I'm sure you and your mother are already well aware of what you scored on your test and classes. But for the sake of viewing the whole scope of things, I wanted to go over just how far you've come.

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: So, let's begin... Baku Cree, from the start of the year to now: you've maintained an A in Astronomy and in Art, which if I'm not mistaken, are your favorite classes, correct? You've gone from a D to a C in Gym, which is in fact an improvement considering what we've started out with.

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: You've then proceeded to go from an F to a C in Modern Literature, an F to a B in World History, and finally, through some divine miracle, a F to a C in Algebra... Baku... I must ask, how did you do it? What is your secret?

[Baku Cree]: Umm... Hard work and dedication goes a long way?

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: Baku, come now. That's something you would find on a poster in the library... I know you had to have had some type of motivation, aside from becoming the new hero of the world. If such a role was given to you, why did you find it in yourself to raise all of your grades so well. Instead of just ignoring it and moving on with your new life?

[Baku Cree]: *Sigh* Well, I didn't want to be remembered as the hero who sucked at math... That and I owed it to a couple of special people in my life to prioritize my studies. So I did just that. I didn't think I'd do so decently. But a lot of people dedicated their time to help me study and learn the classes I previously had no interest in. I guess I've managed to make everybody proud and happy. So... Yeah?

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: Interesting... Very interesting indeed... So now that we know what is going through your head. Madame Nicolatrice, I would like to hear your input on this matter. Just let me reiterate, how utterly pleased I am to finally meet you. Baku has told me so much about you.

[Nicolatrice Cree]: *Smiling* Oh, how wonderful to hear, and just let me say it is an honor to meet you and visit this beautiful school for the first time! As you and I both know, Baku has very clearly changed and grew positively in all corners and aspects of his life.

[Nicolatrice Cree]: He has evolved mentally, physically and spiritually to the point where I can barely even recognize him! I'm incredibly proud of him for what he's become in recent time, especially after worrying and thinking of ways to guide him in his future and praying for something to motivate him.

[Nicolatrice Cree]: Becoming the World Guardian not only made me the proudest mother on the living planet, but also makes me confident, that Baku was always born for greatness. That's why I'm proud of him, through all of his struggles and accomplishments no matter what the scale may be, past, present and future.

[Baku Cree]: ... Mom…

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: That's very beautiful, Nicolatrice. I can now truly see the bond between the two of you. But before we end this session, I have one more question to ask of you, Madame. Why, if you knew Baku was struggling through his classes and knowingly skipping school, didn't you stop him or change his habits more proactively?

[Baku Cree]: .........

[Nicolatrice Cree]: Well... I know what Baku likes, and what he doesn't... Due to that, and how I knew he felt about our previous living situation and how he spoke about his thoughts on the Crystal Kingdom overall. I simply allowed him to make his own choices and decisions based on his outlook on his own life.

[Nicolatrice Cree]: So, I suppose you can say, I allowed Baku to shape his own destiny and gifted him with free will. After all, I couldn't ever put myself to enforce any type of dominance over Baku. I'm just not that kind of person... Call me a pushover, but as long as Baku's happy, I'm happy.

[Baku Cree]: ... Mother…

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: I see... And would you still feel the same way if Baku didn't become the World Guardian, and you two were still in the fields, having this same conversation, with Baku still having his previous grades?

[Nicolatrice Cree]: *Smiling* Mmhmm!

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: Very well then... Let me just say that this has been an eye opening meeting that was long overdue. Did Baku ever tell you that I've been wanting to meet you prior to this?

[Nicolatrice Cree]: Oh yes, he's told me many times that you've wanted to meet me. But, I've always been so busy back in our previous life in the fields that I just couldn't find the time too! I apologize for that!

[Baku Cree]: *Thinking to himself* Holy crap, Mom, you are the greatest of all time!

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: Well, either way. I'm glad we've finally had the chance to meet. Thank you for coming by, Madame Nicolatrice. And thank you, Mr. Baku, for not only taking up defending our planet, but for becoming a stellar student.

[Baku Cree]: Thanks for being an excellent guidance counselor, Mrs. Alina. Thank you for not giving up on me.

