《King Of All Heavens》Chapter 46: Alchemy

"This spiderling was caught by an expert. But unfortunately, the spiderling was too much for him to handle as it was vicious and was very poisonous. However, it is still a spiderling. Thus, it can still be tamed. Its authenticity is guaranteed by this auction house." The hostess said.
The crowd murmured to themselves and their eyes shined. A magical beast was very rare! Especially when it was just a cub or in this case, a spiderling! One such magical beast can become a powerful ally in battles! Can be relied on even more so than humans!
"The bidding price will start at a million middle quality spirit stones" the hostess said.
"A million and two hundred thousand middle quality spirit stones!"
"A million and four hundred thousand middle quality spirit stones!"
"1,700,000 middle quality spirit stones!"
The numbers just kept rising and rising. Wang Tian slowly watched and waited for the right time to bid. Although he didn't mind spending, that didn't mean that he would waste it wantonly. That would just be foolish.
It finally slowed down when the numbers reached an astronomical price of two million and five hundred thousand middle quality spirit stones. This amount equalled to two hundred and fifty high quality spirit stones.
"Five hundred high quality spirit stones" Wang Tian said without batting an eye.
"Heavens!"
"Are you joking?!"
"How are we supposed to match that?"
The crowd grumbled and infinitely cursed Wang Tian inwardly.
The hostess's eyes shined and she looked over the crowd.
"Five hundred high quality spirit stones!"
"Oh well, might as well not bid or we might offend him. Besides, he might be from that sect but that doesn't make him an omnipotent god who can tame just anything right?"
"Going once!"
"Going twice!
"Sold to that young master!" She said with a dazzling smile.
After the spiderling was sold, the auction proceeded but there was nothing else that could interest Wang Tian. As for Senior Golem, how could he take interest in something as barren as this place?
The items were delivered to Wang Tian soonlly after the auction ended.
Wang Tian didn't look at them but simply nodded. He waved his hands and bade farewell to the boss of the auction. Returning to the inn nonchalantly.
He looked at the items in front of him and couldn't help but nod satisfiedly.
Ah! What bountiful gains only for just a few thousand spirit stones!
First, he looked at the Dark Heaven Cauldron and found it to not be bad. He stored it away in his bag of holding. Next, he looked at the Nine Sunflower Herb and thought to himself,
'I'll refine this into a pill after I become an Alchemist Master.'
Thirdly, He looked at the flame spirit in his hands. It was not up to his standards but he had to deal with it for now as things don't happen the way you want them to. Well, not when you're the main character of your story.
He refined the flame spirit. He guided it next to his Dantian. The flame spirit was resistant at first but now it completely submitted itself to Wang Tian. This process took at least three hours.

After he refined the flame spirit, with the knowledge and experience that he inherited from his master, he skillfully manipulated the flame spirit to manifest a small flame ball in his right hand.
Last but not the least, the spiderling. The spiderling was caged inside a small box that was made from the toughest and most resilient woods in their area.
Wang Tian opened the box slowly and he saw a five inch spiderling staring at him with its nine eyes. Yes this spiderling, unlike any others, had nine eyes. It also had a hexagon sign on its back. It had long fangs and nine legs. Its color was a bit blood red with a mix of white but the hair on its body was black. It was a beautiful yet scary creature.
Wang Tian looked at it intently. He thought about it for a moment and then removed his eye patch and revealed his left eye.
He also rolled up the sleeve of his right arm and showed the spiderling his scales.
The spiderling looked at him and then jumped on him.
"Ahh!" Wang Tian shouted in surprise. He didn't expect the spiderling to latch onto him.
Senior Golem instantly rushed to his room and asked worriedly,
"Young Master what's wrong?!"
Wang Tian didn't move but instead turned around to let Senior Golem see what was happening.
Senior Golem's pupils constricted as he looked at the scene. After a few seconds, he finally recovered and then laughed heartily. The spiderling was on Wang Tian's shoulder and rubbing his face with its face!
