《As You Wish : Loki Fanfic》Realization

A few days later, Steve called another meeting.
"The media is having a field day with Sammee and Buck." Steve said. "What do we have to keep this from getting out of hand?"
"I've got the videos from HYDRA's database, but I don't think that's something we want made public." Tony said and pulled out a flash drive from his pocket. He tossed it to the head of the table where Steve was standing. "Don't watch it with me in the room. I don't want to see it again." Tony said seriously.
I stared at the flash drive, wondering just how much was on it.
"What is it?" Thor asked from next to Loki. He was also looking at the flash drive. Tony glanced at me, letting me explain.
"It's... it's the training HYDRA put me through." I explained.
"Training for what?" Thor questioned and looked at me, but I kept my eyes on the drive.
"To be one of their 'assets'." Bucky cut in for me. "And 'training' is putting it gently."
"Is there anything on it that we could use?" Steve asked, the room getting quiet.
"Not sure." Tony spoke up. "Like I said, I'm not watching it again."
Steve slowly reached down and picked up the flash drive. He held it up as he twirled it through his fingers.
"How much is on this?" Steve asked.
"Too much." Tony replied and stood up. "About a weeks worth of footage. Let me know when you're done watching it." He said before walking out of the room.
It was quiet again until I spoke to Loki.
"Can you and Thor wait in the living room while Steve watches the footage?" I asked without looking at him.
"Absolutely not." Loki huffed, offended that I'd even ask.
"Loki, please?" I begged and finally looked at him.
"Why wouldn't you want me here? Why don't you want me to know what you went through?"
"Loki..." I sighed. "I do want you to know what happened last year, but I know you and if you see this footage you'll go after HYDRA." I told him. "We can't go after HYDRA until we're ready."

"I won't then, I swear to you, just let me see." He said.
He was sitting next to me and started rubbing his hand up and down my arm. He knew I melted when he did that, the sneaky bastard. I bit my lip as I considered it. It was a bad idea to let him and Thor stay, but if I didn't Loki would take it personally. He did swear...
"Fine." I said. "But if I find out that either of you," I glanced between him and Thor, "had anything to do with going after HYDRA before we're supposed to, I will personally throw both of your asses in a cage." I threatened. "I might even get Banner to let Hulk out for some fun."
"Please don't." Bruce cringed in his seat across the table from me.
"Hulk is actually a pretty cool dude once you get to know him." I told Bruce. He didn't answer as he hid behind his hand and looked over to Steve.
"Alright," Steve said. "Let's plug this in."
I tensed as the video was projected in the middle of the table. The HYDRA training room was shown. The camera must have been in the corner of the room. I knew they were recording, but I could never find the cameras.
This particular video was from one of my first weeks training. My first trainer was teaching me hand-to-hand, but if I messed up, he wouldn't stop. They said it was to train my brain faster. If I got hurt bad enough my brain would correct itself to make sure it didn't happen again.
I thought that month would be the worst month of my training, but when they started training my teleportation skills I quickly found out that I was wrong. No doubt that that footage was also on the drive somewhere.
Luckily, there was no sound to the video, but based on my movements it wasn't hard to tell what I was saying.
"JARVIS, skip to month two." I said. They didn't need to see me failing at hand-to-hand for hours.

The video cut to my stealth drills and I sucked in a sharp breath. This video was when they nearly beat me to death for teleporting during the drill. I looked away from the video, not wanting to relive it, and looked at Loki.
His eyes were hard as they burned through the image in the middle of the table. His body was tense as he gripped the arms of the chair he was sitting in. I quickly glanced back to the video to see an image of me on my knees with guards surrounding me. They had already kicked the shit out of me, but that wasn't enough. Again, there was no sound, but you could clearly tell that I was begging for them to stop.
I closed my eyes and looked down as I bit my lip waiting for the video to be over, but there were so many more clips. When I heard a cracking sound, I opened my eyes to see that Loki had broken the arms of the metal chair he sat in. He was squeezing it so hard that the metal crunched under his strength. As soon as I saw blood from where his hands still gripped the chair, I paused the video.
"JARVIS, stop the video!" I said quickly.
"Right away, Ms. Sammee." JARVIS replied.
"Loki..." I said and touched his arm. His angry eyes snapped to me.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked me. "I was there! I was right there and you didn't say a word." Loki hissed at me.
"Loki, I had to-"
"Had to?" He interrupted. "Had to what? Torture yourself for someone who didn't deserve it?"
I took a deep breath trying to calm my own anger. I knew he was hurt and was just lashing out.
"We talked about this, I-"
"No, you talked," Loki interrupted again. "Because if it was up to me this would have never happened! Your ungrateful Avengers would never see you again and you would be safe!" He emphasized before abruptly standing up, the chair slamming into the wall as he did, and walking out of the room.
I sat for a moment, staring at the door. Waiting for him to come back, but he didn't. I took a shaky deep breath before turning and looking at everyone else. Thor was at least controlling his anger a bit better, Bruce had his back turned, not looking at the video, Bucky stared at the image projected of me laying on the ground, and Steve looked... grim.
...Great...
"He's right." Bucky spoke up. "Nothing was worth going through this, especially me."
"Shut up." I said warningly and glared at him. Bucky looked from the video to me.
"Steve would have gotten to me on the bridge. You said it yourself. You didn't change those events at all!"
"I wasn't there to change events!" I snapped. "I was there to make sure your memories didn't overwhelm you. Yes, you remembered at the end of the movie, but it was so much at once that you ran."
"Maybe that would have been better." Bucky told me.
"Better for who?" I seethed. "Definitely not better for you." I told him. "Or Steve." I gestured.
"Better for you!" Bucky stood and slammed his hands on the table. I stood with him, refusing to be intimidated.
"I don't give a shit about me!" I yelled back and waited for a response, but he only stared at me, not saying a word. It took me a second to realize what I said. It surprised me, but, looking back at everything, I knew it was true. I never did things to ensure my survival, only theirs. Always theirs.
"Sammee..." Steve started, but I didn't wait to hear what he was going to say as I turned and walked out of the conference room.
