I think I finally know what it feels like to be in love

As soon as I laid eyes on my car, there was no turning back. I was beyond excited and I could tell that Carter found the whole thing funny. But I don't care, my excitement is totally justified.... I mean it's a jeep for fuck sake. Anyway we went to McDonald's and then I just drove us around, I think Carter may be right about my driving though..... sometimes I overdo it.

But as of now I just parked perfectly -in his driveway- for my first try

"Oh, Carmen" Melissa says with surprise

I smile, "Hey"

"How are you honey"

I sit at the island, "Absolutely amazing, I just picked up my new car today"

She looks out the window with amusement,

"I was wondering who's jeep that was"

She then looks at her son, "Have you had a thought?"

I frown as I look back at him, "I have and like I said before, no" Carter replies

"Well I've left his number by the landline incase you change your mind" She picks up her bag

"I'll see you kids later"

"Bye" I reply as she walks out the door

Carter takes a bottle of water out of the fridge, "So...." I look at him expectantly as he sits down

"My dads been trying to get me and Grace to go over to his for dinner"

I raise my eyebrows with surprise, "For real?"

He nods, "Did you consider it?"

"No"

"Well I won't say much but, I think he's a fool for still trying" I reply, he half smiles

"Hey guys" We look back and that's when we notice Maya coming down the stairs with Grace

Carter waves, "Hi Gracie" I smile

She opens the pantry before taking a bag of chips, "Her teacher said she spoke in class today" Maya tells us

Carter lifts his sister up, "I told you you could do it" He says proudly, she smiles in return before going into the front room

Now I am definitely not one to judge anybody.... But Maya seems I don't know, off. This could just be my jealously talking though because she hasn't actually done anything wrong, however I do think she likes Carter. "So are you guys coming from school?" She asks

"No we went to get Carmens car"

"Oh really? What car?"

"Jeep" I answer shortly

"Oh, cool"

It was silent for awhile, I scrolled through my phone whilst she just stood there looking as if she had something to say.... To Carter. "Um I'm gonna go check on Grace" She finally walks away and I watch with narrowed eyes

Carter snorts, "You totally hate her"

"What?"

"You hate her" He says amused

"No I don't.... I was observing"

He gets up, "You can lie but your eyes tell the truth"

"Well maybe you should stop watching what my eyes are doing"

"I watch you all day baby, it's nothing new" My eyes follow him as he walks up the stairs, right now I feel jumpy..... he said baby.

Carter stops halfway up the stairs, "Well are you coming?"

I roll my eyes playfully before getting up

This is what you would call floating on cloud nine right?

I lift my chin up towards the mirror before scoffing, "What a dick" I mutter

The foundation rubbed away thanks to Carter, now my mosquito bites are in full view once again. I sigh as I continue driving down the street, hoping that dad isn't home. I actually would've stayed at his house for a little longer but Matty called and said he wanted to see my car

My phone rings as I sip on a straw, "Hey" I answer

"Hey, you home yet?"

"No I just left Carters-.... What's that noise?" I frown as I put my phone on speaker

"It's the tv, I'm at Enzo's dorm"

"Oh, right"

"Anyway, tomorrow there's a party and I think that you definitely have to go since you haven't been to one in a year" Sienna says

"I guess I could clear my schedule"

"Bitch you've got nothing better to do"

"I'm kidding, I'll be there" I say amused

Now my eyes love playing tricks on me but this time I know that they aren't, I narrow them as I look out of my window, "Good, tell June aswell"

I frown, "Yeah I will-.... Hey I'll call you back later ok?"

"Later" Sienna replies, I end the call as I slow my car down in the middle of the road

As I lower my window I notice a familiar brunette standing in the distance, she's with a redhead that's like an inch taller than her. It's around 7pm so I'm wondering what the hell they're doing, the redhead takes her by the hand before leading her into a store. Ok I had a few guesses before but this is interesting.

I sit back in my seat as I think to myself, this probably answers about a few of my questions.... However not all. A car horn beeps from behind me, "Shit" I mutter before continuing to drive

Matty watched me from the window as I parked my car, he opens the front door as I walk up the steps to the house, "Is that yours!" He scoffs with amazement

I grin as I show him the keys, "Indeed it is"

"Can you drop me to school tomorrow?" My brother asks excitedly

I laugh a little, "Sure" He shuts the door behind me as I walk into the kitchen

I'm a little confused at what's going on though, there's a mirror rested down on the island, then a few hair ties, a hair brush and all sorts of shit. "Umm, what are you guys doing?" I say amused

Adri winces as she puts the mirror down, "Santi's tryna braid my hair-... not so tight!" She complains

"Chillax, I'm a professional peluquero" Our brother replies

"More like an abuser to the head-.... Ow! No your done" Adriana gets up

I snort, "Adri your just tender headed"

"Well he could be a little softer" She says annoyed

Santiago pats the seat, "Carmen be my cliente"

"My hairs not long enough for French braids" I say amused

He pulls his twin back down onto the seat, "Adriana just firm it"

"One more tug and your done" She warns

"Shut up and use your phone" He replies, she rolls her eyes and I laugh

Man I love my siblings

"How was Carters house"

"Fine" I reply

She stares at me with disgust, "I noticed"

"Hi" Matty says from the living room

"Hey" Our other sister replies whilst taking off her shoes

"Where've you been?" Adri asks

"I was just out" She takes a can of coke from the fridge

"Wanna be my client?" Santi asks her

"I'll see" Lola replies before going upstairs

So it seems that she's in a much better mood today, I hope our conversation goes well later on.