"Haha, it looks like the spiderling likes you!" Senior Golem said with a wide grin.
"Maybe it's because of my bloodline?" Wang Tian answered.
Senior Golem nodded and said,
"Maybe that is so. It is a spider after all."
"Alright I'll leave you two and go back to my room" Senior Golem said as he closed the door.
Wang Tian grabbed ahold of the little guy and then put it into his hand.
'But if it is because of my bloodline, why is this spiderling so daring in front of me? Isn't it supposed to submit to a more powerful beast?' Staring intently at the spiderling, he thought.
'Then again, maybe it's just too little to even realize that I'm filled with blood of a powerful beast'
He rubbed the little spider and then said, "I think I'll call you Little Blood"
The little spider looked at him cutely and then jumped on his chest and then crawled its way to his chest. Spiders are naturally nocturnal creatures so they are much more accustomed to the darkness. The only thing close to having darkness and also close to Wang Tian was in Wang Tian's clothes. It made a choice and unhesitatingly took it. It cozied itself up in Wang Tian's chest and even made a few webs. Wang Tian now looked like he had a huge single boob in the middle of his chest. It was quite a funny scene actually.
It was a good thing that Wang Tian wasn't arachnophobic or else he would probably die from panic just by being watched by the spiderling's creepy nine eyes.
...
Word of what happened in the auction spread. House Xi was now filled with countless experts from every direction.

"Quickly! Hold your own!" The head of House Xi said.
The members all nodded as they hid their women in their houses.
"I am very sorry but you see, a thousand high quality spirit stone is very important to me. And if I do this, maybe I'll even get a good impression from that kid." A Heavenly King expert said.
A Heavenly King expert was very powerful. People like the members of the Council of Judges could be easily killed by them with just a flick of their hands. They were so powerful that they could demolish a mountain with just a breath.
"Yeah that's right!" The surrounding cultivators all nodded. Whether they were sect cultivators or not, they were present. All of those who heard that Wang Tian was giving out spirit stones were here. Except for the Water Dragon Palace as they were all proud individuals. They refused to take part in such a barbaric event.
There were at least a hundred cultivators present. Ranging from a Zifu Realm Expert to a Heavenly King. They were all here to have a slice of the pie.
"Hmp! You think we will surrender just because you've outnumbered us!?" The head of the House Xi furiously shouted.
"Men from this House, FIGHT FOR YOUR LIVES SO THAT WE CAN SEE ANOTHER DAY! LET US BE COMRADES IN THE NEXT LIFE! Old Second! Lead the vanguard!" The House Leader said. He bolstered their morale and then called out to his brother. His brother was the one who got them into this mess. At first, they wanted to surrender him and offer him to Wang Tian but decided against it since Wang Tian obviously didn't want just him but every single one of them. They ultimately decided to fight back since there was no other option.
The cultivators fought and that night, a house from the Moon Summit Empire was obliterated. Erased and became history.
...
"My Lord, it seems that things are getting out of hand. We have reports saying that the House Xi were slaughtered. Men and women alike whether they were old or young. They were all slaughtered. This is clearly an act of cutting the roots to avoid future trouble. The thing that made me dumbfounded was that they all were decapitated. But their heads are nowhere to be found." A Heavenly King said while he knelt to a person sitting on a chair.
"Hmmm, leave them be. What else can we do? They're from that sect. We are merely lowly creatures in front of them." The man sitting on the chair said.
This man was called Emperor Moon. The emperor and current ruler of the Moon Summit Empire.
...
"Is this the Alchemist Guild?" Wang Tian asked the alchemist guild.
"Yes it is." the boss of the inn nodded and said.
"Alright, you have done well." Wang Tian smiled and gave the boss of the inn five high quality spirit stones.
The boss cupped his fist, bowed and then left. As for Wang Tian, he entered the Alchemist Guild.
Today, Senior Golem wasn't with him nor was Little Blood. Wang Tian entrusted the little guy to his senior so that he could feed it since it was growing very restless in the past few days.
