《Heart of a tree》Chapter 8- the choice {part 1}

Liu Wen looked meekly at the three men in front of him, looking back at him with intimidating stares.
Liu wen felt uncomfortable under the gaze of these men. It took all his willpower not to just run away
They weren’t any ordinary men they were the most powerful men, both in cultivation and influence
They were the only nascent soul ancestors of the red star sect, three true monarchs and that sacred him
In the middle sat the sect founder and former sect head true monarch red rabbit
On his left and right sat the only 4th-grade alchemist true monarch fire breath and the celestial diviner Master meng
Any of these three men can kill him just a breath, not to mention the Liu family patriarch head standing right next to him smiling like Damm idiot
“Do you agree li wen?” asked master meng
Liu wen broke into a cold sweat at this question
He wanted to shout “No, you old idiot, I don’t agree”, but that was Nei-impossible for him
Liu wen couldn’t just refuse these old monsters and swagger out of here, even they allowed him to leave
without doing anything to him, they would surely retaliate against him at a later date
That retaliation could be mild as reducing the number of resources he had access to as severe as just out killing him in the dark
These old relics were putting him in an impossible position, they gave him two impossible choices
On one hand, he could refuse these bastards and face their wrath, which would probably end in his death
On the other hand, he could agree and face the dire consequences in the future if he is found out
Both these choices were bad to say the least, but for Liu Wen the danger in the future far too distant for him to think it real and the danger of these old men was very real
Even though the choices were difficult, the decision was easy for Liu Wen,
“Yes, I agree with the elder’s proposition,” Liu wen said
“Good, Good, Good” true monarch red rabbit said and started to laugh
“You are a loyal son of the clan Liu Wen” patriarch Liu Tuan praised him
“You’ve made the right choice” Master meng got up from his chair and came to him
Liu Wen mocked himself ‘THE RIGIT CHOICE’

only the future will tell him that, he thought to himself
….....................................................................................................................................................................
As I looked at my clear reflection in the mirror made of water, I couldn’t help but smile
In the reflection stood a lean, smart-looking boy with sharp features on an oval face with straight bushy eyebrows, dressed in all red clothes with long hair tied in a bun held together with a single wooden stick
If I had seen this boy in my previous life, I would have thought that he was a handsome child actor in some Chinese historical drama.
Everything about the boy in reflection looked normal except his eyes, his piercing gold eyes,
Even in my previous life, I couldn’t remember anyone with gold eyes. They were unnerving.
“Okay, granny Yu I’m done” I said in a chirpy voice
The mirror shimmered and then turned into mist and disappeared and granny Yu dressed in all black came forward with a happy smile on her face.
“How do I look?” I said and gave a little spin to let her see the entire outfit
“Very Good, my young master is so dashing that he going to turn many hearts today”
she replied with a dazzling smile
I felt my face turning hot at that comment and seeing the even brighter smile on the face of granny Yu I felt even more embarrassment
“Okay, let’s go. We will be, late” I said in a shrill voice to hide my embarrassment and ran outside the room
“Yes, young master,” I heard granny say behind my back
After I woke from the stupor of self-pity, I learned a lot about this world from granny Yu and from a lot of different unique books
This was a world of cultivation, the concept I had read in many stories in my previous life
The people born with spiritual roots can sense the various types of energies and harness it to become immortals
Through the books I learned that human being are not the only ones in this world. There were many races the elves, dwarfs, darken, Beast men, Godkin, spirtmen, sirens, cyclops, dracman, Lycoros to name a few.
These were just the mortal races and each of these races had their own powered as I had come to all them people with the ability to sense the energies and to harness them.
According to the books given by Granny Yu, there were 9 continents in this world and they call the one we live on the Great heart continent. Whoever came up with that name needs to put explanation, but there was none

