《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》The Doctor's In

Five months later
I was measuring out chemicals when the doors to my lab slid open.
"You want to tell me why you're here instead of in my office?" Dr. Raynor announced as she came in.
"Told you." Loki taunted from his spot on the couch. He was reading a book and didn't look up as he spoke.
"Ya, great, thanks." I grumbled at Loki. "If you haven't noticed, I'm a little busy at the moment." I told Dr. Raynor, also without looking up from what I was doing.
"Sure, and I'll just tell the american government that you had more important things to do than stay out of federal prison." Dr. Raynor scolded.
"Uh-hu..." I mumbled, not really listening.
"How long has she been like this this time?" Dr. Raynor asked Loki.
"Three days." He answered as he flipped his page.
"Has she eaten?"
"Only when he makes me." I answered and dropped a powdered substance into a beaker of liquid.
"That is true." Loki agreed.
"Ok, that's enough." Dr. Raynor said. "Get up."
I ignored her. I only had three more weeks until Ultron. I needed to have everything perfect before then.
"I'm not going to tell you again." Dr. Raynor said in her 'Army General' voice as I liked to call it. I grumbled a sigh and put down the beaker to look at her.
"I just need a few more days." I told her. "I'm almost done! I just need to figure out how to extend the shelf life of the solution and then add it to the mechanism." I explained.
"You can do that after you've taken a break." Dr. Raynor told me and crossed her arms over her chest. "Now!"
"I-" I sighed and looked over to Loki.

"Don't look at me. I agree with the doctor." He smirked and glanced at me from over his book. I huffed as I stood from my chair.
"When did you two start agreeing?" I asked.
"When it came to your well-being." Dr. Raynor said and reached over to take my protective glasses off my face. "Coat, too." She told me and pointed to my white lab coat. I rolled my eyes at her as I took it off and threw it over my chair. "Good, follow me." She said and turned to leave the room.
I followed her to the elevator and waited as she pushed the button to summon it.
"So, where are we going?" I asked when the elevator door opened.
"You'll find out when we get there." She responded and gestured for me to step into the elevator. I sighed as I complied.
Dr. Raynor pushed one of the buttons before standing back. I was leaning against the back of the elevator, so Dr. Raynor's back was too me.
"We're having an emergency therapy session." She told me without looking back at me. "Since you didn't bother to come in for your appointment, due to your obsessive tendencies, I had to come to you, again." She emphasized the last word to state her point.
This wasn't the first time she had tracked me down because I missed a session. After the second, or third time it happened, Tony gave her access to the building.
"I'm not obsessed." I argued. "I'm just... getting prepared."
"Being prepared and being obsessed are two different things. As soon as you let your work consume all of your time, it became obsession." Dr. Raynor explained as the elevator opened to the main living room and kitchen.
I immediately smelled food when I stepped off the elevator. My mouth watered as I recognized the smell as pizza.

"I want you to eat at least two pieces before I let you go back to your science cave." Dr. Raynor told me as I followed her into the kitchen.
There were eight different boxes of pizza. None of them looked touched yet, but I knew it wasn't all for me. The others would be down for some once they got wind that there was food.
"Grab some and come sit." Dr. Raynor instructed and went to sit at the dining table.
I grabbed three pieces of cheese pizza and a bottle of water before walking over to take a seat. Dr. Raynor had taken out her notebook and a pen and waited until I took a bite to finally start.
"I'm guessing you haven't even tried to get six hours of consistent sleep this week." She commented. "So let's talk about how easily you slip into obsession."
"It's not obsession." I rolled my eyes and took another bite of pizza. "I just need to get the formula right. God forbid something happens where I'll need to use the sealant." I told her around the mouth full of pizza.
"When you started ignoring your basic needs, it became obsession." She said. "Your paranoia over the future doesn't help either."
"Paranoia is the fear of things that might happen. I already know what's going to happen. Which is why I'm getting prepared."
"You're paranoid that you will do something wrong, mess something up, that that butterfly effect, you're always going on about, will change the outcome you already know." Dr. Raynor said. "That's paranoia."
"Fine." I grumbled. "I'm a bit paranoid," I said and took a sip of my water. "But that's not really a bad thing in this line of work."
"You're more than a little, and yes it is a bad thing when you neglect yourself." Dr. Raynor argued.
"I'm not neglecting myself." I protested. "I've eaten, and slept, and drank water. I'm fine!"
"Ok, when was the last time you slept longer than the three hours Loki makes you get a night?"
I hesitated for a second as I thought and realized that I didn't remember.
"I don't know." I brushed it off. "I don't pay attention."
"You don't pay attention to if you sleep?" She asked questioningly.
"No, I guess I don't." I told her, getting frustrated.
"Hmm," she hummed and wrote something down.
"What?" I asked with a frown.
"Nothing." She said and looked back up to me. "Just adding compulsive lying to your file."
"Ok," I huffed and stood up, I grabbed my half eaten plate of pizza and started to walk away.
"We're not done, Sammee." She told me.
"Well, I am." I snapped back.
"Sit back down, please." She said in that way that made it sound like a command.
"Not if you're going to keep attacking me."
"I'm not attacking you, I'm telling you the truth. You only see it as me attacking you because you're trying to avoid it." Dr. Raynor explained.
"Then let me avoid it, because I definitely don't want to have this conversation right now. I have other things to do." I told her.
"Which is exactly why you need to talk about it." She said back.
"I'll talk about it after I'm done with the solution and mechanism. I'll see you next week, Dr. Raynor." I told her finitely and teleported back to my lab to finish my project.
