《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》Happy 'Belated' Birthday

A birthday party... Tony Stark threw me a birthday party... on Halloween night. It couldn't have been any more perfect. I made sure to walk around, greeting people and seeing everyone's costumes.

Thor was dressed as a Viking, Bruce was a zombie doctor, Clint was Robin Hood (Obviously), Rhodey was Louis Armstrong (Trumpet and all), Natasha was Trinity from Matrix, Sam was Indiana Jones, and Steve was Marty Mcfly from Back to the Future. They all looked amazing, especially Nat, but I might be biased.

Loki gave me his attention the entire night. If I asked him to dance, he'd simply hold out his hand and reply 'As you wish'. It was the same when I asked him if he could get me a drink while I talked to Nat. He was by my side the entire time.

I mingled a bit with the other guests, but socializing wasn't really my thing, so I eventually gave up and stayed in my group of Avengers. We were all on the couches around the coffee table talking and sharing stories. People started leaving at around one in the morning. By one-thirty, Tony had kicked the rest of the guests out.

"Alright, Buttercup, I have a few more things for you." Tony told me and stood from his seat. "Mcfly, help me with this, would ya?"

Steve snorted as he rolled his eyes, but stood up to help him.

"Tony, the party was enough." I said knowing full well he was going to continue doing whatever he wanted.

"Ya, whatever." Tony called as he started walking away. "Just-stay!"

"Woof." I said and held my hands up like paws making Natasha laugh. "I missed us all being together." I told everyone.

Loki sat to my right with his arm around me. Thor, Natasha, and Clint sat across from me on the other couch. Rhodey sat in a chair on Loki's right. Bruce was in a chair on Thor's left. Next was Tony's chair at the front of the coffee table with Sam in another chair to his right and then Steve's seat on the couch next to me on my left.

Most of us had shed the majority of our costumes down to the basic clothing. I took my heels off, but I kept my crown on. I wasn't going to take it off that easily.

"I'm glad you guys are here." I said just as Tony came back into the room without Steve.

"I leave for five seconds and you immediately get into the sappy shit?" Tony questioned.

"What can I say, your personality's rubbing off on me." I joked dramatically. "Where's Steve?"

"Good question." Tony said. "Hurry the hell up, Red, White, and Blue!" He called to the back of the room.

"Well, if you didn't leave me to do all the work, Tony, I'd have been faster." Steve said as he walked around the corner carrying a beautiful cake with two sparklers stuck into it.

"You got me a cake?" I squeaked out in disbelief, not taking my eyes off the cake as Steve moved closer to me.

"It's not a belated-birthday-party without cake." Tony told me.

"But-"

"You've been here for years, Skydive, and we've never even asked your birthday." Tony interrupted me as Steve set the cake on the coffee table in front of me and retook his seat.

"You haven't celebrated your birthday in years because you've been too busy helping us." Steve chimed in.

"It's the least everyone can do." Loki said in my ear, making me shiver. I glanced away from the cake to see everyone waiting to know my response.

"I-... Thank you." I finally came up with. "But, please, dear god, no one sing happy birthday." I said as I licked my finger and leaned forward to put out the sparklers.

"We also all got you a little something." Nat spoke up and handed me a box.

"I don't need anything." I laughed but still accepted the box, because who didn't like presents?

I opened the box, noting Natasha's smug smirk, and removed the layer of tissue paper to reveal two sleek black objects. I pulled one out and studied it for a moment before I figured out what it was.

"You're joking!" I excitedly said as I practically bounced in my seat.

"Happy birthday." Nat told me. "Still don't know why you wanted one so badly when you could just teleport." She mumbled just loud enough for me to hear. I shook my head and looked back down at the device.

"What is it?" Loki asked.

"It's a widows line!" I told him. "It's basically a grappling hook tethered to a retractable line." I explained. "And I wanted one because my teleportation has an energy limit." I told Natasha. "I want to start practicing teleporting living things, but that takes a lot of energy and these would be helpful in those situations."

"Mine next!" Thor said happily and handed me a long wooden box. It was about a foot and a half in length. "Happy day of birth, Little sister."

I took it from him and saw that there was a front panel that slid down. Inside was a bottle of Asgardian mead. All Asgardian mead was aged a minimum of eight hundred years, but I could tell that this one was much older.

"Thor..." Loki sighed disapprovingly.

"How-" I stuttered. "How old is this?" I asked.

"Aged for nine thousand years. It's mother's favorite year." Thor answered.

"Wow..." Nat commented while Clint whistled.

I glanced to Loki, who still had his arm around me, to see that he was frowning at the bottle.

