《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》It's the Little Things

The rest of dinner went smoothly and conversation came easily. I helped with the leftover dishes after we were all finished eating. I was at the sink, off in my own little world, and drying the same plate for the hundredth time, when two arms caged me against the counter.

"Where's your head at right now, Kitten?" Loki asked and started pressing kisses along my shoulder.

"Nowhere, really." I replied mindlessly, still in a trance of sorts.

"You've been drying the same plate for ten minutes." Loki told me. "Something else has to be occupying your mind."

I sighed and looked at the plate in my hands before setting it aside. I turned in Loki's arms and wrapped my own around his neck.

"I was just thinking how fast everything is going to happen from now on. Except, I forgot that I completely avoided Civil War, so now I have to figure out how to introduce three new characters without messing up the timeline even more."

"Characters?" Loki smiled, amused at my choice of words. I rolled my eyes and huffed.

"You know what I mean." I pouted and looked away from him. Loki's hand reached up and turned my face back to his before he leaned down and gave me a soft kiss.

"You're overthinking it again." Loki told me and pulled me closer by my waist. "You haven't even given yourself a cool down period from Ultron. Let yourself relax and I'm sure the answer will just come to you."

"But... I don't have that much time." I worried. I had less than a year until Civil War was supposed to happen. Just because I stopped the events that lead up to it, didn't mean that something else wouldn't take its place. And, now I had to figure out where Pietro fit into all of this.

"You have plenty of time." Loki comforted. "Come on." He said gently and pulled on my hand to lead me wherever he wanted me to go.

"Where are we going?" I asked and followed him to the elevator. He glanced at me before stopping to press the elevator call button. The elevator opened a few seconds later and we stepped on.

"The library." Loki said and turned to me. His fingers moved some hair, that had fallen out of place, out of my face and behind my ear. "We are going to lay down on the settee in there and you are going to let me read to you for as long as I feel like."

A soft smile spread onto my lips and I stepped closer to kiss him. He happily leaned down to accommodate the height difference. He smiled onto the kiss before looking back and tilting his head.

"What was that for?" He asked, still smiling.

"Nothing." I told him with a shrug and turned to look at the elevator doors. I could feel a slight blush cover my cheeks and refused to look over at Loki.

We'd been together for years now, but the sweet, small things he does still made me all warm. I then wondered if I gave him the same feeling at times. Did Loki like the little things just as much as I did. I tried to think if he did in the past, but then realize that I couldn't remember the last time I did something for Loki just because.

I mean, I did a lot of the little things, like small touches that I knew he loved because his love language was physical touch and quality time, where as mine was physical touch and words of affirmation. I also made his favorite food and deserts, but the last time we had a small date like this... I couldn't remember. Then again, our relationship was far from normal. Looking back on it all, it was astonishing how we made it work. The only fights we've ever really had have been because one of us, usually me, was trying to do something dangerous.

Loki squeezed my hand and led me out of the elevator when the doors opened. The fifteenth floor was were the library was. Actually, this floor was just one big library, but separated into different rooms to make finding things easier.

"I've never actually been down here." I mumbled. Loki smiled back at me as he led me to a certain room with a large wooden door.

"This is the main library, but Stark has many smaller sections. Those are mostly used for his educational works, though." Loki told me and opened the door. He looked at my face while he did, watching my reaction like an excited kid would.

My eyes widened as I looked over the room. Bookshelves, filled with books, lined the walls of the library, floor to ceiling. There were a few standing shelves in the back of the room with more books, but, for the most part, the bookshelves lining the walls contained most of the books in the room. All the wood in the room was dark cherry with a few gold accents to contrast. There was a sitting area with a very fluffy white rug, a red sofa, a coffee table, and a table on each side of the couch with beautiful gold lamps. The entire seating area was in front of a large fireplace, making everything that much more cozy.

"Wow," I whispered. "I should really explore the tower more..."

"Stark's planning on packing up the library in a few days." Loki told me. I could tell how relaxed he felt in here. Like it was his second home. I was guessing it was because of the books, not the room since he always read in our room.

"Why would he pack them up?" I asked and furrowed my brows in confusion.

"To take to the new headquarters." Loki reminded me. "It was the only thing I requested to have brought there."

"Oh, right." I nodded. "When are we actually moving?" I asked. I was excited to be going to the compound, but I was surprisingly sad to leave the tower.

"Next Monday." Loki said and started to pull me toward one of the shelves. "What do you want to read, Dearheart?"

"Umm..." I mumbled as I thought. "I don't think Tony has what I want to read."

"And that would be?" Loki prompted.

"Do you remember the book you read to me on Asgard?" I asked. Loki nodded hesitantly.

"Yes," He answered, "what about it? I'm sure Stark has plenty of books about Asgard and the Nine realms."

"Right, but I actually wanted to know more about things like Yri, the Cosmic Mother. I wanted to know if there were anymore stories I've never heard of." I explained. Loki thought for a moment before humming.

"I don't think your books cover how Bor and Odin got control over the nine realms, though, not a lot was documented-"

"Nope," I interrupted him and shook my head. "I already know that story and I'm not a fan."

"How do-" Loki started to question before I raised my brow at him. "Oh... I wasn't aware your movies covered that far back."

"They don't." I sighed. "Not really, anyway."

"Is it something you can share?" Loki asked before I shook my head.

"Sorry." I mumbled. "Trust me, when this is all over, I'll let you see everything that was supposed to happen. But, for now..."

"For now, you can't say anything." Loki nodded understandingly. We stayed in silence for a moment as I looked over all of the books before something occurred to me.

"Have you read the Harry Potter books yet?" I asked and looked at him. Loki thought for a second before shaking his head. I audibly gasped. "How was that not the very first thing I made you read?"

"What's so important about this book?" Loki questioned.

"Harry Potter is one of the biggest book series in popularity, if not the biggest." I explained. "And," I smirked. "Once you've read me all of the books, we can marathon the movies."

"Deal."
