The End of Disappointment

What happens when the hero's journey ends with disappointment instead of happily ever after? Ghost. Butcher. Murderer. Four hundred years after a portion of humanity was ripped from Earth and thrust into a world of magic, monsters, and swords, whatever cruel gods rule the Rings are stirring once more, and with them comes the chaos of progress. Monsters roam the land. Corruption breeds unchecked. Murderers slay their way to the heights of power. Ryu’s life could only be described as disappointing. Divine Progress

Progress is a dubious god. After failing him, three people are banished from modern times and sent to another world. Seemingly out of place, Christoph is snatched from his own time and plunged into a world of violence and magic with no deity to lend him support. Instead, Progress has seen fit to curse him with an eternal hunger for magical energy. Branded as a demon, he must fight for survival while battling the servants of the god who sent him there, struggling against the 'gift' that Progress bestowed upon him and the past he sought to abandon. Can he make his way across the lands and gather enough strength to survive without the blessings of the Divine? Or will the gods bend him to their will, breaking him if he seeks to resist? This is not a short story, and the plot will take many twists and turns before Christoph's journey comes to a close. After all, it is not the destination, but the Progress that matters in the end. Hoodwinker Detective

Jasper Debolt Reardon is the main character's name. He works as a personal investigator. He doesn't look into mundane crimes, however. He's a night owl who looks into strange phenomena that happen at night. It's not easy being a paranormal investigator. When anything out of the ordinary occurs, few individuals are willing to admit it. Even fewer are willing to engage a private investigator. Usually, by the time people get to Jasper's doorstep, things are out of control; like last month, when he had to banish a poltergeist from the new home of a very rich business tycoon. After he sent the haunt on its way, Mr. Money-bags changed his mind about the possibility of ghosts and refused to pay, claiming Jasper was a charlatan who conned his gullible, young wife. The wife was not only young and gullible-she was also bored and dissatisfied in her marriage. So, in a way, Jasper got him back. Anyway, Jasper isn't here because he wants to be. He's here because something is always pulling him back to these stories. Something like a phenomenon called "system". Psycho killers, the mob, and even black magic. Can he solve all these mysteries and live to collect his payments? It's a litRPG story with Occult Detective genre packed with action and supernatural mysteries.