You know the entire time that I was away, I never really got to speak to my siblings at all. It would be regular phone calls to say happy birthday or how's life and shit like that, so now that I am back I think it's time I get closer with my little sister again.

I knock lightly on the door, "Come in" Lola calls out

I make sure to close it behind me after entering, I also take the time to take a look at a few of the pictures on her wall. Theres photos of her and a few friends, some with Sienna before she dyed her hair, ones of her and I, and then some with Adri and Enzo.

Anyway back to reality, my sisters hairs wet and she's in her pyjamas, plus a hoodie that I don't recognise. "Hey can I sit?"

She nods before lifting up the comforter and I get in beside her, "I think it's been awhile since I've spoken to just you" I say amused

She smiles a little, "Lola you know there's nothing you could do to make me stop loving you right" I suddenly say

She frowns, "Um, thanks?"

I lean back against the headboard, man it's hard to think of what to say.... I just don't wanna get this wrong. "Earlier when I was coming back from Carters house, I saw you"

"Saw me where?" My sister says amused

"Outside of a convenient store, you were with a redhead"

Her smile falters, "I was?" She's trying not to sound stressed out or panicked but it's pretty evident on her face

I nod, "She kissed you on the head and then led you into a store"

Lola looks the other way and I look at her softly, "It's ok if you like girls"

She looks back at me as tears pool her eyes, "Carmen please don't say anything, I'll stop-

I frown, "Hey I'm not gonna tell anybody" I assure her

She goes quiet, "Is this what you were upset about at school the other day?..."

Lola sniffs before nodding and I pull her into a hug, "I just felt like there was something wrong with me"

My heart breaks into two after hearing her say that.

"There is absolutely nothing wrong with you Lola, don't let anybody tell you differently"

She doesn't reply

"I don't want you to think that you can't tell me anything ok? I won't judge you" I murmur against her head

She nods against my chest, "For how long?" I then ask

"I don't think I ever really liked guys, they'd always hit on me but I wouldn't do anything with them..... and then sophomore year started, that's when Stacey joined the school" My sister murmurs

Now I know not to ever undermine intelligence. I may not know all my sisters friends, but when I first heard the name Stacey I knew something was up. "Is that the redhead that you were with?" I ask softly

"Yeah..."

-(two months into sophomore year)

"Dads working tonight so Enzo will pick you up" Santi says

I frown, "Isn't Carmen supposed to be coming back?"

He sighs, "I don't know what's going on with her anymore"

The date that our sister is supposed to be coming back keeps on changing, it's annoying really. Then again I doubt she'd wanna return to this awful place, I hear she doesn't even go to school.

The bell rings, signalling that it's time for first period. I say goodbye to my brother before walking into English and taking a seat in the middle row, "Hey you got a pen?" I ask Fiona, she hands me one and I smile a thanks before opening my notebook

"Alright before we start, I wanna introduce you all to our new class member" Mr Charles announces

"Damn, she's pretty" Fiona whispers, I frown at her before looking up and raising my eyebrows a little... Ok never mind she wasn't wrong

There stands a redhead with the prettiest jade green eyes I've ever seen, she's got blonde highlights and a few bangs too. In terms of her outfit, she's in a pair of blue jeans, a white cropped tank top and a zipper hoodie along with some rings. it's pretty basic but she manages to make it look hot.... I mean pretty.

Then there's her belly button piercing which I'm not surprised about, it fits her vibe. I always wanted one but my moms forcing me to wait till sixteen.

"Why don't you introduce yourself" Mr Charles says

She tucks a hair behind her ear, "Um.... Hi I'm Stacey Williams" She says awkwardly

Her eyes meet mine but I look away first, I tend to do that a lot.... It's hard to hold eye contact. "Why don't you take a seat Stacey"

I keep my eyes on the page as she walks down the aisle, I don't miss her lavender scent as she passes by though.

My god Lola you sound like a fucking creep

"Ok everyone, let's open page six on the textbooks please"

I'm so tempted to look back but I've trained my eyes to stay looking at the whiteboard or looking at my notebook. "You ok?" Fiona says amused

I didn't even realise I was just sitting there thinking, I pick up my pen. "Mhm"

"I don't think we would be dating if she didn't speak to me first"

"I knew Stacey wasn't just a friend" I say amused

My sister lies back on her pillow, "How long have you guys been together?" I ask softly

"Five months" She says quietly

I raise my eyebrows with surprise, "Wait for real? Does mom know?-

"No and I don't plan on telling her, ever"

I mean it's kind of hard considering the type of parents that we have, they both grew up in a Christian environment when they were younger and although they don't really follow it now, they still kept a few beliefs. "Have you met Stacey's parents?" I then ask

My sister nods, "Yeah I met her mom and her stepdad, they don't really care that she's gay"

So that's where Lola is half of the time, makes sense I guess

"Has she got any siblings?"

"Mhm, a little sister"

I lean on my hand, "Well I'd like to meet the girl who's making my sister happy"

"She knows about you"

"Well I'd expect nothing less" I snort

She smiles a little, "You gonna tell the others?"

Lola shrugs, "I don't want to" She says quietly

I half smile, "And that's ok, it'll be our little secret" I say softly

We link pinkies before kissing our thumbs and I turn off the light before pulling the comforter over us. "Night"
