《Room Mates (NaLu)》Chapter 33 ~ something tragic in the fallout

Natsu's gaze tore from mine as he spun around on the spot. His face distorting into a frown at the call of his name.
I turned too, balancing on one foot in attempts of looking around Natsu's tall body that stood right in the way of the sound's direction.
Who is she? She's so... pretty.
I suddenly felt self conscious as a girl ran toward Natsu. It was as if the world had gone slow motion just for her, like in those movies where two lovers finally find eachother and run toward eachother in the slowest way possible, dragging out the suspense.
Her hair cascaded through the air so gracefully as she approached, eyes twinkling and teeth shining. My jaw dropped as the girl leapt up and wrapped her arms around Natsu's neck, but it made me feel just an inch better when I noticed his expression was just as shocked.
'I can't believe it's you!" She hushed, her voice smooth like silk, leaving Natsu to quiver under her breath.
I shrunk. Suddenly feeling ten times smaller and less important. How could just seeing this girl cause me to feel like this? I shook my head, telling myself to snap out of it.
"It's been so long, hasn't it?" She said as she stepped down from her tiptoes and unhooked her self from Natsu's neck. She took a step back before she reached her hand out and walked her two fingers up his arm to his shoulder. "Did you... miss me?"
Her eyes twinkled as she blinked them at him innocently, causing me to scowl. Had she not even noticed my presence?
Natsu had flinched, unmoving. He laughed nervously before eventually plucking her hand off his shoulder with his, and taking a step back.
"Uh, h-hey, It's been a while..." He stuttered, awkwardly. I wanted to know why was he so nervous.
"So you didn't miss me?" She asked, folding her arms below her cleavage in attempts of maximising it's size, and batting her eyes again. What exactly was she trying to do here...?
"You, uh, you went away didn't you...? Out of Fiore?" Natsu asked, trying his best to ignore the persisted question.
"Yes, but I'm back now!" She said, smiling widely at him.
My last piece of self confidence shattered at that exact moment. She was so unbelievably pretty. Why hadn't Natsu just gone and ditched me? She was obviously flirting with him.
Snap out of it!
I mentally shook the thoughts from my head and stepped forward making myself known. Natsu quickly noticed and stood beside me.

"Hey Luce, this is Sherry. I knew her a few years ago." Natsu said, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me close. Sherry's eyes shot towards Natsu's arms and then to my face. "Sherry, this is Lucy." He continued.
Her pretty eyes connected with mine and she threw a fake smile to her face.
"Hi, nice to meet you!" She said, her voice sarcastic.
"Yeah... you too." I replied, leaving her to drop her smile fake smile and turn back toward Natsu.
"So, how's school? Do you have a girlfriend? I bet all the girls swoon over you." Sherry blabbed, once again completely ignoring my presence. "I mean, after I left, I bet you had to date many girls to get over it." She reached an arm again, wrapping her fingers around his arm muscles, flirtatiously.
"Lucy is my girlfriend actually." Natsu said stifly, pulling his arm from Sherry's grasp. Her eyes widened before a digusted look fell upon her features.
"You mean that is your girlfriend?" She laughed, glancing back toward me and flicking a finger in my direction.
"I'm literally right here you know." I stated, my face straight and unamused. Natsu fidgeted in his stance, not knowing how to react in the current situation.
"You can do better than that Natsu... Seriously, I told you, I'm back now." She continued, ignoring my comment and turning back toward Natsu. "I'm sure I can be a much better girlfriend than anyone like her." She batted her eyes again.
"Lucy, we were leaving." Natsu's teeth were gritted as he spoke, trying to hold back the angery tone that was on the tip of his tongue. He moved his arm from my waist, grasping my hand tightly and pulling me away.
I felt comepletley confused. Who was that girl?
"Bye Natsu!" Sherry called behind us, waving us off like nothing had happened but a normal friendly greeting.
Natsu's hand never loosened around mine as we turned a corner, delving deeper into the entanglement of vines and pillars. Benches dotted the different routes, suggesting a spot to sit and relax for passer-by's, along with the odd crumbly bird bath and picnic tables.
"Natsu..." I trailed, wanting to know who the girl was and why she made him so nervous. "What was all that about...?"
Natsu sighed, running his free hand through his hair and closing his eyes shortly.
"It's a long story." He said, as if recallling the memories then and there, face pained. "But long story short... Sherry was a girl in my highschool."