[Guidance Counselor Mrs. Alina]: It was my pleasure, good luck in the Crystal Dome Games, and have fun on your adventure!

*Baku and his mother leave the guidance counselor's office.

[Baku Cree]: *Deeply inhales* ... Mom.

[Nicolatrice Cree]: Yes, Baku? What is it, sweetie?

[Baku Cree]: I'm... Sorry for making you worry about me, and taking so long to take life seriously... Nobody deserves the graciousness you've given me... And... I want to repay you somehow for being so perfect to me, no matter how much stress I put you through... Mom. I'm--

*Nicolatrice hugs her son tightly.

[Nicolatrice Cree]: Baku, my son... You don't have to worry about me, darling... All you have to do is focus on making yourself happy, and believing yourself to have the strength to overcome your fears and weaknesses. There was never any doubt in my entire being that you would be anything but great, Baku. I already knew this, it is now up to you to prove this to everyone else, sweetheart.

[Baku Cree]: Mom, thank you…

[Nicolatrice Cree]: So, what else do you have planned for the day?

[Baku Cree]: I don't have any other test to take, so I'm actually pretty sure the princess and our friends are still waiting for me so we can all hangout... Oh man, they're probably displeased with me by now…

[Nicolatrice Cree]: *Smiling* Well, I hope you have a great remainder of your day, Aventurine. I'll see you when you get home!

[Baku Cree]: Alright, Mom. I'll see you later!

*Nicolatrice leaves the school and Baku makes his way to the parking lot to meet his friends. Having that meeting, that Baku once thought about disdainfully, actually lead him to a positive outlook on life and the world around him making him feel really good inside.

(Setting: Crystal Kingdom: High University- Parking lot)

(Scene: Baku meets with his friends and are released for the day)

[Baku Cree]: Hey guys, sorry for being late!

[Mitsune Akamiko]: Geez, took ya long enough, Baku! At this rate all the best dresses will be out of stock!

[Baku Cree]: *Sarcastically* Oh man, I'm so sorry!

[Mitsune Akamiko]: You better be! I'll never forgive you if I'm not wearing the most beautiful dress in the school on Saturday!

[Princess Savannah]: Don't mind her, she knows all of the best dresses can only be afforded by people like her... Anyways, is everything okay, Baku?

[Baku Cree]: *Smiling* Yeah, everything's great princess! I'm just happy to be around all of my best friends!

[Halenday Medellon]: Aww, how sweet!

[Millia Grendar]: Wow, Baku! I haven't seen you this positive ever!

[Baku Cree]: What do you mean? I'm a pretty positive guy! ... I think?

[Mitsune Akamiko]: FINALLY! But... We don't have space for all four of you…

[Millia Grendar]: Don't worry, Baku! I have a chariot waiting!

*Baku and his friends make their way to the mall riding a pink chariot.

(Scene: The whole group appears at the mall)

[Millia Grendar]: Or you guys can just not open your mouths at all. You'll have a better chance of not saying anything stupid.

*Baku and his friends catch up to the Princess.

*The crew begins there shopping at a dress and tuxedo store. It is home to very expensive lines and brands of royal and formal clothing. Fashion room lights and pearly white shelves made the place look extremely gaudy.

[Mitsune Akamiko]: *Overly excited* OH MY GODDESS! THIS LOOKS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE! NO WAIT, THAT LOOKS STUNNING! HOLD THE PHONE! THIS LOOKS GORGEOUS! HOLY CRAP! THERE ARE SO MANY AMAZING CHOICES!

[Barrtio]: *Sigh* She’s so beautiful…

[Baku Cree]: Why don't you go talk to her, bud?

[Barrtio]: This is absolutely insane! How the hell did he leave this information out the other day!? He's dating his sexy older sister like a... Like a... LIKE A STINKIN' ANIME CHARACTER!?

*The group prepares to leave the clothing store.

*On their way to the food court, the group passes by a sign-up booth for the Crystal Dome Games.

[Baku Cree]: WHOA! WHAT IS IT!? YOU ALMOST GAVE ME A FREAKIN HEART ATTACK! Hey, wait a minute! That's the Crystal Dome Games sign-in sheet!

