《Emerald》46

Hermione, Harry, Ron, and I went to the Weasley's on Saturday.
We celebrated Christmas with them, which was nice. It was the first Christmas that I was invited to.
At least the first one that I could recall.
Remus and Nymphadora joined the Weasley's this year, as well.
I sat on the couch, reading a paper.
I was trying to do anything, to distract my mind from Draco.
"Hey!" Fred and George, sat down on both sides of me.
"Oh boy, you've got me surrounded." I chuckled, flipping through the pages.
"Yes, we have." George pulled the paper from my hands.
"We've got something for you." Fred smile.
"Oh, boy." I smiled, "it better not be another candy that makes me scream like an elephant."
Fred pulled a small jar from his pants pocket, and handed it to me.
The small jar had a black, sparkling powder in it.
"What is it?" I asked as I examined it.
"That is Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder. Dump it in your hand, and throw it at the ground. Black clouds will fill the air, giving you a few minutes to escape... you know if you need to make a quick get away." George smiled.
"Thank you." I replied to both of them, as I stuck the jar in my pocket.
They both patted me on the shoulders.
"You're welcome." The twins said simultaneously, as they stood up and walked away.
"I heard him talking to Snape in the hallway! Snape told him he would help him! Draco insisted that he did it himself, they are up to something!" Harry yelled.
I quickly turned my head in their direction.
Harry, Remus, Nymphadora, Hermione, and Ron, sat at the table as they argued.
"Don't you think that Snape is trying to get information from Draco, to report back to Dumbledore?! If Dumbledore trusts Snape then I do!" Remus yelled back.

"I don't trust Draco or Snape!" Harry exclaimed.
I could feel my heart began to race, as rage built up inside of me.
Harry always had something to say about Draco.
I took a few deep breathes to try to calm myself.
"You're fueled by your hatred for them!" Remus yelled back at Harry.
"I can feel that they are bad!" Harry slammed his hands on the table.
I jumped up to my feet, and marched over to the table.
My blood boiled with rage.
"Listen!" I yelled at Harry.
Everyone went quiet.
"You don't know the first thing about Draco! You can't keep throwing his name out everytime something bad happens!" I could feel my face get hot with anger.
I looked at them all for a second.
They all sat there, staring at me wide eyed.
I can't believe those words just came out of my mouth.
I swallowed hard, and stepped back from the table.
Harry quickly stood up, and walked outside.
"I'm going to bed." I spoke quietly at the ground.
I turned and, began walking up the stairs.
"What was that about?" I heard Nymphadora ask.
I stopped in my tracks to listen.
"I can't really say much, but that's a touchy topic for her." Hermione quietly replied.
A small wave of relief went over me, as I continued up the stairs.
I'm glad Hermione kept her word.
I entered the room that Hermione and I were staying in.
I sat with my back against one of the beds, as I closed my eyes.
No matter what I tried, I couldn't push the thoughts of Draco out of my head.
Hermione's cat Crookshanks began pawing at the top of my head, as she stood on the bed behind me.

I heard Hermione's light footsteps coming up the stairs, before she entered the room.
"She does that when someone is upset about something. I guess it's her way of trying to calm people down." Hermione referred to Crookshank's light taps.
"Or she's doing it to annoy me." I opened my eyes, and looked at Hermione.
She walked over, and sat in front of me on the floor.
"So what's got you all upset? You ran out of that party pretty quickly yesterday. " She asked me.
I sighed before I spoke.
"I was talking to Draco outside the party, and for a moment he held my hands. I could feel, there was still a little bit of that old, sweet Draco still inside him. I just know it's there. He won't tell me why he's acting different, he won't tell me what's going on. Despite what everyone says, I know Draco has some good left in him." I spoke softly, as it took everything in me not to cry.
"I'm sorry this is making you so upset." Hermione comforted me.
"Yeah well, thanks for not telling them Hermione. They are gonna find out sooner or later. Just when I'm ready." I swallowed my cried.
A loud boom sounded outside, as it shook the windows.
"What was that?!" Hermione asked worried.
I quickly stood up, and looked out the window.
I could see Harry and Ginny in the middle of the marsh outside.
I could see their wands casting at the dark figures that surrounded them.
Remus and Nymphadora were running to them.
Another loud boom sounded, as a spell hit the house, causing flames to start at the base.
"Hermione! Grab the cat and get out of here!" I yelled.
She quickly grabbed Crookshanks, and her trunk and ran out of the room.
I ran to Fred and George's room.
"Fire! Get out now!" I told them.
They quickly got up, grabbed their mom from her room, before the four of us ran out of the house.
We turned around to see the whole Weasley house up in flames.
