《Room Mates (NaLu)》Chapter 28 ~ Can't help falling in love

It had been a long week of hard, strenuous university. I had transfered in multiple classes due to new students enrolling and leaving, messing up a lot of timetables.
Right now, I was sat in biology -- slouched in my seat near the back of the classroom, praying for it to soon be over. I let my attention escape from me as I doodled little stars in the margin of my note book, not paying much attention toward the lesson.
"Hey Luce?" Whispered Natsu who was sat behind me, poking my back with the blunt end of his pencil. Biology was one of my new lessons; I was now in Natsu and Wendy's, and happened to be sat on the row infront of them with an empty seat beside me.
I craned myself in my seat, angling my head toward the pair who were sat giggling about who knows what.
"What?" I asked quietley, every now and then looking behind me to see if Mr. Happy had seen me -- He definitley wouldn't be happy if that was the case.
"We were thinking--" Wendy stopped halfway through her sentence, her eyes targeted on something at the other end of the room. I turned back around in my chair slowly only to see Happy stood in the centre of the room with his arms folded and his foot tapping angrily on a spot on the floor. He stared at us for a few seconds before walking back towards his desk and standing at the large blackboard behind it.
"Class. Listen up!" He boomed, grasping the whole classes attention. "Today we are going to be recapping animal cells. To start off, who can label this part of the cell..."
Mr. Happy continued to talk to the class about things we really already knew. I was once again pulled from scribbling doodles in my notebook as Natsu whispered my name.
"Pssst, Luce." He hushed, keeping a lower voice this time. Once again, I ever so slightly turned around in my seat, making eye contact with Natsu and Wendy as I did.
"We wanna tell you something!" Natsu said. I could see him and Wendy looking a little excited over their 'news', causing me to spike up curiosity.
"What? What is it?" I asked, quickly looking behind me to see the professor continuing to yap away about how fish have animal cells too - who would have guessed.
"We think we may know why Mr. Happy is always so grumpy." Wendy said, her face holding a giddy smile.
"What? That he doesn't take his happy pills every morning or something?" I rolled my eyes, spurting out a little laugh at my joke.
'Nooo, we think he likes Miss. Charle." Natsu stated as if obvious, looking at me like I was stupid.
"Well yeh, you said months ago that you thought they were already together." I replied, a little confused at the theory.

"I was wrong." He shrugged.
"Anyway," Wendy butted, propping her head in her hands and leaning forward. "Our plan is to try and get him and her together. Maybe that way Mr. Happy will actually live up to his name." She finished.
"Yeh, it's pretty ironic isn't it. I laughed. "But still, how are we possibly going to get them together?"
Natsu slouched in his seat, placing his hand on his chin and using his other to rub his temples.
"We didn't get that far..." He puffed, as if thinking to hard was tiring him out.
Just as we were about to figure out an idea to get the two together, it happened to all fall into our laps as there was a small knock at the classroom door.
"Come in." Called out Mr. Happy, not takings his eyes of the board, probably assuming the knocker to be a student.
"Hi Happy, I was just wondering if you had any abc textbooks? I'm down a few in my room." Said a articulate voice at the doorway.
Mine, Natsu's, Wendy's and even Happy's head, all shot toward the doorway. Of course, there stood Miss. Charle, leaving a wide smirk on my face.
Happy flustered up.
"Uh, yep, sure I think I have o-one of t-those." He jibbered, placing his pen on his desk and walking toward a cupboard nearby. Miss. Charle stood silently at the door, waiting.
"Here ya go." Happy said, handing her a pile of around 5 textbooks. Just as she was about to grasp it, Happy and his nervous self, buttered up and dropped the textbooks right toward the floor with a smack.
Sniggers chorused throughout the room as students watched knowingly.
"Sorry about that!" Said Happy, laughing nervously.
He bent down, picked up the textbooks and then handed them to Miss. Charle.
"Thanks Happy." She smiled, before exiting the room.
Happy awkwardly looked around the classroom before continuing with the class.
I immediately turned in my seat to face Natsu and Wendy with a smirk across my face.
"I have the plan."
-
"Quick quick quick, come here!" I whisper shouted as I led Natsu toward the staff room door and pushed him toward him lightly. "Go, it's right in there."
Natsu nervously edged toward the door handle, looking back toward Wendy and I with a worried face.
"Seriously guys, he already hates me enough." Natsu frowned, not willing to do that task at hand.
"You're not gonna chicken out are you?" Wendy teased, making Natsu's face contort into a spiteful expression.
"Yada!"
Natsu fiddled with the door handle as he peered around the glass window in the centre of the door. It looked as if no one was in the room, calming Natsu's erratic heartbeat. I really have softened this guy up... I laughed.
The door clicked open quietly and Natsu took a short step forward - only to then be pushed forward by Wendy mischievously for him then to fall forward and tumble against the door.