[Ayurielli Yamabushi]: If we don't apply now, all of the spots will be taken... I hope you're ready for this Friday… Since it was moved up all of a sudden...

[Baku Cree]: Oh, I was born ready! I can't wait to show off my skills!

[Ayurielli Yamabushi]: Hmph. Likewise... I should finalize my training while I still have the time…

[Baku Cree]: That sounds like a good idea... I should see what the prince is doing today…

[Ayurielli Yamabushi]: Yes, you would be wise to train as hard as you can. For I will, and I bet many others will as well…

*Baku and Lady Yamabushi sign-up for their spots in the Crystal Dome Games. They then arrive at the massive food court, Barrtio and Finn are left in awe at the giant selection of restaurants to choose from.

*Baku showed them the best spots, a trait learned from Lady Akamiko, who treated all of the girls including Master Medellon to ice cream sundaes to celebrate the completion of their Mid-Term Examinations. After enjoying their meals, the group leaves the mall and prepares to head home.

[Princess Savannah]: Alright, Baku! I'll see you when you get home!

[Baku Cree]: Okay, princess! Please remember to drive safely, Lady Akamiko!

[Baku Cree]: I know, I'm gonna have way too much anxiety to focus on anything tomorrow... Hey wait a minute, Milly, who are you going to the dance with?

[Millia Grendar]: Uhh... Oh, I'm not really sure... I kinda just figured we'd be going as a group of friends or something…

[Baku Cree]: Hm, okay... Well that will still be fun, I'm sure.

*The chariot finally arrives at the Crystal Palace.

[Millia Grendar]: Well... Here we are, Mr. Baku Cree!

[Baku Cree]: Thanks for the ride, milady. I had fun hanging out with you again!

*The two stare at each other for a little bit silently.

[Baku Cree]: ... I-I'm gonna go now.

[Millia Grendar]: ... Oh, of course! Have a great night!

*Baku disembarks the pink chariot and it rides off. Baku then enters the Crystal Palace.

*Baku enters the prince's bedroom. Majorku sits within a circle of candles whose light resonates with his deep breathing.

[Baku Cree]: Hey bro, is this a good time?

[Prince Majorku]: Of course, what do you need, Baku? Did you have a nice day? Please, take a seat. *Smiling* I've heard about your grades, little brother. I was impressed!

[Baku Cree]: *Smiling* Thanks, I was too, hehe!

[Prince Majorku]: So, what can I do for you? Are you ready for the big dance? Or how about the Crystal Dome Games?

[Baku Cree]: Actually, that's what I wanted to talk to you about. Do you think we can do a little more training before the big day?

[Prince Majorku]: Hmm…

[Baku Cree]: What is it?

[Prince Majorku]: Do you truly believe you need more training? If you ask me, you're pretty adept in your physical, mental, and spiritual applications. So, what do you think we should train with such limited time remaining?

[Baku Cree]: Well, I mean... There are still armor based techniques I haven't pulled off yet. Like, actually creating armor, or generating the double pairs and the full set for that matter.

[Prince Majorku]: ... That... Is correct... So, what do you intend to train on?

[Baku Cree]: Well, what do you think I should focus on in order to increase the maximum potential of my Soul Energy?

[Prince Majorku]: Perhaps... We should meditate.

[Baku Cree]: Meditate? Okay, but... Wouldn't boosting my physical strength help me attain the offense or defense boost I need?

[Prince Majorku]: Probably... But, if I'm not mistaken, your body is at its highest physical peak it can be at currently. So for you to continue training in that area, will probably sharpen your overall health. But from what I can sense from you, your body can't improve any farther for now. You'll need to break another barrier or wall that's stopping you from improving, before you can move on. But that's from within yourself, only you can do that.

[Baku Cree]: Alright... So, if we are going to meditate, how will that help me surpass my limit of Soul Energy?

[Prince Majorku]: We've been over this before, I'm sure. You see, Baku, when you first meditated with your crystal, you established a connection with it allowing you to harness its powers. By training with said powers, you have been able to learn, master and perfect your abilities. You understand them and you use it to fight for the cause that you stand for. Therefore, by meditating, and finding yourself through your soul and the energy radiating from your crystal, do you also unlock things from within your body in order to unleash new skills and abilities.

