Ace's POV:

Have you ever felt like killing someone?

Have you ever had the urge to take someone's life? I felt it right now, at this moment.

I want to kill him right now. The one I used to call my friend, the one that betrayed me and slept with my fiance behind my back, the one that is plotting to take Catherine away from me.

But I won't let him this time, Catherine belongs to me, only me and I won't allow anybody else to go near her.

I didn't want to come here tonight. Veronica Hampton forced me.

A party that I didn't want to attend but she forced me because she's the only one that knows how to do so.

I hate it here.

I can't stay here and be faking it. I can see all the fake smiles, the hatred masked behind a smile and the power struggle between everyone here.

Why smile at someone you obviously detest so much? It doesn't make sense at all, it just makes you look stupid.

I sip on my drink, my eyes glancing around the room calmly.

"Who would have thought that the great Ace Hampton will come to a place like this? it is quite a surprise." Anitra said, a smile on his lips while he looked at me mockingly.

I ignored him though.

I don't have the time to talk to him.

"Anitra you are here," Mother said with a calm but fake smile on her face.

I can count how many times she smiled genuinely.

"Yes Mrs Hampton, good evening." Anitra greeted her, I wanted to wipe that fucking smile off his face but I stopped myself.

I won't do that.

I am a Hampton after all. I am a King and Kings don't embarrass themselves in front of their subject.

"Good, Ace, come with me, I have someone I need you to meet." Mother said to me. I scoffed and dropped my glass of wine on the tray of a waiter passing by then followed her.

I wonder who she is going to introduce this time around.

Mother led the way and we made our way among the crowd until she stopped in front of a man and his daughter.

"Ace, meet Jared Black and his daughter Chelsey." Mother introduced, her face filled with a smile.

I can actually understand what is happening right now and I hope I am wrong because if I'm not then it's not going to happen.

She saw that the arranged marriage between the Queens didn't work out as planned, now she is looking for someone else.

"Nice to meet you Ace," Jared said and pushed his hand forward, the man looked like he would be in his mid forties, he looked young.

I offered him a handshake and responded. "My pleasure."

I turned to Chelsey and took her hand in mine then kissed the back of it before dropping it, her ocean blue eyes stared into mine and I smiled at her.

"Nice to meet you too, Chelsey." I whispered.

Now,I know that I'm flirting with her. It is obvious. But I must be honest, I feel sick to my stomach and just want tonight to end quickly.

I can't wait to leave here in peace.

"Nice to meet you too." She whispered.

Not too long after the introduction Chelsey and I were left alone.

I knew that something like this would happen.

"You don't like me." She said, I turned to face her and raised my eyebrows. "You looked pissed, like you would rather be somewhere else."

What the hell is wrong with this girl?

" Do I have to like you? Let me say this once and for all. I hate this type of shit, it won't work so you better run to daddy and let him know that Ace Hampton is not available." I snapped at her.

She nodded her head and mumbled. " Is it because of her?"

" Her? Who the fuck are you talking about?" I questioned irritatedly.

" Catherine Meyers. What do you see in her? Her father was the one that killed your father."

I was one second away from capturing her throat when I remembered that I'm at a party and didn't have to embarrass myself.

"How did you know about Catherine? Who the hell are you?" I asked her.

" I knew that you were hiding her from your mother, and I'm going to tell her if you don't cooperate with me." She told me and I chuckled.

The bitch was trying to blackmail me.

"I am Ace Hampton, do you think you can blackmail me?" I asked her. " Nobody ever threatens me."

I stepped closer to her and lowered my head before whispering into her ear.

"If I hear anything about this from Veronica Hampton, I'm going to hunt you down and kill you, if anything happens to Catherine you're going to wish you didn't know me." I said then straightened up and walked away from her.

Nobody threatened me. Nobody talks about Catherine.

Damn.

I feel like letting out some adrenaline.

I fished out my phone from my pants pocket and dialed Mike, my driver's number.

"Yes boss?"

"Meet me in front of the door."

Catherine's POV:

I stayed at a cafe throughout the day and when they closed I carried my bag and hit the streets again.

I didn't know where to go or whom to call.

I couldn't bear to disturb Talia and her family.

I don't know anybody else who would care to help me.

I kept on walking along the dark street until a car pulled up beside me. An SUV with tinted black windows.

Looks like those cars mafia men drive in books.

I was scared and wanted to walk away but stopped when the car door was pulled open and a huge man walked out.

He opened the passenger's side and a woman in an all black dress walked out of the car.

What's going on? Who are they?

"Who are you?" I asked her when she started walking towards me.

She walked closer to me and sighed.

"Hi Catherine, Mama missed you so much."
