《King Of All Heavens》Chapter 37: A thousand lashings

"How are you still alive!? When you clearly are a Houtian Lifeform? Hm? That's right! You used a defensive talisman! Yes yes. I get it now! Haha Wang Tian you sly piece of shit! You dare use defensive talismans when the conditions we set forbid you to do so! The bet is now null and void! Hahahahah" Old Fourth laughed out loud and slandered Wang Tian.
"Shameless! Supremely and utterly shameless!" The other three elders as well as Zhou Weiqing shouted angrily.
"We all clearly saw what happened! We would know if he used a defensive talisman or not!"
"Are you taking us for fools? Do you think we're like you? How dare you underestimate our capability to judge and remember what happened!?"
Shu Mingzhu sighed and said, "You three. Please stop this nonsense, you all clearly lost. Wang Tian even let you hit him twice! Twice I told you, twice! He gave you one more chance but the results were the same. You all should just accept the results. After all, you're all still the members of the Council of Judges. Your dignity as the Council of Judges are still hanging over your heads. Please, do not disgrace its name."
She was a bit unruly before since she beat up Old Sixth and Old Third. Even giving them minor injuries. But deep down, she cared about them. They're all her men. Members of her council. Telling them to stop in this way would not only give them a leeway into dying with dignity but also giving their death a much more lighter ending. As they all died true and loyal to the council and the sect.
"Oh I see what's happening now! Of course! How could I be so blind!" Old Third shouted as his eyes swept the people of the opposite party.
"You're all in cahoots with this kid! That's why you're all so eager on defending this brat! What's so special about him anyway? He killed his own fellow sect members! Why does he need to be kept alive?" Old Third growled at them and said in one breath.
"Because even though he killed his fellow sect members, he still followed the rules right after. He defeated me and thus, deserves to have his punishment alleviated." Zhou Weiqing said.
"How is this kid's life more valuable than the the lives of all the six kids combined? Is he some kind of messiah? Some kind of prophet or a chosen one maybe?" Old Sixth backed up Old Third and retorted.
"What? You still dare to bring that farce up? Are you proud that he defeated you? You, a Peak Master was defeated by a lowly Houtian Lifeform. Are you proud of that? Do you think that people will still look at you the same way? Do you still think that you still deserve the status of a Peak Master?" Old Fourth said ruthlessly. He scoffed and said, "Please. Don't make me laugh."
Zhou Weiqing's expression turned pale. This was his sore spot. Old Fourth was right, he was indeed the Peak Master of a Mountain peak. Yet he was still defeated by a child. Was he really worthy of such a fabulous title?
"Hmp! Cheap tricks Old Fourth. You still dare to try to drive a wedge between us even though your lives are in Wang Tian's hands? Are you that hung up on dying?" Old First retorted.
The three of them were against the other three for such a long time now that it has become something that has been a headache for Shu Mingzhu. But they couldn't stop themselves either way. Furthermore, now that these three troublemakers were in the point of no return, they were more than happy to kick them while they're down. In fact, it was very satisfying for them. These three people, Old Third, Old Fourth and Old Sixth are all heinous and despicable people. The three were caught by Old First and Old Second when they were out on a stroll. These disgusting people were luring female disciples into their homes so that they could do lewd acts with them and use them as cultivation furnaces! How despicable was that? However, Old First and Old Second didn't attack them or stop them since it was against the rules to attack or kill. And if people heard their yells and screams, the reputation of the Council of Judges will be tarnished! Rumours travel like wildfire after all! Anything that happened inside the sect walls would all be revealed. This is what they would least wanted to happen. How could disciples trust them to uphold justice when they themselves can't even control their lust? But there was nothing left to do but to have Lady Seventh reprimand them privately.

"You all shall suffer heaven's watchful eye! You all dared to lie to us! The heavens will not forgive you!" Old Sixth said with an icy voice.
"hahahahahahahahah. Marvelous truly marvelous!" Wang Tian laughed out loud and said.