[Baku Cree]: So then, meditating is equally as important as physical training... Alright, that makes sense, especially if I find myself unable to improve my current skill set for a time. Okay, so when I do meditate, what should I think about?

[Prince Majorku]: That, little brother, is completely up to you. Perhaps something from your past, present occurrences, or maybe even possibilities for your future. You can do whatever you want in the realms of your own body. So close your eyes, empty your mind, and connect with your soul.

[Baku Cree]: Okay... *Deeply inhales* ... *Thinking to himself* ... Alright, meditating time... First off, I guess I should think about everything I've been through since becoming the World Guardian... Not only have I become royalty, I've made my mother the proudest mom in the world by absolutely killing my test and studying my ass off... I raised my grades and made all of my teachers think super highly of me, I even got Lady Millia back to Barrtio and Finn!

[Baku Cree]: I was so worried about not being able to meet Master Grendar’s standards, but I managed to do it and I couldn't be more relieved. I would've never had to deal with losing Lady Millia if I had taken my classes seriously in the first place. But then again, maybe the fear of never seeing my friends together again was enough to put my butt in motion and start taking my life seriously. I should've been more diligent and more confident with myself...

[Baku Cree]: *Sigh* I'm just glad everything's back to normal, for the most part... Ever since I became the World Guardian, I also became Mr. Popular, and started hanging out with the princess and her friends. Which I never saw myself doing ever, if I were completely honest with myself.

[Baku Cree]: But, they welcomed me with open arms since day one and never let me down since, so it's only right that I don't let them down either. As the World Guardian, I have to protect what matters the most to me, and that's the safety and wellbeing of my friends and family... I'm glad I was able to get everybody together today to hangout. They're all so excited for the Winter Homecoming Dance. I hope they all have fun...

[Baku Cree]: But what I'm most excited for, is the Crystal Dome Games. I never would've thought that I would be participating in a tournament where warriors from all corners of the Xeria Kingdom will be duking it out for fame, fortune, and a trophy. But not just any trophy, the Legendary Crystal Sword, Crystallis... That is the weapon I need in order to successfully defend the planet from evil and the people I hold dearly to my heart...

[Baku Cree]: I wonder just what I'll find on the living planet... I know I wrote a paper on fish people, but aside from that, I don't know a whole lot more because I didn't pay attention in World History class enough, but I do know that pretty much anything I can think of exist on that planet... It's almost like a videogame or an action anime or manga... Except for real and the lives a millions, if not billions are at stake... Which is why I have to take this whole thing seriously.

[Baku Cree]: I have to save the world from whatever evil awaits me. I don’t know who or what the World Destroyer is or will be, but this is why I’m training and meditating. So I can be strong enough to defeat all of my enemies and then come back home to mom in time for dinner... Hehehe, just a day in the life of Baku Cree! I used to be afraid, but now I'm excited to prove to everybody what I can do! After all, I have a lot of people rooting for me. So I can't let them down…

[Baku Cree]: Sounds like our bond has grown stronger! Awesome, I can't wait for our adventure!

[Prince Majorku]: Is your meditation complete? Do you feel the energy flowing to your soul now?

[Baku Cree]: *Smiling* I sure do! Thanks, Prince Majorku! I definitely needed this! *Stomach growls* ... Uhh, hehehe…

[Prince Majorku]: Sounds like you need some dinner as well! Let's go meet our family!

*Baku and his brother take a seat with their family.

[Prince Majorku]: Sorry for being late, father. Baku and I were meditating and lost track of time.

[King Jeremiah Cree]: Meditating, huh? Well, time is of the essence, so I do hope you use what is left of it wisely, Baku. That being said, are you ready for tomorrow? The Crystal Dome Games will be a challenge for a boy your age, especially with the likes of the Prince and the Yamabushi clan’s youngest female heiress participating in it. I'm excited to see how you do.

[Princess Savannah]: I'll be cheering for you in battles you don't have against Lady Yamabushi.