"What?" I asked him with a nudge of my shoulder. He sighed disapprovingly again and looked at me.

"If you drink that, I'll have to pick you up off of the floor." He told me. I snorted and nodded in agreement.

"But it would be fun." I told him.

"For you maybe." Loki grumbled teasingly and took the wooden box from me, setting it on the floor by his feet.

"Guess that means I'm next." Clint said and sat up in his chair to pull something out of his pocket.

"You got me a present?" I asked, surprised that he would get me anything. Our relationship was still rocky at best.

"It's not actually from me." Clint shrugged and handed me a small poorly wrapped present.

It looked like a child wrapped it. It was a bit smaller than the palm of my hand and I turned it a bit to examine it. I carefully pulled at the tape keeping the paper loosely together. Once I got it open, I tipped it over and into my hand. A small object fell from the paper. It was a small clay model of me in my purple tactical suit, with the addition of white angel wings attached to my back.

I stared at it in awe. It was clearly made by a child. The proportions were off and awkward, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I loved it.

"Is this-"

"Lila." Was all Clint said.

"You're her favorite." Nat supplied with a smile.

"It's beautiful. Thank you, Clint. Please tell her that I'll keep it on my desk, so I can look at it every day." I told him.

"Who the hell is Lila?" Tony asked.

"A friend." I said, hoping he would be bored with my answer and move on. Luckily, he did.

"Whatever. Who's next? Hurry up, I want to get to mine." Tony announced.

"Why don't I just open yours next?" I asked.

"Because you always save the best for last." Tony smirked.

"Actually, I believe that honor will be mine." Loki smugly said to challenge Tony. Tony's eyes narrowed, but he gave in quicker than I expected.

"Fine, boyfriend privileges. I get it, but mine will be better." Tony huffed.

"Ok." I laughed. "I'll keep that in mind."

Bruce was next. He gave me a smile as he leaned forward and handed me my present. It was a black jewelry box. I looked at him skeptically as I took the box and opened it. I was definitely going to make him return it if it was expensive.

Inside was a simple silver bracelet. There was a chain that lead to a silver rectangular plate with the word 'Angel' engraved into it.

"The plate is filled with a high concentration of your seizure meds. When it senses that you're about to seize, it will dose you to counteract it. You won't need to keep waking up to take your medicine anymore." Bruce explained. "A-and I know the whole 'Angel' thing is a bit controversial, but I think it fits." He told me shyly.

"Thanks, Bruce." I said genuinely. "So, how does it dose me? Does it have a needle to get the medication into my bloodstream?" I asked to make him more comfortable. Explaining the science of things always made him perk up, so I tried to ask as many questions as possible, even if I already knew the answer.

"No." He said with a small smile. "It's a gel. It will only administer it under where the silver band is. It will be such a small dose that you won't even notice it." He explained.

I nodded in understanding and took it out of the box. I leaned forward and held the bracelet out to Bruce.

"Can you help me put it on?" I asked him. Bruce sputtered for a second and glanced at Loki.

"I'm not going to kill anyone for helping her put on jewelry." Loki said in an amused manner. "Not that I could actually kill you." He added. I laughed and rested my outstretched arm on the corner of the coffee table to turn and laugh at Loki who was already smiling at me.

"Right, sorry." Bruce mumbled apologetically and leaned forward to help me put on the bracelet. It went around my left arm and sat snuggly against my wrist.

"Me next?" Steve asked before he turned and pulled a gift bag from the side of the couch. "Happy late birthday, Sammee." He said as he set the bag on my lap. I peaked into the bag, immediately closed it, and jumped to face him.

"No way!" I screeched. "No way!"

Steve laughed as everyone else looked confused. I opened the bag back up and pulled out the dark blue helmet. It was identical to the original one Steve wore in the first Captain America movie, except this one had as 'S' instead of an 'A' on the front.

"You're getting this excited over a helmet?" Tony asked. "I could make you a better helmet with my eyes closed."

"It's not just a helmet!" I protested defensively. "It's a symbol."

"A symbol of what?" Tony asked with a skeptical look. "Bad fashion?"

I rolled my eyes at Tony before looking back at Steve.

"Thank you!" I told him and leaned forward to hug him. "I love it."

Next was Sam. His gift was in a red gift bag with white tissue paper. Inside was, what felt like, a flat piece of plastic. I pulled it out to see that it was a plastic protector and inside the protector was a piece of paper. I turned it over in my hand and gasped. There was beautiful writing on the paper for a recipe.