He walked inside the guild and was instantly greeted by a medicine like aroma.
'Is this coming from the pills here?' Wang Tian thought. It was a very refreshing scent. His eyes were getting a bit excited. The more experience he gained in the pill dao, the more chances he has of treating his father's injuries. Fortunately for him, all he needed was familiarization of the steps. However, that's all in the future, first, he still has to think of a way on how to get an alchemist badge. While it wasn't really necessary for him to get an alchemist badge to get the resources he needed, he didn't want to rely on his status as being the member of the Seven Star Sword Sect forever. He wanted to use his skills and the assets he inherited to rise up. Not be dependent on the sect. Otherwise, if he didn't use the things that he gained, what was the point of having them in the first place?
"Hello, I'd like to take the exam and become an Alchemist Master" Wang Tian said as he approached an old man.
"Huh? You want to take the exam and become an Alchemist Master?" The old man said. This old man is called Ku Feng. He sized Wang Tian up from head to toe.
"Aren't you a little too young for that?" He asked. No matter how he looked at it, Wang Tian was just a teenager. There was no way in hell that he would he able to pass the exam.
Wang Tian scratched his head and said,
"hehe"
"Are you even an Alchemist Apprentice?" Ku Feng asked.
Wang Tian shook his head and then said,
"I was trained in pill dao by my master for years but we hadn't had the time to ever get an emblem symboling that we are Alchemists." Wang Tian said pitifully. His acting was flawless.
Ku Feng raised his brows when he heard what Wang Tian said and then he shook his head.
"I'm sorry, only Alchemist Apprentices are allowed to take the exam to become an Alchemist Master." Ku Feng said.
"How long does one have to wait to become an Alchemist Master using this method?" Wang Tian asker.
"If you're talented, maybe a year or so. But if you're just average or slightly above average, then it can take from three years to even a decade." Ku Feng explained.
Wang Tian creased his brows and said, "Isn't there another way?" Wang Tian asked.
Ku Feng clicked his tongue and replied after some time.
"Hmmmm... There is a way. Come with me" Ku Feng said as he led Wang Tian to a room that was plastered with scrolls.
"Child, I've lived for a few hundred years and my intuition has never failed me. I can sense that you are different from the rest. So I shall grant you an opportunity" Ku Feng said as he stared meaningfully at Wang Tian.

Entangled Fates Book 1 - Quantum Beginnings
“By far, the greatest danger of Artificial Intelligence is that people conclude too early that they understand it.” —Eliezer Yudkowsky Hey all, we're moving over to book 2. This content is in a state of transition. The book is now availble on Amazon (includes extra chapters): https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07W1534R8 Artificial intelligence was nearly mankind’s last invention. AI took off like a rocket, then when it racked up an impressive death toll, it crashed before it could blossom and took most high-tech industries with it. Resistance and fears became deep-set. Two decades after the infamous Rev. 4.6 incidents, humanity hasn’t quit dreaming of the wealth and power that could be at their fingertips. A new generation of mega-corporations rose from the ashes. When one melds a quantum computer to a barely functional mental patient as a PR move, there are those who seek to profit, those who want to destroy it, and Alex. Alex Sage is a typical college student trying to keep up his grades and maybe find a meaningful connection with the fairer sex. Then, an automated semi crashes into his home, killing his family and turning his head into a pin cushion in the process. Alex awakens to find most of his memories gone and an illegal AI hidden in his brain implant. Now the pet project of a tech billionaire and heavily in debt, Alex struggles to stay valuable enough to be kept online. Still grappling with the repercussions of his injuries, and threats from a dangerous anti-augmentation political movement, there are no easy answers and threats loom around every corner. Alex must use whatever resources he can to escape from under the thumb of a ruthless corporation, while keeping those he comes to love safe. Chapters will stay up on RRL until Aug 10. It'll go up on Kindle Unlimited after that. How do you get those extra chapters I didn't have planned for RR? If you want them, they'll be in the published book. Book 2 will still make sense without them - I made sure of that. But... isn't $3 a lot for extra chapters? Think of it as tipping me for a good job and you'd also be getting my eternal thanks. If you enjoyed it so much that the