Episode 55

Catherine's POV:

What the hell is going on? Why would Mrs Hampton of all people reach out to me? And for what?

I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if I should tell Ace or not.

I stared at the message and my mouth dropped open.

She wanted to meet up!

Why would she want to meet me?

I didn't have much time to stay in New York. Sooner or later I would have to inform Ace about my move.

It was only normal for me to see her and know what's going on.

I quickly type in a text message and proofread it before sending it.

"Where would you like to meet? Mrs Hampton."

After sending the message I placed my phone back on the nightstand drawer and covered myself with the duvet then closed my eyes.

Tomorrow was my last day.

I felt sad but there was nothing I could do. It was unavoidable.

I woke up the next day to a new message from Mrs Veronica Hampton. She gave me an address of where to meet her.

I had my breakfast and dressed up, without telling Talia or Ace I had my bodyguard drive me to the location where she sent me.

It was a cemetery.

I was surprised.

My bodyguard glanced at me but he didn't say a word.

Standing before a grave was Mrs Hampton wearing a long black leather jacket.

Her hands were stuffed inside the pocket.

She had guards around her.

Of course she would.

"You are here." She said and nodded her head.

She removed her eyeglass and turned to face me.

"Why did you want to meet here." I said and stared at the tombstone. "Your husband's grave."

The corner of her mouth tugged up in a sinister smile and she took a step towards me.

"Do you know what today is?" She questioned and I shook my head.

Why was she asking me such questions when she knew that I knew nothing?

"The day my husband handed me a divorce papers, he wanted to divorce me. He couldn't stand the fact that his wife was a mogul who was building empires for him and our son. What a coward. " She said and chuckled bitterly.

Oh, why is this being said to me?

I didn't know what to do or say to her, so I just kept quiet, staring at the outside , until she tried to articulate her thoughts.

"I don't care about the relationship you had with Ace when he was in London I don't care about anything you had with him and I don't care about how you feel or how he feels because I'm doing all this for his future, because of you he canceled his engagement with Kisa Queens he is going to get engaged to Chelsey Black and I want you gone.

I don't want to see you here, I don't want to see you talking to him. I want you to disappear from his life totally because if you don't then I will come after you with full Force and you will not like me Catherine Meyers.

I will forget the fact that your father caused my husband's death and give you a final chance to prove yourself, how sorry you are so go away. I don't want to see you near my son because the day you do." She said and walked closer to me, her mouth close to my ear and whispered. "Will be your end and that of whatever legacy you have left for you."

"Do you want to see him lose everything? Do you want to see him lose all his inheritance just because of an English girl? Ace would be on the street in the next 24hrs if you prove yourself stubborn. Don't test me."

I shivered.

I know that her words about Ace being on the street was just a mere word but I couldn't help but being afraid, could she do that to her own son? could she really be that cruel? I had no idea but I'd be damned if I let that happen to Ace. I love him so much that I can't let anything bad happen to him I just can't.

Goosebumps all over my body I was scared I was really really tired she stepped back and looked into my eyes then smirked.

She was serious.

That was when I realized that she was who they claimed she was, a devilish woman who would do anything to have her way.

when she noticed that she had finally succeeded in igniting fear in me, she nodded her head.

She walked past me but stopped after two steps.

"One more thing, it would be better for you if you don't tell anyone about our encounter. The end won't be funny at all, leave as if you just disappeared out of the face of the Earth, your last chance for redemption Catherine." She said and walked away.

Oh my god I was shaking, my whole body was shaking, my bodyguard tried to hold me but I slapped his hand away from your body.

I couldn't bear anyone's touch, I just couldn't.

what would I do? What should I do? I was very confused and I didn't know anything.

I couldn't call Talia neither could I call Acs and the Anitra whom I was friends with was no longer my friend I had no one to talk to I couldn't talk to my mum you know that will be too risky, what should I do I had no idea I was confused, I was in the dark and had no way out.

I turned around and stormed out of the cemetery mad at myself for honoring such a cruel invitation.

I guess this was my last chance to say goodbye to Ace.

When I got inside the car, I dialed his number.

"Hey Butterfly." He said sweetly and tears rushed into my eyes.

After today I wouldn't be able to hear that sweet nickname again.

After today he would go back to hating me without knowing what really happened.

After today I would be the girl that broke his heart twice!

Tears were rushing down my cheeks but I tried to keep my voice natural.

"Do you want to meet you? I miss you." I said.

Today is finally goodbye.