I nodded, staying silent and listening intently. We continued to walk in no paticular direction, still taking in all the sights of the beautiful scene around us.
"Basically she was obsessed with me." He stated nonchalantly, causing me to snort out a short laugh. He lifted his arms waving them infront of him urgently. "Not to sound big headed or anything! She just would never leave me alone!"
"Who wouldn't when they see a guy like you walk past." I joked, bumping his hip with mine. "I mean, just look at you." I grinned.
Natsu smirked as his ego rose from the compliment. "Oh I do, everyday." He joked. The two of us laughed a little more, and he continued to tell me about the girl.
"She used to tell everyone we were dating... and come up to me during the day to try to hold my hand." He continued, as remembering the moments himself and projecting them aloud.
"Thats really creepy." I laughed, pulling on his hand to turn a corner down a different route. "This place is amazing..." I gasped, looking out around as another beautiful scene unfolded.
This route held a field, a large field filled with flowers, flowers and more flowers. I turned my head to Natsu, smiling like a child.
"I've always wanted to run through a field of flowers!" I squealed, grabbing his wrist and tugging him into a jog. To two of us stumbled forward, as I dragged Natsu behind me by the arm.
"Woah Luce," Natsu laughed, his grasp was tight around my hand as he tried to keep up. "Slow down!"
I felt a pang of excitment as Natsu and I burst into the flower field, completley surrounded by the sweet aroma and bright colours. I smiled as I took in a deep breath, continuing to pull Natsu further in.
But then we were falling.
I tripped, suddenly sending the two of us plummeting to the ground. The pair of us laughed as we hit the ground - somehow, when you're in a field full of flowers... everything is funny.
"You're a good cushion Luce." Natsu teased as he lay ontop of me; 'Me' who had shielded him from the fall. I was lay on my stomach, gasping in air as I half laughed depsite the air being crushed from my lungs. I managed to turn around below Natsu, now lay on my back.
Natsu looked down with a grin as he positioned himself better - one leg either side of me, the same with his hands. His cheeky face drew closer to mine as he started to lean down, balancing himself on his elbows. A hand reached out to touch my cheek, lightly stroking it with a thumb so soft and warm. Natsu's face was centimetres from mine, yet still we managed to make eye contact without going cross eyed.
Natsu dipped down, planting a curt peck of his lips against my nose. He rested his chin on his free hand as the other now moved on to play with a stand of hair to the side.
"I love you so much Lucy." He whispered, dropping down to place another kiss aganist my cheek. I felt my face beginning to burn up at the attention, it was completley out of the blue.
Natsu eyes glistened green as he stared down at me more, eyes dotting around to absorb every posible detail. His lips held a smile, a sincere smile.
"You're really beautiful, you know." He dropped another kiss against my jaw, travelling downwards in a soft track of kisses. "Don't listen to anything Sherry said. You're my princess and you're perfect." He continued, as he peppered kisses below my jawline. "So perfect..." he trailed in between.
He seperate his lips from my skin, lifting his head up to gaze at me again, a sweet smile permanently moulded on his face.
"I love you." Was the only sentence I could choke out. My face was burning, my neck was scorching, my whole body was on fire - mosty from embarrassment... I don't know why, but this attention was really making me shy.
"I love you more Luce." He whispered, placing one last kiss against my lips, it was soft and meaningful. "I seriously don't know where I would be without you."
"Not with that Sherry girl right?" I joked.
He laughed.
"Heck no."
He rolled off me, laying to the side, staring up at the darkening sky. The moment was perfect.
His hand slipped into mine, fingers wrapping softly around fingers, shoulders pressed together, the starts beginning to pepper the sky for nighttime.
I let out a content sigh.
I guess, love finds you when you least expect it.

Ira’s Faithful
[On Hiatus due to health reasons] Synopsis: Fate has plans for everyone. There are many paths one can walk and many nodes one can unlock. Yet all mortal souls only start with one node. This has been the case for many years and while there are some records of people with more than one first node, these are as rare as wings on snails, roses made of air, or ropes made of dragon-hair. Elise Anker has two first nodes. She doesn't know why and the only one that could answer is an angry voice in her head. She hears it rarely and the voice is as helpful as a sword is effective against a Leviathan. She strives to become a mage, a knight or maybe something else entirely. The future is uncertain and unless she finds out what her nodes mean, she will never know what she wants to become. But her nodes won't unlock and the angry voice tells her that she needs to find a worthy foe to kill. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events, and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. I am also not a professional author. This is simply a rough draft and therefore subject to change. Furthermore, this fiction is rather slow-paced for a rather long time. But compare it to a bundle of dynamite, you wouldn't want that to explode right in someone's face, would you?
