"I'm the only one that you need"

Ace watched on as Catherine walked away from him.
He was stunned.
She had never treated him that way before.
"You will have to prove yourself." He repeated Catherine's last words. He chuckled softly and glanced at the cigarette trapped between his fingers.
"I will surely have you back in my arms, Catherine Meyers. We are not done yet." He muttered.
He wasn't even planning to attend the reunion, he just had to because he wanted to see her. And seeing her being so comfortable with Anitra pissed him off but he held himself back. He has no right to be angry or jealous.

"Now that it didn't work out with Jack Black's daughter. What is your next plan?" Veronica Hampton asked Ace during dinner.
Ace sipped quietly on his wine and glanced at his phone screen. "What do you want me to do, Mother?"
His mother dropped her cutleries on her plate and placed her hand on the table.
"I have had the privilege to engage you with two girls and it didn't work out. I am embarrassed for myself." She said and chuckled. "Relationships are indeed not like business. I am giving you the privilege to choose for yourself this time, Ace. Don't disappoint me either."
He couldn't believe what he heard. He thought he was going to have another season of disagreement with her but it wasn't what he was expecting.
Veronica really did surprise him.
"Are you okay, Mother? Do you need me to call you doctor for you?" Ace inquired. He didn't believe that his mother knew what she was saying.
Veronica rolled her eyes and got up from her chair.
"I mean it this time. But only on one condition." She responded and Ace groaned. He knew that there was a catch.
Veronica Hampton doesn't do things like a normal person. Like a normal mother.
"And what is it?"
"You'll get married in one month to whomever you choose. Of course I won't have a hooker as my daughter in-law so you better choose someone from a well respected family. "
Ace couldn't believe his ears. As she walked out of the dining room Ace kept thinking about what he was told.
He was planning on getting Catherine back no matter if Veronica Hampton approves of it or not. But her actually letting him make a choice for himself was a first.

It has been three days since the reunion and Ace had made sure to send a bouquet of flowers and a note to Catherine every single day but she still refused to talk to him. It hurts but he wasn't planning on giving up anytime soon.

Catherine walked inside the kitchen to drink some water when her eyes caught the flower vases on the kitchen table.
Sterling, Peach blossom, Sunflowers, Roses.
Catherine smiled as she admired the beauty of the flowers. "So he still remembers my favorite flowers." She muttered to herself.
They had a peach tree back in London during the childhood days and that tree was very important to her. An important part of their story.
"He doesn't just give up. He should try harder." She said and opened the fridge to grab a bottle of water when her phone started ringing.
It was a number she didn't know. She answered the call and placed the phone against her ear.
"Hello?"
"Butterfly." The voice whispered. Catherine could tell whom it was instantly. She wanted to hang up the phone when his voice came in again. "I am outside your house. Can I come in?"
No. She couldn't let him in. She shouldn't make it easy for him since he didn't make it easy for her as well.
She hung up the phone and closed her eyes. She glanced at the kitchen window and pursed her lips. Thunders were striking violently outside. She walked towards the window and peeped through the small opening to view outside.
The cloud has darkened and rain could fall in any minute.
"He won't stay out there. I'm sure that he already left. Ace Hampton couldn't bother himself to try hard to get a girl." She uttered and rolled her eyes.
Typical rich guys.
Catherine left the kitchen and went upstairs to her room as rain fell heavily outside. Ace was still standing there. He couldn't just leave.
Seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned to hours but Catherine didn't show up as rain beat him.
His hair was damped and rested against his forehead while his black T-shirt was dripping wet.
His hands were shaking and his teeth chattering inside his mouth.
After a while the front door was pulled open and Catherine walked out.
Since she went to her room she couldn't sleep. She was feeling so uneasy and after so much deliberation she finally decided to go outside and check if Ace was still there just to clear her conscience.

She was stunned when she saw him out there in the rain. Tears rushed into her eyes and her voice cracked as she speaks "Are you dumb? What are you doing in the rain? What if you catch a cold or faint?"
Ace smiled and slowly walked towards her. He placed his cold palm on her cheek and grinned widely.
"You are my medicine." He whispered and sighed as he dropped his head on her shoulder.
It was super uncomfortable for her. A guy of 6ft+ placing his head on her shoulder when she was just 5ft3.
"Ace? Ace?" She called but he wasn't answering.
Catherine wrapped her hand around his waist and managed to drag him inside the house.
She led him to the visitors room and took him to the bathroom.
"Ace? Can you stand so that I can tend to you? I can't do this like this. You're stronger than I am." She stated. Ace raised his head and stared into her eyes. "I will have to undress you so that you can get inside the bathtub before you catch a cold."
He watched quietly as she pulled his t-shirt off his body. Then removed his sneakers before unbuckling his belt.
Catherine gulped and glanced at Ace's face but he was also watching her. Her face flushed in embarrassment and she stuttered "Can I undress you?"
Ace nodded his head and she started pulling down his trouser. Ace was all naked, the only piece of clothing on him was his Calvin Klein boxers.
"I'll get the hot tub ready." She told him and walked away.
After a while Catherine helped Ace inside the bathtub and turned around to leave but Ace was fast. He wrapped his hand around her wrist and pulled her inside the water with him while she was fully clothed.
Catherine gasped, she desperately wiped waters away from her face and glared at him. He has the tendency of pulling her inside water when he knows that she gets scared of it most of the time.
"What the hell is wrong with you!" She snapped. Her eyes widening.
"You are wrong with me." He replied and Catherine raised one eyebrow.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"I want you back, Catherine." He said he grabbed both of her hands and placed it on his chest then wrapped his hand around her waist. The man that was shaking outside from the cold was gone and Ace Hampton had finally taken over. "I regret everything that happened. Trust me, I do. I wished that most of the things that happened never did. My relationship with you has always been complicated. You deserve so much better. You deserve some flowers, date, vacation and a fucking ring on your finger."
Catherine couldn't believe her ears. She looked into his eyes and mumbled his name. "Ace."
"I have never truly shown you just how much I love you, care for you, want you." He said and pulled her closer to him. "I am ready to prove my love to you, Catherine. I will treat you right. I will show you every fucking day just how much I love you."
Catherine blinked several times. It was like a movie to her.
The old Ace Hampton would have asserted his claim on her and indulge in sex instead of professing his love for her.
She smiled and she closed her eyes to stop her tears from dropping.
"Let's start with a date. I want to take you out tomorrow. Will you do me the honor of going on a date with me? I promise to make it worth it." He told her and she nodded her head immediately.
Ace pulled her into a huge and put his face on her hair. Her beautiful natural golden hair.
"I love you, Catherine Meyers. I want you. I need you. I adore you." He confessed. Catherine wrapped her hand tightly around his waist and nodded her head.
"I love you too, so much." She said in her mind.
She couldn't say it out loud. Her voice was clucked with tears.