Natsu snapped his neck around to shoot Wendy a scowl before turning back around. Natsu took another step forward but suddenly stopped in his tracks and gulped.
"What?" I whispered to Natsu. "What is it?"
"Maitta na!" He jumped, scurrying out of the room quickly and bumping against Wendy and I.
Wendy opened her mouth to speak, but was immediately silenced when a pair of hands grabbed Natsu's ear and pulled him back into the room.
I peeped my head around the doorway to see Miss. Charle stood with a very unhappy face. Natsu pried her fingers off his ear as she continued to glare down at him.
"Natsu. This is not the first time we've caught you sneaking into the staff room. Are you simply asking for punishment?" She bellowed as Natsu looked down at the floor with no reply. Miss. Charle looked up toward the doorway where we stood.
"And you two. Don't think I didn't see you, come over here."
Wendy and I scurried toward her helplessly, joining Natsu's side and looked everywhere but at her face.
"Why were you trying to come in here? You know it's teachers only." She asked.
"Uh... well, Mr. Happy gave me this letter for you..." Natsu started as he fished a folded letter from his pocket and looked up to face the teacher. "That's why. I was trying to find you."
Wendy and I nodded by his side as Miss. Charle stepped forward and took the piece of paper in her grasp. Her expression softened a little at the mention of Mr. Happy's name, causing a small smirk to creep on my face - but I quickly wiped it off.
"Happy told you to give me this you say?" She asked, wanting to confirm.
Natsu looked up at her nodding.
"Yep." He answered shortly. The quicker we could get out of here the better.
"Okay then, you're excused... But no coming in the staffroom again!" Miss. Charle reiterated, pointing her finger towards us as we backed towards the door.
"Bye Miss!" Called Wendy as we piled out of the room to then close the door behind us.
Natsu let out a long sigh and looked toward me with wide eyes.
"Geez..." He gasped, swiping a hand through his messy hair. "I thought we were gonna get caught for a second there!"
"Me too, but she seemed to believe it." I replied, brushing down my clothes as if they has gotten messy. "Next stop, Happy."
-
"...I hope you feel the same, Love Charle." I said aloud as i wrote the same words onto a piece of paper. I finished the letter with a few kisses, before folding it into an envelope and rubbing my hands together; proud of my work.
Natsu and Wendy were stood beside me as I sat at a desk in an empty classroom - the perfect place to write our fake letters. The two stared down at my letter as I finished it off with the name 'HAPPY' written across the envelope in big bold letters.
"Done?" Asked Wendy as i placed the lid on my pen and put it in my pencil case that was slumped on the desk.
"Done." I replied, pushing my chair out from under my desk and picking up the letter.
"So all we need to do now it put this on Happy's desk and wait for action." Chimed Natsu mischievously as he smirked. "Then Mr.Happy will like us and make us do less work in class, hehe!"
"Let's just hope this works out." Wendy sighed, as the three of us headed for the door. "...And now we wait."
Once the letter was placed at the centre of Happy's desk - him, luckily not in the room - Natsu, Wendy and I all headed to the cafeteria for lunch. We invited Wendy to sit with us along with her friend Romeo. As usual we were meeting the group there and were going to inform then of our plan. We piled into the canteen, squeezing past students as they tumbled around in large groups and eventually made it to our table where everyone was already sat.
"Ohayo mina!" Greeted Wendy as she and Romeo sat down between Gajeel and Jellal.
"Hey, what are you doing here? Don't know two usually sit with Sherria and co?" Asked Gray as he slid into a seat beside Juvia and placed his tray of heavily stacked food on the table.
"Natsu, Lucy and I have been planning to get Miss. Charle and Mr. Happy together all day and they invited me and Romeo to sit with you guys!" Chirped Wendy with a bright smile. "I hope that's okay."
"Juvia feels delighted to have new people sit with us!" Smiled Juvia as Gray nodded by her side.
The lunchbreak went by slowly with the long queues taking hours to move and the cringey scowls that still continued to shoot my way since I started dating Natsu. Girls were pathetic. Eventually, the cafeteria bell rang, and students began packing up to head back to lesson.
I slid my seat out from under me and stood up, grabbing my rubbish. Just as I turned around to head to the bin, I stopped in my tracks, noticing everyone else in the canteen was suddenly frozen and staring at the cafeteria doors in crowds.
"Luce, whats-?" Started Natsu who was quickly cut off when the sound of angry foot steps echoed around the canteen and two figures emerged from the crowd.
"NATSU DRAGNEEL AND LUCY HEARTFILIA, MY OFFICE NOW!"

"Why us?" Still staring at the unusually stationary fire of the candle he was holding, Agung voiced the questions in our mind.
