《Fairy Tail One-Shots》GaLe ~ Connected Worlds

Blood splattered everywhere on the ground, covering the grassy hill with it's crimson colour. All that could be heard were the cries uttered by a certain man being stabbed at, over and over again. He kept getting pushed back, closer and closer to the edge of the cliff. The black haired man was now covered in red himself, only his face was left untouched, simple droplets of the liquid managed to paint his hard visage.

His long black hair was cut, and spread over the ground. The man could hardly stand, let alone breathe. He kept getting pushed back by an unknown black figure, only a silhouette.

He kept pivoting closer to the cliff as the silhouette with the knife kept slashing, slowly pushing forward. The man couldn't hold call upon his magic, and he didn't understand why. But this brought him to a great disadvantage. His face was sneered with a scowl, obviously he tried to figure a way out of this mess.

Sweat dropped from his forehead when he felt the heel of his foot reach the edge of the cliff. The man was coming toward him, knife lifted over his head. There was no way out. As the silhouette brought the sword down, he tilted back to dodge it, and kept falling back, down, down, down... He fell into the abyss of the black water...

My eyes suddenly shot open, but I had to cover them, seeing too much bright light coming into view. I used my arm to cover it, waiting until the blinding light dimmed. When I was finally ready, I sat up, holding my head in my hands. What the hell was that? A dream? I looked up and out the window, seeing the dark sky and pitter patter of the rain. No. More like a nightmare...

When I made it to the guild, not many people were there. I was completely soaked, but I didn't really care, I'd dry off soon enough. Salamander was there though, already picking a fight with that ice princess. "Tch. Typical."

I went over to the bar and ordered my usual; "Really? So early in the morning?"

"Just give it to me, She-Devil."

God-damnit, My head was still heavy from that weird dream. And that weird silhouette of a guy was awfully short too, what's up with that? How was I gettin' beaten up by a pipsqueak like that? I drank the beverage Mirajane finally got me, it helped clear my head a bit.

I looked around the guild. Half of it was already destroyed due to the trio of destruction. I would've joined the brawl, but I still couldn't make sense of the dream. It was bothering me. Pissed me off, actually.

"Gajeel, is something wrong?" I didn't even look back, I simply smirked and answered loud enough so she could hear me.

"Nothin' you need to be concerned about." I took another whiff of my drink.

"But, you looked awfully tired when you walked in, your eyes even had small bags under them," The bluenette sat next to me with a concerned look in her eyes, "You know, you can tell me what's wrong."

I shifted in my seat and looked down at the woman, "I'm not some sissy who needs counselling, Juvia."

"But Gajee, you don't look well, mood or otherwise. You've even gone a bit pale."

"It's none of your business, now leave me alone."

"But Gaje-"

"Listen! I-"

Everything suddenly got dark when my face was covered with some kinda material. What the hell? I ripped it off and examined it. How the-?

"Gray-sama~, you look so dashing with your shirt off my love!" I looked at the seat in front of me, but she wasn't there anymore. I looked around, and there she was, cuddlin' up the streaker's arm. Geez.

For a little while longer, I sat there, watching Gray and Natsu fight (And Juvia cheering him on). But Juvia was right. By now, I should have been pounding the pyro to a pulp, now I won't even bother getting up. I took one more drink out of my glass, Empty. I sighed and put it down.

I waited. Where the hell is she? Normally, she'd know to refill it without a cue. I looked up and there she was, all the way at the other side of the bar, washing a glass and chatting with someone else. "Tch." I grabbed my own glass and stomped over there. And here, I thought, this day couldn't possibly get any worse.

I slammed the glass on the bar and sat next to whoever she was talkin' to. I didn't have a good look, nor did I care to. But the white-haired woman simply smiled and left to refill my glass.

"Gajeel?" I looked down, way down, to see another quite familiar bluenette. Well, she didn't seem so familiar at this point, only her hair was really the same, and even that was messed up. Her skin was pale as a ghost, her eyes had bags under them, and she barely seemed to be able to lift her head enough to look up at me.

I raised an eyebrow, examining the rest of her too, she was careless getting dressed this morning, "'The hell happened to you?" She flinched and looked down, her face suddenly went red.

"I slept horribly last night. I had this really bad nightmare, and I woke up like this." She planted her face in her hands, holding her head up on the counter. She started groaning in exhaustion. Somehow, I don't blame her.

"Yeah, I had a really bad dream too. Some girl kept slashin' at me with this knife, but I didn't fight back. 'Got no idea why?" When Mira finally brought me my drink, I started to chug that down. But once I set it back on the table, I realized Levy had been staring up at me the whole time. "What is it?"

She let out a little shriek, and sank back into her seat, whispering a small "it's nothing." We sat there a little while longer, a really annoying awkward silence. "That person with the knife, they didn't happen to be relatively... small, did they?"

