《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》Nothing but the Truth

After my talk with Loki, I asked FRIDAY to set up a meeting with everyone in the tower for six PM. I ordered pizza and drinks for everyone before also making cookies. The cookies took only an hour to make, which was just about when the pizza and drinks were dropped off.

I had Loki and Steve help me carry everything to the conference room where everyone was waiting. Steve immediately asked what the meeting was about, but I brushed him off, telling him that he'll see once we get to the others. The conference room was missing a few faces when we walked in. Wanda, Vision, Nat, and Thor were already at their seats. Clint was at the farmhouse with his wife and kids, and Bruce was M.I.A., so that only left two still missing. Thor stood in greeting when we walked in, like the friendly prince he was, and moved to take the cookies and drinks from my arms.

It took all of five seconds for Pietro to run in at the mention of food, but Tony took his sweet time getting to the conference room.

"This better be important." Tony announced as he strolled into the room. "I have a date."

"Pepper finally starting to forgive you?" I asked. I meant to ask him the other day how that was going.

I knew they saw each other a few days ago, but Tony assured me that it was just a quarterly business meeting. When Tony started to get involved with all the HYDRA stuff before Ultron, Pepper almost broke up with him. After Ultron, she couldn't do it anymore. The constant worry over him was killing her. I think Pepper was finally starting to realize that, whether she was with him or not, she would always worry.

"Yep, so lets move this along." Tony said as he grabbed a soda from off the table.

"Where do you want to start?" I asked. "Should I talk while you guys eat, should we eat first, or should we talk first?" My question was already answered when I turned away from Tony to see Pietro and Thor already stuffing pizza into their mouths. "Right." I sighed. "So that still leaves two options."

"Talk while they eat, like I said, I don't have time to wait for them to inhale the food." Tony told me. I nodded and moved to stand at the head of the table. I tapped my fingers on the wooden desk nervously as I waited for everyone to take a seat. Loki noticed my jitters and placed a hand over mine. He was sitting in a chair to my left with Nat to my right.

"Alright, what's going on, Sammee?" Steve asked to help me get started. I smiled gratefully at him before beginning.

"I-uhm- well-"

"Spit it out, Skydive." Tony cut off my nervous stuttering. He wasn't actually annoyed with me. He was just being Tony, giving me a hard time, but I still froze up for a second.

I didn't get a chance to say anything before Loki materialized a dagger and threw it at Tony in warning. It stuck into the table directly in front of him and everyone stopped whatever they were doing for a second. After the moment of slight surprise past, they all went back to eating their pizza like nothing had happened. To be fair, Loki threatening Tony was a normal occurrence. They both knew how to get on each other's nerves.

Tony was about to respond with some smartass comment, but he stopped himself once he glanced at me. I knew I looked nervous, but I was more nervous of what Steve and Thor would think. I wasn't sure why exactly. Maybe it was because Steve was from a different time and Thor talked to me like I was family. I didn't want that to change. Tony sat up straighter in his seat and looked a lot more serious.

"What do you got, Skydive. Do we need to be preparing for another fight?" Tony asked, all hints of teasing gone from his voice.

"No, its has nothing to do with you guys." I shook my head. "It has to do with me."

Now that they knew it wasn't typical Avengers stuff, they relaxed. Nat, strangely, looked more intrigued than if I had told her there was another battle.

"Uhm, I'm not sure if Tony told you guys or not, but there are versions of people I knew back in my reality here. My parents and best friend, to be specific. I'm sure there are others, though." I did my best to explain.

"Wait," Nat started, "Does that mean theres another you?"

"No, actually. It looks like my parents never had children in this reality." I said and looked down at where Loki was still holding my hand. "Which is a good thing." I told her, trying not to show how much it actually affected me. "But, it made me realize just how much I don't belong in my reality anymore. I think I finally stopped seeing myself as just tagging along." I said and finally looked up at them. "It was easy to separate myself from my past here. I could just be the me I always wanted to be. But, after seeing Layla, it all kind of came crashing down. I'm-uh- probably going to be going back on antidepressants as soon as I can talk to Dr. Raynor and... I'm going to need you guys to watch out for me."

"Skydive, you didn't need to call a meeting to say that." Tony told me, but his tone was sincere. "We're always looking out for you. Especially since you keep throwing yourself in dangerous situations."

"Ok," I smiled slightly, "I don't exactly 'throw' myself in dangerous situations. I merely jump." I said sarcastically. "But, thats not what I need you to watch out for." I explained. "In my reality, Layla, my best friend, died of Leukemia right before we turned sixteen."

"But, you said you ran into her here." Steve mentioned and I nodded.

"We're probably a lot more advanced in cancer treatment here than in Skydive's world." Tony said.

"That's great! So, you get your best friend back." Wanda smiled to try and lighten the mood.

"No, it doesn't." Natasha quickly cut in. "She doesn't exist in this reality, so this Layla girl has no idea who she is."

"Not to mention that you came here in 2012, meaning that you not only traveled across realities, but you traveled back in time, too." Tony added. Wanda's face immediately turned sad.

"Technically, yes. It was 2020 in my reality, but the films went through 2023." I confirmed. "But-uh- when she... when she died, I got into some really bad things." I told them and dropped my head, pulling my hand away from Loki. I didn't want support at the moment.

"So, what was it?" Nat asked. "What was your poison?"

I smiled sadly, of course she would have figured it out. Natasha figured everything out.

"Poison?" Steve questioned before it dawned on him. "Oh..."

"Oxy." I said simply before looking back up at Nat. She didn't have a reaction to my admission. I wasn't sure if it was because she had her carefully calculated mask on, or if it really didn't bother her, but I was grateful. "By sixteen, I was addicted, and by seventeen I had checked myself into a rehab."

"Drugs?" Pietro asked like he didn't believe it. "You?"

"Pietro!" Wanda hissed at him and smacked his arm.

"I'm afraid you'll have to go into more detail for Thor's sake." Loki told me gently.

"Oxy, or Oxycodone, is a highly addictive drug usually used in the medical field for pain relief. It can create a sort of euphoria to whoever takes it, which is why it is one of the most abused drugs out there. It can alter the mind, create mood swings, sever withdrawal, and even cause death in high doses." Vision explained before I could.

"Yes, thank you, Vision." Loki grumbled sarcastically.

"My pleasure." Vision nodded, still not understanding sarcasm. Loki just rolled his eyes at him.

"Why are you telling us now?" Nat asked. "Did you lapse?"

"No!" I said immediately with wide eyes. "I've been sober for years. I'm just worried I will. I'm just a bit overwhelmed and want to cover all my bases."

Natasha nodded in understanding before going back to her pizza. Steve, Thor, and Tony were still watching me in silence.

"What should we look for?" Steve asked , trying to be helpful.

"Changes in mood, appetite, sleep, and speech. Impulsivity, blackouts, typical druggie symptoms." I told him with a shrug. "Problem is, I'm good at hiding it."

"So, we'll keep an eye on you." Tony said and stood from his seat. "FRIDAY, too. As long as you're in the tower, FRIDAY will watch you like a hawk."

"Thanks, Tony." I smiled at him.

"No problem, but, hey, I got to go, so..." he said and gestured over his shoulder with his thumb. When I didn't protest, he nodded once and walked out of the door.

"We will protect you, sister." Thor told me with genuine concern.

"How do you protect someone from themselves?" I asked quietly.

"Hey," Wanda interjected, "you're stronger than you're giving yourself credit for." She told me with a warm smile. I smiled back and nodded.

"We've got your back." Pietro added.

"Thank you, really."
