《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》One Step At A Time

Since I was basically in control of Dr. Cho's mind, I had her help Tony to get everything we needed into the quinjet. Tony had already called the hospital and let them know the situation.
I about couldn't get out of the jet. I knew what the doctor was going to say, but to have it finalized like that... I felt like glass, incredibly fragile glass. I clung to Natashas hand and arm the entire time as she led me down the ramp and into the hospital.
"Nat..." I said when we got to the room we were set up in.
I pulled on her hand to stop her while the others continued into the hospital room with Loki. She stopped and turned to look at me. I knew she saw the terror in my eyes because she looked down sadly and sighed. When she looked back up, she offered a small, encouraging smile and squeezed my hand back.
"I won't leave until you ask me to." Natasha assured me. "It'll all be over quickly."
"I can't-" I shook my head. "I can't have them tell me that I killed my child."
"Listen to me." Natasha said and grabbed both of my shoulders. "You didn't kill your child. Stop saying that! You will get through this. You have to." She told me sternly. "You can do this."
"You'll be with me?" I hiccuped through my tears.
"I'll be with you." Nat nodded. "Now take a deep breath." She told me and demonstrated. I closed my eyes and tried to stop shaking. It was a poor attempt, but it was an attempt none the less. "Good." Natasha encouraged. "We'll take things one step at a time. The next step isn't scary at all. All we're doing is walking into a room." She told me. I sniffled and nodded before she took my hand again and started to lead me into the hospital room.

I did what she said. I took things one step at a time. Nat was right, walking into the room wasn't the scary thing. It was the thought of everything after.
When we got into the room, it went quiet. All conversation stopped. Thor was standing next to Loki, listening to the heart monitors slow beeps as he watched the machine continue to heal Loki. He didn't turn to look at me when we came in. I'm not sure if it was deliberate, or he was too deep in thought.
Steve and Tony were talking to a woman in a white lab coat, but, when they saw Nat and me walk in, they stopped talking and watched me like they were waiting for me to break. Honestly, it probably wouldn't take much. I definitely felt broken...
When I saw the doctor they were talking to, I immediately tensed. Steve must have noticed because he gave me a small smile.
"Next step is just meeting someone new, you can do that." Nat encouraged and led me to the doctor Steve and Tony were talking to.
"Hello, Sammee. I'm Dr. Reece, but you can call me Elaine. I'm sorry we have to meet under these circumstances." The doctor told me. She was a petite asian woman in her late thirties with long black hair pulled back in a low bun. "Whenever you're ready, we'll step into the next room and examine you." Dr. Reece said before glancing at my tight grip on Nat's hand. "Your friend can stay with you, if you prefer." She added. I nodded because I didn't think I could speak.
"The next step is just walking into the other room." Natasha continued and squeezed my hand to keep me grounded. "Still not scary, yet." She said and led me to the adjoining room, next to Loki's room.

There was a blue privacy curtain up when we walked into the next room. Nat pulled it back to reveal an examination table with a light pink hospital gown laying on it for me. Next to the table was the ultrasound machine. It looked menacing just sitting in the middle of the room like that.
"Am I allowed to be scared yet?" I asked Natasha as I took small quick breaths and looked everything over.
"You're always allowed to be scared, but the next step is just putting on the gown and sitting on the table." She told me. "That's pretty easy, right?"
It took me a second to realize that she was talking to me like a mother would talk to a scared toddler to keep them calm. I wasn't complaining because she was keeping me calmer than I would be on my own, or with someone else.
"Not scary." I repeated with a nod to convince myself. It was definitely way more for myself than it was Natasha.
"Do you want me to leave while you change?"
"No!" I said quickly and grabbed onto her arm. I felt like I had completely reverted to my childhood form.
"Ok," she told me calmly and pet the top of my head. "Ok, I'll stay. Go get dressed. I'll stay right here."
I hesitated before letting her arm go and walking over to the table where the hospital gown was. I looked down at my suit and tried to figure out where to start. I tried to unzip my suit, but my hand was shaking too bad. I gulped after my third unsuccessful attempt and glanced over at Nat, who had her back turned to give me some privacy.
"Can... can you help me?" I asked her. "I can't get the zipper." I told her. She glanced over her shoulder at me before humming in agreement and turning toward me.
Natasha unzipped the suit and helped me pull my arms out of it. When I went to pull them down my legs, she stopped me quickly.
"Wait!" Nat said. "Don't look down, I'll help you, ok." She told me sternly, more ordering me. I didn't understand why until she pulled the suit down my legs and I felt cold and sticky...
"Nat..." I whimpered as I felt liquid start to slowly drip down my leg.
"Don't look!" She demanded. "We're still ok." Nat said, but it wasn't as convincing as the other times she told me.
If I didn't know Natasha, she would sound completely confident in what she was saying, but I did know her... and she wavered. Nat quickly went over to the sink that was in the room and grabbed some paper towels. She wet a few before coming back to me.
"I'm just going to wipe down your legs, but continue looking away until I tell you." Natasha said. "This might be cold." She apologetically said before starting to wipe my thighs down carefully. "Ok," she stated when she was done. "Put your gown on."
I did what she said and put the gown on before Nat helped me to sit on the examination table.
"I'm just gonna grab the doctor." She told me and rubbed my arm.
My eyes were focused on the ultrasound monitor. It was off, but I knew what it would show once it was on and I was terrified. More terrified than I've been in my entire life.
"Are you ready?"

The Forgotten Hero
Long ago, in the world of Thyne, the Alliance of the Free Races, a name they had given themselves, summoned a hundred humans from another dimension. Praised as heroes by the people, they rejoiced that they had been able to acquire pure, mana deficient humans that wanted to aid them in their time of need, ignoring the black, archaic slave collars around their necks or the depressed, almost hate-filled expressions that they received when interacting with them. After Ten years of bloody war, the dark races were pushed back deep into their territories. Both sides were near breaking point and desperate to end the war once and for all. In a bargain, the twelve surviving heroes launched a high-risk mission, utilising advanced tactics from their home world to kill the Demon Lord. In exchange, they would be sent home, along with the magically preserved corpses of their comrades, though in truth, they knew that even if they returned, they would never be the same. Legends say that, upon ambushing the Demon Lord in his castle, they finally understood the plight of the world, and in the last act of heroism, sacrificed their lives, sealing him in an eternal prison so his essence would not be able to create another. With the loss of the Demon Lord, and no chance for another to be born, the dark races quickly surrendered and the free races celebrated, honouring the noble sacrifice of the heroes before quickly forgetting about them as they returned to their everyday lives. However, legends are rarely truthful, embellished by the victors in order to earn praise as well as hide the less desirable aspects of their deeds. Trapped in the Demon Lord's throne room inside the Demonic Palace, which even taking a single step on its desecrated grounds is punished by death, two figures remain motionless. They had long run out of insults and threats to trade and now they waited. For what, not even the Gods knew.
