《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》The Cradle

Fury came to the farmhouse in another quinjet, so we got back to the tower pretty quickly. Bruce immediately got off the jet to get things set up for when we stole the regeneration cradle from Ultron, I didn't. I stayed behind for a second.

"Fury," I called and walked over to him. "I need you to get your hands on that helicarrier." I told him.

"I wish I was still surprised at how you know about shit." Fury shook his head. "I just thought of the idea."

"Ya, whatever. I'm telling you now so you can get there earlier for evacuation." I explained.

"Get where exactly?" Fury questioned.

"Novi Grad."

"Sokovia?" Fury asked. "This motherfucker gets around."

"Yep." I agreed. "And Fury?" I asked.

"What?"

"You can't call for evacuation ahead of time." I told him sadly. "That's too big of a change."

He looked down and sighed.

"My job is to protect the people." He said.

"And it still is." I assured. "I promise."

Fury was silent for a few long seconds before looking back up at me.

"Fine. You're already giving me more time, least I can do is trust you." He told me. "For now." He added at my small smile.

"Understandable." I nodded and turned to walk off the jet. "See you tomorrow." I told him and teleported to the main operating room of the Avengers, where Bruce was. He jumped when I suddenly appeared a few feet away from him. "What's up, Doc?" I asked and sat in one of the swivel chairs.

"I'm getting everything set up for the cradle." Bruce told me. "We have to be fast if we want to destroy it."

"It can't be destroyed." I said as I spun in my chair.

"What?" Bruce asked and stopped to look at me.

"You can't destroy it." I repeated. "Well, technically you could, but you can't... understand?" I asked.

"Not in the slightest." He shook his head.

"You can destroy it, but that's not what you're going to do." I explained.

"O...k...?" Bruce drew out. "So what am I going to do?" He asked hesitantly.

"You'll figure that out later. What you can do now is figure out how to connect the synopses from the Stone to function collectively instead of attaching each neuron non-sequentially."

"I-... is that even possible?" Bruce muttered. "Well, I guess we could..." he trailed off as he walked over to the computer and started typing away.

Hours passed as Bruce worked. I stayed in my swivel chair and played solitaire with a deck of cards I found in a drawer. As it was starting to get dark, Tony finally got back to the tower.

"I got him!" Tony announced and held up his handheld device.

"Ultron?" Bruce asked hopefully and turned to see Tony.

"Uh, no." Tony said and shook his head as he projected J.A.R.V.I.S.'s visual representation for us to see.

"Hello, Dr. Banner, Ms. Sammee." J.A.R.V.I.S. greeted.

"Ultron didn't attack him because he was angry. He attacked him because he was scared of what he can do." Tony explained. "He dropped everything but his protocols. He didn't even know he was in there until I pieced him together."

A loud whooshing sound drew our attention to the landing deck. Clint was finally here with the cradle. He, Steve, and Nat had successfully stolen it from Ultron.

"Tony, hide J.A.R.V.I.S." I told him. "Both of you keep your mouths shut about this." I instructed.

"He has Nat." Clint called into the room.

"What?" Bruce asked and walked over to see Clint come down the stairs.

"Ultron. He took Nat before she could get in the jet with the cradle." Clint said.

"But, you do have the cradle, right?" Tony asked.

"Yes." Clint responded.

"Alright, I'll look for anything that could tell us where Ultron could take Romanoff, and keep the channels open in case she tries to contact us. We'll find her, don't worry." Tony told Clint. "For now, let's get to work on the cradle."

For the next hour, Tony and Bruce did multiple scans of the cradle. I helped where I could, but the technology was above anything I'd ever studied. Bruce tried to open it a few times, but it wouldn't budge until the upload process was complete.

"So, I think I figured out a way to connect the synopses collectively." Bruce spoke softly to me. "If I run the-"

"What are we whispering about over here?" Tony asked as he tried to butt in to our conversation. Bruce glanced at me for help, but it didn't matter if Tony knew. I glanced over my shoulder to make sure Clint wasn't listening in.

"Connecting the synopses from the body to the Stone collectively instead of non-subsequently." I said.

"Ok, why?" Tony asked.

"It'll help with a future problem." I explained.

"Anything on Nat?" Bruce asked.

"I haven't heard." Tony sighed and turned back to the cradle. "But she's alive, or Ultron would be rubbing our faces in it."

"This is sealed tight." Clint said and jumped off of the cradle.

"Any chance Natasha might leave you a message outside the internet?" Tony asked Clint. "Old-school spy stuff?" He shrugged.

"There are some nets I can cast." Clint nodded and turned to walk off. "Ya, I'll find her." He mumbled and walked down the stairs to the lower level.

As soon as Clint was out of sight, and earshot, Tony turned to us.

"So, I'm guessing you two are on board with not destroying this thing." Tony said and knocked on the cradle for emphasis.

"Well, I still have doubts, but Sammee says we can't destroy it." Bruce told him and shot me a hesitant look.

"Right," I nodded in agreement.

"Perfect, so here's what I was thinking." Tony said and pulled J.A.R.V.I.S.'s visual representation up again. Once J.A.R.V.I.S. was up, Tony looked at Bruce expectantly.

"You want me... to help you put J.A.R.V.I.S. into this thing?" Bruce asked.

"No," Tony dismissed. "Course not. I want to help you put J.A.R.V.I.S. into this thing."

Bruce shook his head and lifted his hands up like he didn't know what to do with them.

"We're out of my field, here." Tony told him. "You know bio-organics better than anyone."

"And you're just assuming that J.A.R.V.I.S.'s operational matrix can beat Ultron's?" Bruce questioned.

"I don't know, let's ask the walking encyclopedia of our world." Tony said and turned to me.

"Tony, you know that's more information than I can give." I told him and leaned against the cradle.

"Look," Tony said and turned back toward Bruce. "Why would she tell you how to rewire the synopses if this was going to end badly?" Tony asked. "Plus, J.A.R.V.I.S. has already been beating him from the inside without knowing it." Tony walked closer to Banner as he tried to convince him. "This is the opportunity. We can create Ultron's perfect self without the homicidal glitches he thinks are his winning personality. We have to."

"I believe it's worth a go." J.A.R.V.I.S. chimed in.

"Im in a loop!" Bruce frustratedly exclaimed. "Im caught in a time loop. This is exactly where it all went wrong."

"I know, I know, I know what everyone's going to say. But they're already saying it." Tony told him.

"Got that right." I scoffed. Tony glared at me before continuing.

"We're mad scientists."

"Emphasis on the 'mad'." I interrupted again.

"Will you shut up?" Tony huffed at me. I rolled my eyes and kicked off the cradle.

"Listen, think about everything I've told you in the last few hours, and make a decision." I told Bruce and pat him on the shoulder.

"It's not a loop." Tony added. "It's the end of the line."
