《An old mans tale!》First Apples.

"Tell me children, do you know how to tell if an apple is good or not? It has to have crunch. You should always pick good crunchy apples."
"The same way you can smell a ripe canalope or hear the thump of a watermellon, apples need good crunch. It is just the way of things."
"I must say that I am impressed that you young fellas were able to get so many young trees planted. It may seem like a small thing that was just hard to do but it will have long lasting consequence. Though they will mostly be good."
"Food will be easier for the poor to come across. It will also be the start of many a business and provide economic mobility for some."
"This reminds me of the first time that I returned from sea. My old man had a big bushal of apples waiting for me on his front porch. Good memories."
After sailing through storms. After daring the oceans wrath. After seeing the horizon and crossing it for long weeks to gaze apon home is a profound feeling. It is to see that which you came from.
You feel muscles in your body that you did not know were tense relax for the first time in days. You sigh with relief and await shore. Few ships go home with forlone faces on the crew and those that do you should avoid. Those sailors are not all there. They love the sea to much, she will claim all of us in the end but they would gladly rush to her embrace.
On my first voyage I made the mistake of sailing with those mad sea devils and while I would never claim to have done so twice. We sailed within inches of deadly reafs and sandbars. We went through waters that still had pirates in them. Landed at ports that no sane man would go and hit the shore like it were any other.

I am a man that has dared fate and danced within chances embrace but even I would not be so bold to kiss death on his lips. When I got back home I sat with my father eating apples and wept, wept that I had made it back home. With each bite of the apples the crunch grounded me to the present. That is why I love what you children have done so much.
Prehaps now in my old age I would have the courage to sail with those devils once more. After all I am not long for this world. The only thing that stops me is that I do not know how I wish to spend my final days.
I just know that I am not ready for them to end!
