《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》The Bookgrove

After Loki and I spend the next hour... enjoying each other's company, we went for a walk to find something to eat, though I already knew exactly where I was taking him. It was past breakfast by the time we finally got out of the tower, so I chose a place with both breakfast and lunch. It was somewhere I knew Loki would love, and it was a family owned business.

"Where are you taking me?" Loki asked me as I lead us down another street. He had his hair in a low bun today, and wore black slacks with a dark green button up shirt, tucked in. We almost didn't leave the tower when I saw him change.

"You'll see." I laughed. "Be patient." I said and smiled up at him. I had both of my arms wrapped around one of his as I lead us to a stop in front of a coffee shop.

"Is this where you want to eat?" Loki asked. I nodded excitedly and pulled him to the door. He obviously hadn't figured out why I brought us here, yet. Loki opened the door for me and a small bell rang to alert the worker at the counter.

"Welcome to The Bookgrove Café." The young, blonde greeted. "Would you like to order now, or look around a little bit?" She asked us. We were at a bookstore café and, by the look in Loki's eyes, he loved it. I nudged Loki in the side so he'd look down at me.

"Go find a book to read." I told him before releasing his arm and walking to the counter. "Hi." I greeted the woman. "Is the owner in today?" I asked her.

"That would be me." An older woman with greying hair said as she came out of the back room. "How can I help you?"

"I was wondering if it was possible to close the bookstore for a few hours while we're here? I'd pay, of course. Would..." I stopped to take the cash I stole from Tony's wallet out of my pocket. "...$400 be enough?" I asked her. "And we'd pay for and food or books separately." I added. The older woman looked at the cash in my hand before coming out from behind the counter and going to lock the front door, answering my question without a single word. I had to bite my lip to stop from laughing as she walked back over to me.

"Pleasure doin' business with you." The woman joked and took the cash from my hand. "Stay for as long as you want." She counted the money again as she walked back behind the dark curtain separating us from the back room.

"Uhm...o-o-ok, uh, what can I get started for you?" The young blonde asked.

I ordered tea for Loki and got a latte for myself. I also got us both bagels and cream cheese before finding where Loki was. When I found him, he was sitting cross-legged in a beanbag chair reading a book with about six more books stacked next to him.

"I'm guessing you found something you liked, then." I chuckled and looked down at him. When he finished his page, which only took him about thirty seconds, he looked up at me. I gestured for him to follow me and we found a big couch to sit and eat at.

"How long have you known about this place?" Loki asked when we finished our food.

"Only a day or two." I said as I wiped some cream chesse from my hand. "But I knew about coffee shop bookstores for a while. They were starting to get popular again on my world before I shifted here." I told him. "What did you pick out to read?" I asked, gesturing to the pile of books on the coffee table.

"Just some things I thought sounded interesting." He shrugged and showed me the one he was reading. I smiled when I recognized the name, 'Anne of Green Gables'.

"That's a good one." I nodded at his choice. He smiled softly at me before reaching toward his pile and grabbing another book, passing it off to me. I stared at the cover in shock. "I can't believe they have this." I whispered and ran my hand over the hard cover of the book that read 'Beautiful Joe' on it.

"It was in the 1800's section. They have everything sorted by the time period it was written." Loki explained with a proud smile.

"I cant believe you remembered." I said, still staring down at the book. After another second, I lifted my head to look at Loki.

"Of course I remember, Kitten." He told me. "I was going to start reading it, but thought you would like to first."

I nodded and leaned forward to give him a quick kiss. When I tried to pull away, Loki grabbed my waist and pulled me into his lap, not letting me break the kiss. It lasted a while longer before he pulled away from me, so we could both catch our breaths. We then settled into a comfortable silence, reading our books. I sat sideways on the couch with my back against the arm and my legs over Loki's. His hand was massaging patterns into my thighs, which would normally have been distracting, but today it wasn't.

Loki had always given small touches, finding any excuse to be touching me, but he seemed more needy lately. I definitely wasn't complaining, but it did make me a bit worried. I hoped that whatever it was, wasn't a serious problem.

Until he was feeling more secure, though, I didn't mind the constant touches. We stayed at the bookstore for a long time. Loki was a much faster reader than I was, so he was on his second book by the time the older woman walked out to us.

"Ma'am, there is someone at the door demanding to speak to you." The woman said nervously. I immediately sat up and took my legs off of Loki's lap.

"Did they give a name?" Loki asked, on high alert as well. The woman shook her head.

"He didn't have to. It's... Ironman, sir." She responded. Loki immediately rolled his eyes and sat back against the couch, reopening his book. I sighed as I relaxed and placed my legs back onto Loki's lap.

"You can let him in." I smiled at her in thanks, but she just turned to look behind her nervously. "Is... something wrong?" I asked.

"If there is going to be trouble, I would rather you take it outside." The woman explained. I heard Loki scoff, but I understood what she was saying. She didn't know us, and now one of the well known Avengers were here looking for us. Even though I was technically an Avenger, Tony had kept my face out of the media as much as possible since I came back from HYDRA. The media mostly used old photos when they reported on me.

"Don't worry." I assured her. "Tony's a friend."

The woman still looked concerned, but nodded and headed for the door.

"Leave it to Stark to ruin our date." Loki grumbled as he flipped to the next page in his book.

"If it's not Tony, it's Thor." I chuckled.

"I wouldn't have to interrupt if you told anyone where you were going." Tony's digitalized voice came through the Ironman suit.

"Tony, we are grown adults, we can leave the tower for a few hours." I waved him off and opened my book back up. "What did you need, anyway?"

"I need," Tony emphasized as the Ironman suit opened and he stepped out. "To know where you and Queen Elsa run off to." He told me. I glanced up at him and raised a brow.

"Why didn't you call?" I asked.

"I did." Tony said through clenched teeth. I looked even more confused as I reached into my pocket and took out my phone. There were six missed calls from Tony.

"Oh, I forgot to turn my ringer back on. Sorry." I apologized and made sure to switch my ringer on before putting my phone back in my pocket.

"'Sorry' isn't good enough. I need to know where you are." Tony's voice raised in anger a bit. I glanced at Loki to see if he knew what was going on, but he just continued to read his book.

"She was safe with me, Stark. That's all you need to know." Loki told him.

"Safe and you don't really go together." Tony snapped. That's when I finally decided to be pissed. I slammed my book shut and stood up from the couch.

"Outside." I ordered and placed my book on the coffee table. "Now." I told Tony as I walked passed him. I didn't look behind me to see if he was following. I only turned to look at him once I had walked out of the door. "What the hell is your problem?" I demanded as Tony closed the door behind him.

"My problem?" Tony asked. "You're the one acting like a spoiled teenager. All I asked was that you tell me where you're going. If there is an emergency, I need to be able to find you. I don't think that's such an unreasonable request!"

"I'm the one acting like a spoiled teenager?" I questioned. "Really? That's rich, coming from you. You know, you never actually did ask me to let you know if I was leaving. You just started getting pissed. If," I emphasized, "you had asked nicely, I would have had no problem telling you. Again, not that I need to since I'm a grown fucking adult." We'd definitely had this argument before. Not over this exact thing, but over Tony treating me like I was anything but an adult. "But, now you know exactly where we are, so you can leave." I told him and moved passed him to get back into the café.
