The world is in chaos. Almost seventy percent of the world is undead.

Everyone was unprepared for something so sudden.

This all started with the meteor that swept through the city and destroyed the whole thing. The space agencies around the world were puzzled by this and couldn’t come up with an answer.

Except for the sudden temperature change, nothing changed on the earth. A small percentage of the planet’s population was affected by a mystical disease, which had symptoms of normal malaria, but tests showed none.

However, everything took a turn for the worse in just two days. Reports indicate that some people went on a rampage and bit and killed everyone at the site.

They kept all of this under the radar so as not to cause panic among the population. But the situation deteriorated quickly after more reports arrived.

Several people who held key positions in government were affected. As a result, governments fell all over the globe, and the military took over.

Now, the key priority of the military in all nations was to save the remaining population.

Undead people have no sense of intelligence, they attack any living being on-site and are sensitive to noise. However, they are easy to kill.

Yet some of the undead are reported to consume one another. Although everyone found the behavior strange, they were prepared for any adversities that may arise.

However, adversity also brought opportunities. Several of the humans were mutated and possessed different superpowers. Almost immediately, the military created a special cell for the Power Holders, who were leading the battle against the undead.

Many of the power holders were those who had the strange disease.

In the late evening, Lisa was laying on the couch, and still feeling a little ill when she remembered the view in the room. Her gaze kept turning toward the closed door of the room where she found the kid’s corpse.

Since there was still electricity in the villa, Alex boiled some water for instant noodles that he had found in the house.

As Alex entered the Hall, carrying two bowls of noodles, he saw Lisa curled up on the couch. He knew she had been horrified by what had happened to the child.

Alex said softly, “Have some noodles.” as he approached the couch.

As Lisa looked at Alex for a moment, she sat up and took the bowl from his hands, but she did not eat the noodles.

Alex sat next to Lisa and whispered.

“You will have to get used to this. I believe this will be the world we live in.”

Her gaze remained fixed on Alex for a few moments before she nodded.

As she ate the noodles, she remained silent.

Alex took Lisa’s bowl and said, “There is room up there. Take a bath and spend the night there.”

Lisa looked up and asked, “What about you?”

“I’ll sleep on the couch here,” Alex said as soon as he heard it.

She looked down for a moment before looking up again and asking, “Will you sleep with me today? I know I’m scared to be alone.”

She immediately explained, “Don’t misunderstand. I just don’t want to be alone.”.

Alex looked at her for some time before nodding.

Both of them went upstairs, to the room, which was probably the bedroom of the couple.

There was a lot of space in the room, and judging from the looks of it, the couple appeared to be quite wealthy. In addition, the room had a huge couch.

“You can take the bath, I will be here,” Alex smiled at Lisa and sat on the couch.

As Lisa glanced around the room, she saw a cupboard; she opened it to find neatly arranged clothes inside. With the towel in hand, she entered the bathroom and locked the door.

The sound of flowing water from the bathroom interrupted Alex’s thoughts. He turned his head to face the opaque glass of the bathroom. He could make out a blurry image of Lisa through it.

He smiled slightly and turned his gaze away.

She came out a while later with her hair wrapped in a towel and wore the same clothes as before.

Lisa spotted Alex sitting on the couch, his eyes closed.

“You can go now,” she said as she approached him.

He was stunned for a moment but recovered quickly after seeing Lisa’s beautiful face. In truth, he never paid attention to her for the entire time.

After nodding at her, he got up, grabbed a towel from the cupboard, and went to the bathroom.

As Lisa spotted the blurry figure of Alex through the opaque glass, she was dumbfounded. Before, she didn’t realize the bathroom was made of glass.

Her face blushed instantly as she imagined Alex spying on her naked figure through the glass.

Taking off the towel from her head, she slipped on the bed and covered herself with the quilt right away.

Her imagination ran wild as she covered herself with the quilt, then she heard the creak of a door. There was no doubt who had just walked out of the bathroom. Her heartbeat sped up as she pictured Alex sleeping beside her.

This lifted the depressed mood she had this entire time.

However, even after waiting for quite a while, she could not feel Alex lying beside her.

Slowly lifting the quilt, she saw Alex had turned the light off, but she could see clearly in the dark. After that, she saw Alex staring out the window.

Slowly, she got out of bed and approached him.

“What are you looking at?” she asked, standing alongside him.

After looking at her for a moment, he looked out of the window again.

“Everything is too silent. There are no signs of the undead in town, and I somehow feel strange about it”

“Sleep now. We will leave early in the morning,” he said to her while taking a deep breath.

After some hesitation, she said.

“Can you sleep beside me? I’m scared”

She stammered, “So... Don’t think too much, I will maintain distance from you.”.

He glanced at her flushed face and nodded after a while.

After a while, Alex and Lisa lied on opposite sides of the bed.

After feeling movement outside, Alex opened his eyes in the middle of the night. He turned to see Lisa, who was clutching onto him and with one of her legs over his stomach.

When he saw her behavior, he was unsure whether to laugh or cry.

A loud noise suddenly jolted him back to reality.