"Truly the most marvelous act I have ever seen! You three, you don't dare to acknowledge that you lost even though all of the people here have witnessed what happened! I think that if you three were to be given a title then you would perfectly fit the title of 'Three shameless Kings!'. In fact, if there was a king that's utterly shameless, then I fear that you three would far surpass him! Everyone here saw what had happened clearly. Now, are you going to kill yourself or are you not afraid of facing the wrath of the heavens?" Wang Tian said with a smile.
The skies roared after Wang Tian said this. The heavens were clearly waiting for their decision.
The three's faces were extremely unsightly. Being the oldest amongst the three, Old Sixth was the most tenacious and decisive. "Old Third, as you were my brother, I assisted you in doing what you wanted. I have willingly involved myself into this mess. However, I hope that you can be much more reliable as a brother in our next life!" Old Sixth said and then he flicked his palm. In an instant, a sword appeared. He decisively decapitated himself. Blood gushed out from his neck like a fountain. His head flopped down into the ground with his face showing decisiveness but also a bit of regret.
"As Old Sixth has said, I also willingly dragged myself into this mess! This I shall no longer shy away from the responsibility while I still have my dignity. I think I'd rather go down as man who completes his end of the bargain rather than a man who was struck by the heavens." Old Fourth said and then he turned to Wang Tian.
"You are the future of this sect. My greatest regret in this life is that I dared to be so foolish enough to provoke you. Now with Old Sixth, I no longer have the drive to shirk away from the deal." He said and then he also turned to Shu Mingzhu.
"Lady Seventh, forgive me for what I have done. I may be a scoundrel and malicious but I am loyal to the sect. I was just blind enough to see Wang Tian as an enemy rather than an ally."
Shu Mingzhu heard this and her eyes started to be filled with strange emotions.
And lastly, Old Fourth looked towards the three other members of the council.
Old Fourth laughed and said, "You all are pricks! Take care of the sect for us ladies!"
Old Fourth looked towards the sky and then he shouted, "Long live the Seven Star Sword Sect!". He decapitated his own head. His head crashed down into the ground. However his face was showing an expression of relief.
'How funny, to think that these people would use this method and think that they will die in flames! Hahaha how pathetic!' Wang Tian laughed inwardly and thought.
'Although I do have to commend them for their flawless act! Loyalty to the sect? Bullshit! If you people were loyal to the sect then you wouldn't do something that would not benefit the sect! You people wouldn't do something that would result in only your personal gain!' Wang Tian thought and snorted in his mind. How fucking pretentious. He hated these sort of people.

'Once you've committed a foolish act, don't even dare to think that just because you said flowery words, you'd be able to leave without your reputation getting tarnished! Actions speak louder than words you fucking hypocrites.'
Old Third was the last amongst the tree. He was looking on in shock by what has happened. He did not dare to believe that his two brothers are dead. He looked at Wang Tian, dropped down and kowtowed. "Oh humble and gracious most benevolent Wang Tian. Please please! Spare me! I'm too young to die! I have a family! I have a grandson that I need to take care off! Please spare me!! I'll do anything for you! I'm even willing to be your servant!" He gritted his teeth and said with no sense of shame.
'Hmp. A brat like him is so naive. I'll endure this humiliation for now but I will come for you, you fucking brat! Old Sixth and Old Fourth are fools and cowards to think that death is the only way left.' Old Third thought to himself.
Wang Tian looked at Old Third with interest. "Oh? Lick my foot then" Wang Tian said to tease Old Third. 'You think I can't see through you? Don't be stupid. Your actions are as clear as day to me.'
Old Third felt rage about to consume him but he quickly suppressed it. All his efforts of acting would bear no fruit if he exploded right now.
That's why he gritted his teeth and then inched closer towards Wang Tian's feet. He started to slowly reach for the boy's feet.
The others saw this and they all looked at him with disgust and disdain.
'Your accomplices have all died honorably! Why can't you just die like them? Are you really ready to throw away your pride and reputation to live?' All of them thought. Even Shu Mingzhu's face was filled with disgust.
Wang Tian laughed in his mind and then stomped on Old Third's hand. Old Third shrieked in pain. Wang Tian stretched his right hand and then in an instant, he was holding the Soul Reaper Scythe. The crowd gasped at the scene. 'What kind of weapon is this?'