I know that we live in the eastern region of this great heart continent. Beyond that, I found no other information
Which region do we live in? What is it called? I knew nothing except that we live in the red star sect built right next to red star city and the red river. There I lot of red things around this place
All this new information fascinated me, as it was further proof that I was no longer on earth. I was in this magical place where all sorts of things were not just myths, but actual realities
As I came out of the house, I stopped and waited for granny Yu. She was truly kind and a good person
After that day she had become my anchor that made this horrible place livable
I had tried to call her grandma, but she seriously reprimanded me and told to only granny Yu but in my mind, she was my grandmother and I called granny behind her back
As she came out of the house in a brisk walk, she waved her hands and a black carriage appeared Infront of me
I was stunned. How the hell did it happen
Maybe seeing my stunned expression, granny took pity on me and explained
“It’s a flying carriage, young master,” she said
I looked at the carriage, it was completely black with no wheels but spikes, like pole prodding in the front and back it looked like the litter
“Where did it come from?” I asked turning to her staring intently at her
She laughed and picked up her robe to show me her left foot
“From the storage ring young master,” she said
I looked closely at the foot. There was a plain silver ring on the small toe of the foot
“that’s a storage ring”
Granny Yu nodded
It amazed me
I knew about storage rings not just from books provided by granny, but anyone who has played D&D would know about them
But these world storage rings were using space stones and required not just a skilled grade 4 refiner but also a grade 4 formation master that means they were super rare
Storage bag on the other hand just needed a grade 1 inscription master who knew spatial element inscription
“Let’s go, young master”
The voice of granny broke my chain of thought and looked at where granny Yu was
She was sitting in driver position and had somehow opened the door to the carriage
I gingerly got while looking down, wondering how will it move
Right before my eyes smoke gathered around the spikes, and carriage rose in the air
And we flew up and soon we Speed Up going toward the red Pagoda in the middle of the sect
Today was the awaking ceremony that was held every five years. Every child from age five to twelve would go there to test their spiritual roots
there was a similar one just outside the mountain sect
I had gone once before when I was five, but; I hadn’t awakened a spiritual root at that time.
I still remember what granny had taught me
Cultivation for mortal is using a hoe to prepare and use the land for growing things
“For immortal instead of using a hoe to plow a field for crops you are using the given breathing technique to prepare your body to receive Qi and then the following way to grow your body and soul, for example, martial artist use martial arts to prepare and harness their vitality and cultivate their body”
I had been preparing for two years. I had already gathered every resource and every possible thing I needed spiritual objects, pills, panacea, including many techniques
I had the ‘blazing sun sutra’, ‘water river sutra’, ‘earth breathing sutra’, ‘wood nursing art’,’ black obsidian essence sutra’ and ‘Dark wood sword art’ where the top of my list of my Daoist cultivation techniques they were all complete till nascent divinity all given to me by granny
As I reincarnated soul I had a lot of confidence in my spiritual root
Even if I don’t have them, I had Plan B
I had even had taken a martial art technique named ’oceanic tide body art’, a Confucianist technique “True flaming essence art” and even a ghost technique ‘5-ghost body art’
As I saw the pagoda approaching closer and closer, I felt happy and excited
I was all prepared to enter this new chapter in my life

The Cosmic Interloper
Synopsis: A cyborg transhuman escapes her corporate indenture and through unfathomably unlikely circumstances, she ends up in a fantasy world of full of unique magic, angry people with sharp implements, and the whole flavor-spectrum of divine entities. Hilarity ensues. Features: - No blue boxes or cultivation, this is not a LitRPG nor about martial arts - Hard-ish Sci-Fi meets hard-ish magic - Generally trying to keep this "rational" Rationale: My primary goal with The Cosmic Interloper is to write something that I myself would enjoy reading. Of course, that’s not the only motivation, but I think it’s the most important one for me to keep in mind, especially as the author. In fact, this whole story came about because after consuming oodles of fiction, I found myself craving a very specific type of story which I couldn’t find many examples of. Then I asked myself, “why not write it myself?” and here we are. Disclaimer: In general, while I’m not writing a comedy, I do intend for this story to be funny and a bit wacky or absurd. That said though, I am using this story as a vehicle to explore some potentially dark topics including (but not limited to) slavery, speciesism/racism, and existential questions of self, consciousness, and identity. Still, I’m going to leave the “traumatizing content” tags off, because I don’t feel that what I’ve written so far (or plan on writing) exceeds the threshold that would be necessary for me to tag it thusly. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way she views the world is not the objective truth (if such a thing even exists).
8 162The Dungeon that should not be
Humans always wondered if they were alone in the universe. They theorised the possible existence of different universes. Humans also neglected to care for their planet and their greed prevented them from moving to renewable energy. The pic is not mine, if the artist has an issue with me using it as a cover I will get rid of it.

Through a journey of self discovery, the truth finally comes clear. Do people actually disappear on the 8th floor? Are the rumors just lies or the truth? Is there another motive behind all the chaos?
8 167Ephemeral World
Our story takes place in a world far different from the one we know. A world where magic reigns supreme rather than science. Majestic castles and huge walls stood mightily across the lands. The largest continent of this world has 4 major kingdoms waging war at each other, the elves that reside on the east, dwarves on the northern side, the west is inhabited by the beastkin, and humans strives to survive in the south. The warring state of this world lasted for 600 years and stopped when all the oracles of each kingdom received the same prophecy which was "Whilst the residents of this world fights one another, a great catastrophe shall engulf it. An abominable race shall arrive and shall take over this world". And thus, the kingdoms agreed and joined forces with each other to protect this world. The catastrophe arrived, the great war of the alliance against the abominable race which they called Epivious commenced. The war lasted for many years, countless lives were taken. With the alliance at a disadvantage, they decided to summon heroes from different worlds to help them.