"Mama Wilson's sweet potato pie recipe." Sam said smiling. He told me all about his moms cooking and how good her sweet potato pie was. I told him that I wished I had the chance to try it.

"Sam, are you- are you sure you want to give me this? This looks like she hand wrote this one. I can just photo copy it and-"

"Absolutely not." Sam interrupted. "Recipes like this aren't meant to have copies. You either have the original, hand written, recipe, or pray you remember all the measurements and ingredients." He told me.

"Ok, then. Thank you, Sam." I said and looked up from the recipe to look at him.

"You'll put it to good use. I know you will." Sam smiled at me and raised his drink in a small toast to me. "Happy Birthday."

Rhodey's gift came next and I was confused when I pulled it from the box. It was a softball sized model of the moon. It was a lamp and came with a rotating stand.

"For when you can finally teleport to the moon." He told me, triggering my memory about the conversation we had about me theoretically teleporting to the moon.

By the time it was Tony's turn, he was extremely impatient. He lit up when I looked at him expectantly.

"Finally, we can get to the star of the show." He announced and walked over to the bar.

He went behind the bar before picking something up and coming back with a chunky black suitcase. Tony set the suitcase in front of me on the coffee table and took a step back.

"Lay your hand palm side down on the top." Tony told me. I gave a small, nervous laugh before shrugging and laying my hand on the case. A blue line of light moved over my hand before two beeps were heard.

"Welcome, Skydive." A female computerized voice said from the case. I took my hand off and the case automatically opened. Inside was a new suit. It was purple like my HYDRA one was, but styled like my old Avengers one was.

"You never really wore the first one and purple is definitely your color." Tony said.

I was speechless as I pulled the suit out of the case. This one didn't have a jacket like my first Avengers suit did, but it had a hood. There were holsters everywhere, including in the arms.

"I figured you got used to the placement of things on your HYDRA suit, so I left those holsters, but added some new ones. There's also a place on each hip for your new toys from Romanoff, and, as always, the suit is bulletproof." Tony explained. "I also added a few surprises."

I looked up at Tony then. "You didn't have to do this."

"I did." He responded. "You keep making mistakes because you're used to your HYDRA suit." He told me. "And you were due for an upgrade."

"Thank you, Tony." I said genuinely and set the suit back into the case. "It's more than I deserve." I sighed quietly under my breath. Apparently, it wasn't quietly enough because Loki leaned down and kissed my shoulder.

"You deserve so much more than you realize." He assured me. I relaxed into him and smiled as he kissed my temple.

"Ok, Lover boy, you're up." Tony announced. "How are you going to beat 'badass, custom made, high-tech, battle suit'?"

"Quite easily, I'm afraid." Loki said and sent a smirk over to Tony who scoffed.

Loki shifted so he could pull his arm out from around me and put his palms together. As he pulled his palms apart a green light flashed, following the path his hands took. A beautifully wrapped present came into existence from where the light traveled over. When Loki was finished, he set the wrapped long rectangular box on my lap.

"Happy late birthday, my love." He whispered to me as he moved some of my hair from my shoulder, skimming his necklace with his fingertips.

I watched him for a second, entrapped by his mesmerizing green eyes. For a moment, all of my problems disappeared. It was only me and him.

"Either open the present, or get a room." Nat teased, causing everyone to laugh, except Loki. He never took his eyes off me. I smiled and dropped my gaze.

I could feel a blush go to my cheeks as I laughed softly. I focused back on the present and started to open it. After getting past the layer of wrapping paper, I opened the top of the black box. Inside, the box was set in dark purple velvet and laying in that velvet were two items I thought I'd never see again. Eldr and Íss sat beautifully in the box.

"You- w-where...I-How did you-" I stuttered as my brain tried to catch up to what my eyes were seeing.

"Asgardian metals cannot be so easily destroyed, so I knew the fire from the oil rig hadn't destroyed it. I just had to locate them." Loki explained.

"To Asgard!" Thor announced loudly and held up his drink in a toast before downing it. Everyone basically ignored him.

"But they-" I stopped and just stared at them for a second.

Íss was lost in the fight on the oil tanker, but Eldr was left here in the tower when Tony kicked me and Loki out. I looked for it when we got back, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

"Where did you find them?" I asked and looked at Loki. "I thought I looked everywhere."

"HYDRA got ahold of them somehow." He told me. "I found them at the last base we stormed."

I took Íss out from the box and twisted the blade in my hand. It didn't even have a scratch on it.

"I-" I shook my head trying to think of words to say that would let him know how grateful I was to have them back, but couldn't think of anything good enough. "Thank you, Loki."