idea of missing out a few chapters haunts you, I did my job as an author and made an engaging story. What's in those extra chapters? Resolving a few issues, set up for the cybernetic revolution, a rather intense sex scene with a new partner, revelations of who's really pulling strings, and a bit of set up for book 2. Complaints that people missed out on it when it was published here won't help (sorry!). I posted this for the folks who helped me shape the book, which is you all! (Again, yay!) But... Why! Why not keep it all on RR forever? My editor likes being paid for one. For two, I'd like the ability to get broader readership. If I break even on editor costs, I'll be incredibly happy. What about book 2? Drafts for Book 2 will go up around Sept 10. My draft of Book 2 is done, and it will be handed to the editor once Book 1 is published. Feedback has been even more positive. Beta readers devoured it and wanted more. I'll add a link to Book 2 once it's up on RR. I'm more or less, using you all for Beta Readers, so you get it before it's "canon" and edited. I invite active and meaningful feedback during this process. In return, you get early access to chapters. That does mean that the book content or plot might be adjusted before it gets published as I refine it. Sex Y/N? Yes. I heard the feedback, 90% wanted it explicit. You all will get the "full" experience. Will I dump all of book 2 here? Honestly, I'm not sure yet. At a minimum, it'll be up to the 75% mark as we collect feedback, much like what I did with book 1. It really depends on how good the feedback is and how nice people are. Lots of support + meaningful feedback to make it better = higher likelihood you get all the book. Will be it up here indefinitely? No, it'll probably go up on KU at some point, but I'll make sure there's enough time for a large readership to grab it here. Then we move to book 3 which already is around 60K words already. What about other adventures in the same universe/characters? Yep. Absolutely. Nothing ready to share yet though. I plan to keep those side chapters and more slice of life stories as RR exclusive. Since I'm carving this off in book-sized segments, I'll have to figure out where those disconnected story arcs belong. I'm open to suggestions.

Interface
Welcome to the World-City of Thousel, the sixth iteration of life on the planet. These are the recordings of the people of Thousel. Thousel is believed to be the second longest iteration of life, and the overall most prosperous compared to what we know about the past five iterations. Medicine and technology have all progressed abundantly, and the world itself has been turned into one great city, governed and managed by the Governmental-Company Alliance, or the GCA.These particular recordings concern the discovery of a peculiar machine. When two very different people find themselves bound by the fate of one mysterious bot, life in the World-City begins to change… Interface is a cyberpunk webnovel set in an ecumenopolis world where people evolved with electro-sensory abilities. These senses shape the face of modern technology and life in a world where the three largest corporations run what has effectively become the government. Each of these three companies control various aspects of life in the city, and they all constantly vie for domain and power over one another. The world stands at the precipice of biological, technological, and historical breakthrough. After decades of study into microbiology, archaeology, and geology, it has been discovered that sentient life has lived on the planet multiple times over. These past peoples are referred to as the “prior iterations of life,” and it is believed that five great civilizations were constructed before the rise of the modern world. No one can be sure for certain what caused these peoples’ extinction long ago, and the theories range from simply dying off over time to massive tectonic fractures in the face of the planet. Advanced technology, far more complicated than anything the people possess today, has been uncovered in multiple locations. This has lead scholars to speculate on exactly how long each iteration of life survived and how far they progressed as a society. None of the companies have been able to find a way to make this ancient technology work for their own profit. It is as though they are each missing the final key needed to unlock these centuries old secrets. What could this knowledge reveal about the nature of life across every iteration? What power could it give to the one who wields it?Far from the investigation into the origin of life, two kids unlock a new mystery – one that ties their fates to the discovery of an old, mysterious robot. Suddenly, eyes begin to turn towards them as life in the city of Thousel changes wherever they go…
