I looked over my shoulder to look at Billy who now looked absolutely terrified. But it was different than any other type of fear I've seen him express. He looked like a lost child who couldn't find his mother in the store. His mouth was turned down in a deep frown and his eyes looked glossy. As if he was going to cry.
I was startled by his reaction. Lightly tugging on his arm I tried to snap him out of the stare as his hand become increasingly tighter around mine.
"Billy?" I asked him unsurely.
Once the woman heard his name everything she had in her hands fell to the ground. Even the small child had stopped running towards us. The tension in the air was unbearable.
I slipped my hand out of Billy's before stepping back and away from him, still trying to piece together what was going on.
I looked over at the woman and tears were falling off her cheeks before she desperately wiped them away.
"M- mom?" Billy asked as his voice cracked painfully.
Finally putting the puzzle pieces together I stood there shocked. My heart broke for Billy as he sadly looked between his mother and the new curly haired child of hers that stood in-between us all.
"So what you just ran off and found a new family?" He asked harshly. His previously sad demeanor suddenly disappeared. Billy's body posture changed. He quickly straightened back up to his full height. I watched as he crossed his arms and clenched his jaw angrily.
Her mouth opened and closed as she looked for the right words to say.
"What? You don't have anything to say to your first born son?"

She nervously wrung her hands together as she looked up at him. She opened her mouth to talk before Billy cut her off.
"Huh? Something wrong? I bet it is a bit awkward to see your son after leaving him with his shitty abusive father for years."
He then pointed down towards the child. "Especially if you bring your new little happy family along to the family reunion."
"Billy.." I mumbled unsurely as I made my way back to him.
"No!" He loudly yelled causing all of us to freeze again. Billy looked his mother dead in the eyes before sadly saying "So what? You just didn't want me anymore?"
"No!" His mother quickly said as she took a step forward with her arms out.
"You just forgot about me. You feel the need to replace me?" He said taking a step back for every step she took forward.
"Of course not!" She said before she began to full on cry.
"You forgot about me. I called you. Every night. Why did you never pick up?" He said as his body posture slumped back into a sad little boy.
"I was scared.." She said sadly as she finally reached the little boy who was beginning to cry too from all the tension.
"You were scared?" Billy scoffed. "I WAS SCARED! You left me with a raging alcoholic!" He screamed at her.
"I got the worse beating of my entire life the day you left. I called you bloody and bruised and you didn't pick up. You didn't save me."
"I'm so sorry." She said through her sobs.
He just shook his head in disgust. His body posture screamed angry through his heavy breathing and crossed arms. But his eyes clearly showed his pain.

Billy roughly grabbed my hand and yanked us away. Leaving his mother behind. Both her and the kid were crying before we rounded the vendors cart and she was out of sight.
The walk back to the apartment was only five minutes at most but it felt like forever. Billy's hand clenched tightly around mine as he took long strides while my shorter legs struggled to keep up. His chest was heaving and I was too scared to ask him to slow down.
We were finally walking down the hallway to our door as I tripped and fell over my own feet trying to keep up with his pace. Before I even hit the ground his other arm reached out and caught me as if I was only as heavy as a toddler. He angrily unlocked and wrenched the door open before carrying me inside. Slamming the door behind him with all his might. Billy gently sat me down on the couch before locking both the top and bottom lock before then pulling the curtains down.
Once he was done he stood there in the middle of the room breathing heavily. I sat there wide eyed just staring at him, unsure of what to do. I wanted to comfort him but didn't want to anger him further.
Before I could decide what to do he quickly walked over to the couch. It only took him a couple of strides so I didn't have any time to prepare myself as he laid down on top of me. He gently pushed me down by the shoulders and placed himself directly on me. His head was on my stomach and his arms were caging me in, both in a hug and slightly holding himself up so he didn't squish me. I relaxed into him and ran a hand through his curls.
"You okay?" I dumbly asked him. I knew he wasn't. Through all the time I've known him it was clear that when he was upset he resorted to anger and acts of violence.
He laid there very still before finally shaking his head. My shirt had ridden up from how aggressively he laid down, leading me to feel the tears that were dropping onto my stomach.

No More Respawns
Synopsis: The first time Allen died, he was forced back into a living hell where death is temporary, and power is all that matters. With evil and depravity as the rule, tragedy becomes comedy and life becomes an act. Only a deal with a shady god can get him back to his old life, but what happens if there’s nothing left to save? Maybe hell isn’t so bad if you have infinite lives… until you don’t. Needless to say, it’s all fun and games until there’s no more respawns. Foreword: This story is meant primarily as an action adventure and secondarily as a dark and nihilistic comedy. It may not be readily apparent in the beginning, but that's what I have planned (I feel the need to emphasize the dark; don’t rage at me if it gets too ‘traumatizing’ or something). I’m going to take my time with this, so it won’t immediately inundate you with doom and gloom. This is also a comedy, remember? On that note, if for some cursed reason you just can't handle either the references or the jokes, I am willing to battle in the comments. Anyway, I still put a significant amount of effort into the system, so I hope you enjoy that part. It is a little bulky, I'll admit to that, but I wanted to try something new and its more fun when there's more depth to it. Regardless, I still have a lot of fun doing math in the middle of writing a fictional story (/s). I also want to see if I can keep from messing up the pacing. Many times, I end up going too fast because I'm afraid of the story getting boring, which tends to ironically have the opposite effect. I'm still learning I suppose; we'll see how things go. Lastly, please leave reviews and comments, they really mean a lot to me and (usually) help me improve considerably. I'll be asking for feedback in the polls and I do still check the old ones from time to time. Notes: The story takes a bit of time to develop; give it time if you're here for drama, grimdark, or antihero. The system is all blue boxes and I'm not half-assing the numbers. Chapters will be between 1k and 2k words usually. I always use the oxford coma, fight me. Might drop if rating falls below 4 stars, idk. It depends on how my life is going. Cover drawn by yours truly in MS paint. (I have skill, I know)

Have you ever read a book and thought to yourself, "Man it would be cool to go to that world..." well, take it from an expert on the subject that it is not fun or cool!... ok... maybe a little, but that's not the point! The point is that most of the time it is a huge pain in the neck. Anyways, this is my story.-Seth
