Loki's POV

I woke with a groan on my lips. It was far too warm to be draped under the covers, but it seemed that that was my predicament. I opened my eyes and squinted against the dim light as my eyes adjusted.

I could immediately feel that something wasn't right. I was alone in the room. Sammee was nowhere in sight and I could feel horrible things through the bond. The feeling made me sick. I wanted to get to Sammee, but couldn't pinpoint where she was.

I sat up and ripped the blanket off of my body to stand. I felt the cold wood of the floor on my bare feet and looked over my attire. I was in a simple black tee shirt and gray sweatpants. I vaguely remembered what happened. Being shot, Sammee crying over me as she tried to get me to say awake...

I had to see her. I had to know she was alright, because she definitely didn't feel alright.

There was a click at the door as the handle was turned. I spun to face whoever was opening it. Thor stood in the doorway and froze when he saw me. I stood to my full height and saw what looked like relief wash over him. He didn't say a word as he quickly walked over to me and crushed me in a hug.

"Get off." I groaned and pushed him back. He didn't move far. He held me at arms length.

"You have no idea how glad I am that you've awoken, brother." Thor told me with actual tears in his eyes. I furrowed my brows at him and shrugged off his hands.

"Happy to know I'm appreciated." I said sarcastically and straightened out my tee shirt. "Now, where's Sammee? Is she here?" I asked. Thor's expression immediately became grim and he wouldn't look me in the eye. "What?" I demanded.

When he didn't answer, I summoned a dagger and pushed him against the wall. He hit hard and I held the dagger to his throat.

"Where is she?" I practically growled at him. The overwhelming emotions I felt through the bond was making it very hard to be calm.

"Brother, there are things that you need to know. Sammee... she's alive, but..."

"But, what?" I hissed. Thor took a deep breath and looked... defeated.

"Let's sit down. There's a lot I need to tell you."

"No!" I said sharply. "You'll tell me now." Out of everything Thor could have said, I was not expecting the words that came out of his mouth.

"She was pregnant." Thor told me.

I lowered my hands to my side, but didn't move otherwise. He had to be wrong. There was no way for a Midgardian and a Jotunn to create a child without the use of magic. And, even if there was, Sammee would have told me, right? She wouldn't hide that from me. Unless... she didn't want the baby. Sammee did tell me that she was not one for children. It took me a few long seconds to fully understand what Thor said.

"Was?" I asked. Thor hung his head and nodded. "How long was I out for?" I asked urgently.

"Four days..." Thor responded. Which meant...

I turned to run out of the room I was in and to the elevator. I slammed my hand on the button and the door opened immediately, still called to this floor from when Thor just used it. I got on the elevator and hit the button to my and Sammee's floor. Thor ran after me, calling for me to wait, but I ignored him. He just made it onto the elevator before the doors closed.

"There are other things you need to know." Thor told me.

"They can wait till after I see Sammee." I snapped.

"No," Thor said and hit the emergency stop button. "They can't wait." He moved in front of the door and crossed his arms. My irrigation was boiling over.

"You have two options." I started. "Either move, or I will bring your body back to mother in a box. Your choice." I told him. "And, don't worry, I'll say a lovely speech at your funeral." I added.

"Loki, this is serious." Thor sighed.

"So am I." I assured and stepped closer to him, showing that my threat was very much real.

"Sammee's not in her room." Thor told me.

"Then where is she?" I asked, my voice taking on a dangerous tone, one that Thor was used to.

"Brother... a lot has happened in the last few days." Thor explained.

"Then put it into words. And I suggest you do it rather quickly." I said.

"When Sammee saw you get shot, she broke a little. She became insanely powerful and completely incinerated the meteor. Sammee hid her pregnancy during the battle. We only found out when she miscarried. There was nothing that could have been done. It wasn't a healthy pregnancy. Nothing Sammee, or anyone, did could have saved the baby." Thor looked tired, I noticed. It looked like he hadn't slept in days.

"Alright." I nodded, taking the information in. Why would she hide it from me? Did she not trust me?

"That's not all." Thor interrupted my thoughts. "Sammee had to have surgery to remove the fetus. When she woke up, she said she saw her child in a dream... a little girl."

"A-a girl?" I asked. I never thought about having a girl. Since being with Sammee I'd wondered in the past what our children would look like, if she decided that was what she wanted, but I never imagined a girl. Always a little boy.

"She went mad, Loki." Thor said. "Mad with the idea of getting that child back."

"Did she succeed?" I asked, not really looking at any one thing. A little girl...

"No, she did not..." Thor spoke carefully. "She... she tried to kill herself, brother."

I snapped my gaze back to Thor's immediately. She would never...

"You're lying." I hissed. Thor looked to the floor and shook his head. A mixture of rage, panic, and terror ripped through me and in the next second I had slammed Thor into the elevator doors. It was fast and I didn't even mean to do it. I was aware that I was acting irrationally, but he still wasn't telling me where she was. "Where. Is. She!" I growled.

The elevator dented with how hard I pushed Thor. His hands wrapped around my wrists, but he didn't shove me off, he only looked at me with pain in his eyes.

"She's too strong, brother." Thor stressed. "And she kept trying to-"

Thor could barely talk. His voice broke and he took a shaky breath. I released Thor and backed away a few steps. I needed to see her with my own eyes. I needed to make sure she was still alive.

"The-" Thor stuttered as he forced the words out. "The only thing we could do was restrain her until we figured out what could be done."

"Restrain her? Like an animal?" I asked softly.

"You didn't see her, Loki. Her hands and eyes turned black, as well as her hair." Thor told me. "There's a Midgardian wizard here with one of the infinity stones. That's what Sammee was after, but the wizard refused to give it to her. The wizard said it could completely destroy our timeline."

"But, would it have worked?" I asked and looked at Thor. He shook his head sadly.

"No, it wouldn't have saved the child."

"My child." I corrected. Thor gave a short nod before continuing the conversation.

"The infinity stone that the wizard had was kept in a device that contained its power. Since Sammee seems to draw power from the stones, we built a larger version of that device to contain her."

I nodded as I took in the information and leaned back against the wall of the elevator. I was silent as I tried to wrap my head around everything, but there was no way I would be able to until I saw her.

"Can I see her?" I asked and looked up to Thor.

"Of course." Thor told me and released the emergency stop. He hit a button for one of the lower level floors before standing against the wall with me.

"Is she really that powerful?" I almost whispered. Thor turned his head to the side to look at me.

"She disintegrated an entire city." Thor reminded me. "All that power started to change her. She started to corrupt herself. That's why her eyes and hands turned black, according to the wizard. And she has this new ability to compel people."

"Compel people?" I questioned.

"Yes, she forced Dr. Cho to heal you. She didn't mean to, but she did. She also used it on me to get me to let her go. I was trying to stop her from leaving the hospital..." Thor shook his head. "I'm sorry, brother. I couldn't stop her."

I didn't answer. I was not good with comforting people, especially Thor. That was much more mother's expertise. Plus, I did blame him, partially anyway. He should have been able to protect her. He promised me he would in my absence.

The elevator dinged and the doors struggled to open with the Thor sized dent I put in them.

"Are you ready, brother?"
