《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》The Program

The robots were easy to take down since they no longer had Ultron to tell them to attack us. We then went to get a report from security on the sweep they did over the building. There was nothing, it was clear.
Once we were done with that we joined everyone in Tony's lab.
"Where are we?" Steve asked as we walked in.
"All our work is gone." Bruce told him. "Ultron cleared out. He used the internet as an escape hatch, just like Sammee said."
"Ultron." Steve repeated the name.
"He's been in everything." Nat said. "Files, surveillance." She continued. "Probably knows more about us than we know about each other."
"He's in your files, he's in the internet." Rhodey told us as he walked and held his injured arm. "What if he decides to access something a little more exciting?" He asked.
"Nuclear codes." Agent Hill answered.
"Nuclear codes." Steve agreed.
"Look, we need to make some calls." Rhodey told us. "Assuming we still can."
"Do we know what he wants?" Clint asked.
"Ultron doesn't believe there can be peace as long as the Avengers exist. He wants us extinct." I finally spoke up.
"Extinct?" Steve asked. "That's an extreme action to take."
I walked over to where Tony was still staring at the mutilated vessel Ultron used and took his personal device from his hand to upload J.A.R.V.I.S.'s visual representation to the holographic platform.
"So is this." I told Steve as the image appeared for everyone to see. J.A.R.V.I.S. was broken in so many ways. The normal swirl the orange ball of intelligence had was frozen and shattered to pieces. Bruce was the first to approach.
"What?" Bruce muttered under his breath. "This is insane..." He said and looked up to Tony who still had his back turned.
"J.A.R.V.I.S. was the first line of defense." Steve started. "He would have shut Ultron down. It makes sense."

"No, Ultron could have assimilated J.A.R.V.I.S. This isn't strategy. This is... rage." Bruce corrected while looking over J.A.R.V.I.S.
"J.A.R.V.I.S. is still helping us, though." I told them. "The same way Ultron escaped, through the internet. J.A.R.V.I.S. is keeping him from getting launch codes. He's still helping." I explained.
"Is there a way to track Ultron using the internet?" Loki asked.
"No." I sighed and shook my head.
Heavy footprints were heard as Thor stormed into the lab and headed straight for Tony.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Steve called out as Thor grabbed Tony by his throat and lifted him off the ground.
"It's going around." Clint sarcastically said, not moving an inch to help.
"Come on, use your words, buddy." Tony got out as he struggled against Thor's hand.
"I have more than enough words to describe you, Stark." Thor told him threateningly.
"Thor," I called to him calmly. "Put him down, please."
Thor huffed as he dropped Tony to the ground and pushed him away. Tony stumbled backwards, but didn't fall on his ass.
"The Legionnaire?" Steve asked Thor. While they talked, I walked back over to where Loki was leaning against one of the tables. I stood in front of him before leaning back against his chest. He kissed the back of my head while his arm automatically went around my waist to pull me closer.
"Trail went cold about a hundred miles out, but it's headed north." Thor said as he glared at Tony. "And it has the scepter." He added. "Now we have to retrieve it, again." He told Steve.
"The genies out of that bottle." Nat said. "Clear and present is Ultron."
"I don't understand." Dr. Cho spoke up. She had been so quite up till now that I forgot she was even here. "You built this program." She noted as she looked at the vessel Ultron used. "Why is it trying to kill us?" Dr. Cho asked and turned toward Tony.

Tony turned away from her and, a second later, started laughing. Everyone looked at him like he was crazy.
"You think this is funny?" Thor asked and step toward Tony. Tony stopped laughing and turned to look at Thor.
"No," Tony said and looked around at all of our faces. "It's probably not, right?" He asked. "This is very terrible. Is it so..." he cut himself off with another laugh. "Is it so... it is. It's so terrible." He told Thor.
"This could have been avoided if you hadn't played with something you didn't understand." Thor accused.
"No, I'm sorry. It's funny." Tony told him seriously and stepped up to him. "It's a hoot that you don't get why we need this."
"Tony," Bruce warned "maybe this might not be the time to-"
"Really?" Tony turned and snapped at him. "That's it? You just roll over, show your belly every time somebody snarls?"
"Only when I've created a murder bot." Bruce shot back with.
"We didn't." Tony told him. "We weren't even close. Were we close to an interface?" Tony challenged. Bruce mocked him with a dismissive shrug.
"Well, you did something right. And you did it right here." Steve said and slowly walked toward Tony. "The Avengers were supposed to be different than S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Anybody remember when I carried a nuke through a wormhole?" Tony asked and looked around.
"No, no. It's never come up." Rhodey sarcastically said.
"Saved New York?" Tony asked and pointed up like the wormhole was still there.
"Never heard that." Rhodey shook his head.
"Recall that?" Tony questioned.
"Tony-" I started, but was cut off.
"A hostile alien army came charging through a hole in space." Tony told us. "We're standing three hundred feet below it." He turned and looked around at everyone. "We're the Avengers. We can bust arms dealers all the live long day, but that up there," he stopped and pointed up again. "That's... that's the endgame. How were you guys planning on beating it?" Tony asked.
"Together." Steve told him.
"We'll lose." Tony turned to him and said.
"Then we'll do that together, too." Steve assured him.
My heart squeezed painfully at the reference to one of the last Avengers movies and all the sudden I was crying. Silent tears fell down my cheeks and I cursed the stupid pregnancy hormones for making me so emotional.
"Thor's right." Steve continued as I tried to stop crying before someone took notice. "Ultron is calling us out. And I'd like to find him before he's ready for us. The worlds a big place. Let's start making it smaller."
I didn't wait, I just turned and walked out of the room. I headed directly for the bathroom, so I could cry in private. I should have known that privacy wasn't a word used to describe this world.
"Are you alright?" Loki asked as he came in and shut the door behind him.
"I- ya, I'm ok." I nodded and wiped my tears away. "I'm ok." I tried to assure him, but my eyes wouldn't stop tearing up. "I just need a minute." I told him.
"Alright." Loki said and locked the door before he walked over to me.
He put his arms around me and hugged me closely. I gave into the hug and wrapped my arms tightly around his waist.
"Are you going to tell me what's wrong?" He asked. I shook my head and buried my face in his shirt. "Can you tell me what's wrong?" He emphasized the word 'can' to ask if it was something I was even allowed to talk about. I shook my head again and he sighed before taking down my hair from its up style I had it in for the party and running his hands through it. He knew exactly what I liked and how to calm me down.