"Yeah? What of it?" I asked.

She shook her head, but she tightened her lips and squinted at the bar's top, "It's nothing."

More blood dripped from the small knife, each drop staining the ground he passed. They were in a grassy area, and she was walking back towards a cliff. Her heart pumped rapidly, taking terrified and shaky steps back. Crimson flowed down her arm like small waterfalls, dripping off the tips of her delicate fingers.

She whimpered every time the tall silhouette brought the dagger down. She couldn't defend herself, she could only step back. Why can't I run? She thought to herself. Where am I? She wanted to look around, but she couldn't take her eyes off the dark menace slashing at her. She couldn't run. She couldn't even move when he wasn't slashing at her.

Even though the silhouette obviously had long hair, it was also broad shouldered, too much so for a woman. So she had ready established that the blackened figure was one of a man. Haven't I been here before? She tried to look around, but her head wouldn't let her. She couldn't take her eyes off the reddened blade.

She kept getting pushed back, closer and closer to the edge. The more he slashed, the closer she got. His swipes were slow and heavy, but enough to cut her deep enough to make the blood douse her clothes a dark red. A tear fell from her eye when she felt her heel tilt over the end of the edge. Wait, I have been here before, She looked up at the silhouette, tears still falling from her eyes. NO! With one last swipe, she was sent flying off the edge. She reached her hand out, bruised and bloodied.

"GAJEEL!" As her world turned up side down, the black covering the man's body slowly disappeared, fading out to reveal the man she loved, scowling, but-- crying...

Levy fell down, fast. She could feel the air blowing her hair to whip her face. I did this last time too, She thought to herself. She closed her eyes, and waited to hit the water. When she did, she knew she'd wake up, and the nightmare would be over.

She kept falling, down, down, down. Had she been falling this long last time? She looked down, or up (She was upside-down, so her up was actually down). There was clearly water underneath her. But it was brighter than last time, a clear and gentle water. She could vaguely see something through it. No, it must've just been a reflection. After all, she could see the same cliff she just fell off of. The strange thing was that she couldn't see herself in the water. She could feel herself falling, but she couldn't see herself in the water. She brought her hand up (down) to her face. She could clearly see it, so why-?

She finally hit the water. It was cold, rather than warm like the last time. But it didn't last long. She fell out of the water, right through and kept falling down. What the-? No, that wasn't accurate. She looked up at the cliff she had supposedly fallen off, she was falling up? She looked down, and she saw the same reflection. The only difference was that she could see Gajeel holding the dagger in his hand.

She heard cries from above and she immediately looked up. There he was again, but his back was turned, and his skin seemed... darker... somehow. Red? He kept walking closer to the edge the closer she got to him. And then she saw the silhouette, petite and slender. Is that-?

Suddenly, Gajeel reached the edge of the cliff, and he tilted backwards, losing his balance completely. But just as he was about to fall, Levy flew past him, still falling towards the sky. She cried his name, reaching out a hand towards him.

His eyes widened as he saw her passing by. She saw him look at the silhouette. Just like the Gajeel silhouette Levy saw, the darkness disappeared from the maidens body, revealing the small bluenette that she was, scowling and crying.

He reached his hand out towards her, and she stretched even further to his. But it was too late, and they both fell opposite directions. Fast. They kept falling faster and faster. The moment he hit the water, she did too. Water in the sky? She sank further into the water. This one was warm, and darker. It got darker and darker until everything went pitch black.

I shot out of my bed, panting painfully, and my cheeks getting wet from the waterfall of tears. I grabbed handfuls of my blanket, gripping them tightly until my knuckles went white. What was that dream? I breathed heavily, feeling my heart pound out of control in my chest. Calm down, Levy.

Once I did, I got up out of bed and quickly got ready. I got dressed in an orange summer dress with light blue jeans, and I quickly put up my hair so it would look presentable for the public. I slipped on my sandals and then ran out the door. I sprinted through the streets of Magnolia, passing through every crowd, apologizing to anyone I bumped into.

After a long run, I finally made it to Gajeel's home. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes as I saw him, sitting on the front stairs, his head in his hands.

"Gajeel!" He looked up when I called his name. His eyes widened and he stood up abruptly.

I ran up to him. And then I crashed into him, wrapping my arms around his waist, tightly, and rubbing my face in his chest. He held me too, his strong arms around my back and pulling me closer. He didn't say anything when he held me, he must've seen the same thing.

We held each other a little while longer, before he invited me inside. We talked about it a little while, apparently he had seen the same thing. Why we saw the same thing, I don't know. But it's strange, and I know it means something, something more than just coincidence. I guess the mystery will stand, after all, some enigmas have no answer.
