Alvin walked close to Alex and said, "Give me your arm."
Alex hesitated a bit but eventually gave him his arm.
Alvin rolled up Alex's slave and injected the needle into his arm.
He pressed the trigger and the liquid in the gun went into Alex's arm.
Alvin walked back to the set of computers and tapped a few keys.
He unplugged the bracelet from the USB and gave it to Alex; "Here. I modified it. You can trace your mutations through the nanobots I injected in you."
Alex strapped on the bracelet and Ruff took him back home.
Ruff woke up early the next morning and headed to school.
He kept the bracelet in his locker since no phones were allowed in the examinations.
"Hey, Alex." greeted Abigail, who sat behind Alex.
The class had been rearranged to avoid any kind of cheating.
"Hello," he replied.
They waited for the examiner to bring in the question papers.
After 2 minutes, the papers arrived and they were all set for the exam.
Alex finished the examination 30 minutes before time but he decided to remain seated in order not to put others under pressure.
The bell rang and everyone collected the papers and headed out to the hallways.
It was break time but there was hardly anyone in the cafeteria.
Most people were in the hallways trying to memorize whatever they could for the next paper.
The bell rang indicating it was time for students to head back home.
Once Alex reached home, he took a bath, changed into a new set of clothes, and headed out.
When he passed by his brother's room, he overheard him have a conversation with someone.
"The protectors..." was all he could make out of the voice in his room.

He knocked gently on the door and opened it.
David sat at his study desk with headsets on looking at his desktop.
He turned and caught sight of Alex; "Alex. What brings you here?"
He then removed the headsets from his ears.
"Who were you talking to?"
"No one. The game was loud so I inserted the headsets in," he answered tapping the headset.
"Oh okay. I'll be heading out." Alex closed the door and left the house.
As he walked on the boulevard, he received a notification on the bracelet.
A screen got projected on his arm.
Mutation: telepathy Level 0
"That must be what Alvin meant." he thought to himself then turned off the bracelet.
Alex went downstairs to the subway station.
The subway was filled to the brim with people coming back from school or work.
He squeezed through the crowd as he made his way.
He finally reached an area that he could finally breathe.
"Your friends were here." a voice said in Alex's mind.
"Where are you?" Alex looked around.
"Hahaha. Am not here dear."
"Then why the hell did you call me here."
"Hmmm, I want you to meet someone."
And immediately someone knocked him on his shoulder as he ran.
He was an old man around his 70s carrying a black suitcase.
He looked old but he ran like an athlete.
The subway police followed suit and chased him while yelling for him to surrender.
"Follow him." the voice said.
And immediately Alex followed the pursuit.
The two policemen stopped running when they lost sight of the old man.
Alex who was following behind them also halted.
He then tried to pick up the thoughts of the old man.
A young girl, wearing a pink backpack came out of a corridor.

"Hello officers, she greeted in a sweet voice looking up at the men in uniform.
One of the police bent down and looked at the girl;" Have you seen an old man wearing a white shirt and carry a black suitcase.
The girl seemed to be in thought for a moment. Until she lifted her finger as if remembering something;" Yes. I did see him. He went that way. " she said pointing at the corridor she came from.
The police wasted no time and ran to where the girl pointed.
The girl proceeded to where she was going skipping happily.
"What a bunch of losers!" she thought to herself.
Alex's girl bypassed Alex and continued skipping.
He heard her thoughts and followed quietly behind her.
He followed her out of the subway, and into an alley.
But then she threw the bag on her back to the ground and immediately she started morphing into a 17-year-old teenager.
He picked up the bag and turns around to leave the alley then caught sight of Alex look at him in awe.
"What kid? What do you want?" he authoritatively asked Alex as he approached him.
"Have you been following me?"
"Yes," Alex replied simply.
"What are you carrying in that bag?"
"It's none of your business. Now, get out of my way." he walked past Alex.
Alex turned to look at the kid leave; "Pulse."
The kid halted in his steps and turned around; "You know pulse?"
"Nope I don't, I was hoping maybe you did."
"I don't know her either. She's been speaking in my thoughts but we have never met." the kid answered in a dazed look.
Alex stretched out his hand for a handshake; "Am Alex by the way."
The teen shook his hand and replied, "Hector."
"Are you a meta too?" Hector asked while retracting his hand and grabbed the straps of his backpack.
"Yep. Am a telepath. And you...must be a shapeshifter."
"Yes, I am."
"So that's how you found me," Hector said in realization.
"Yep," Alex nodded his head.
Alex arrived at home when his family was already having their dinner.
"Where had you gone Alex?" asked Henry when he noticed Alex at the door.
"I've been at uncle Ruff's place," Alex said as he approached the dining table.
"Should I call him?" Henry hoped to trap Alex this time.
Alex hesitated a while until he replied, "Yes you can."
Henry wasted no time at all and picked his phone from his pocket then dialed Ruff's number.