Wang Tian pointed it towards Old Third and said, "A bet is a bet."
"No! Wait!" Old Third cried out. He forgot that he was a realm above
Wang Tian when he saw the weapon that Wang Tian was holding. It instilled fear into his heart.
Wang Tian looked at him indifferently. He swung up the Soul Reaping Scythe to the air and then down. Instantly decapitating Old Third's head. Forever trapping Old Third's soul in his weapon. Wang Tian smiled and then casually absorbed the Dark Qi from Old Third's body.
He looked at the bodies and then thought to himself, 'I should have killed you two myself. I could have harvested Dark Qi from the both of you.'
Wang Tian then turned towards the people left with him. 'Should I kill them since they saw my weapon? Or should I not? Well, I guess I'll keep them alive since they're more useful to me alive than dead.' Wang Tian thought to himself as he scanned the people in front of him.
He then casually said, "The matter is over seniors, what will my punishment be?". The crowd was still in a daze before Wang Tian spoke. That's why it took a few seconds before they could reply. Shu Mingzhu looked at Wang Tian profoundly. 'Killing six fellow sect disciples with just a glare, defeating the peak master, defending against three Zifu realm experts and killing a cultivator a realm above him in one stroke. How did he do it?? Is he some kind of monster? More importantly, how is he still alive? He clearly didn't execute any techniques and use any defensive talismans to protect him. If word gets out, i fear that he will be sought after by many. Impeding his cultivation.' Shu Mingzhu mused to herself.
She looked at the other people with her and said, "Fellow cultivators, I hope that no one will know about this matter."
They all nodded and then swore heavenly oaths to never tell a soul about what had transpired. What a joke! If words got out that almost half of the Council of Judges's members were forced to decapitate themselves by a brat, how would they be able to face the world? Thus they didn't need to be told or reminded of this.
She then turned to Wang Tian and said, "Your punishment will be a thousand lashings to the back."
She thought of this as a way to probe Wang Tian's defense. To prove that his body is immensely superior and powerful to the point of being able to take damage from people whose realms are above him.
Wang Tian looked at her and said, "Alright."
He readily agreed because how painful could it be? Could it be more painful than being beaten into a pulp by Lady Second?
"Good. Now come with me and I'll bring you there. Don't try anything funny." Shu Mingzhu said.
Wang Tian thought about it and nodded. "Will I be back before the Inner Selection takes place?"
He still wanted to participate in the competition since he wanted to know the limits of his capabilities.
"Oh no, don't worry about that. Since you defeated me, you are more than qualified to represent this peak in the upcoming competition." Zhou Weiqing said awkwardly. Indeed, it would be a rather funny thing if someone who could defeat him not be able to represent the peak.
Wang Tian's eyes brightened. He bowed towards Zhou Weiqing and said, "Many thanks Senior! I won't let you down!"
"Oh and by the way, where is my cousin?" Wang Tian asked.
"Uh he left a while ago with the other disciples. I think he got swarmed by the other disciples so maybe that's why he didn't have the time to tell you." Old First said.
Wang Tian nodded and all of them left.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Throughout the Ages
A new virtual reality game has just been released, different to any that have come before it. Throughout the Ages sees the players guiding a small community from the the stone age onwards, acting as benevolent gods that inspire and bless their charges. The peoples of Lorinas are not mere abstractions, though, but complex AI with their own thoughts and motives, living in a rich and dangerous fantasy world! Follow the tale of John, the uninteresting author self-insert character, and his sexy AI handmaiden Jade, as they pursue success in a game where their decisions can mean life or death! This story is supposed to be a dungeon lord like story in a VR multiplayer setting, I hope people who read it enjoy it. Partially ghostwritten by the incredibly handsome and clever Sniggyfigbat, and edited by the occasionally competent Dosahder.(Warning: this synopsis might not be entirely objective) (Upload schedule is highly irregular due to having to match three different plannings) more tags might be added in the future. Also it is my first story so please point out spelling and grammar mistakes.
