Cold eyes stared back at me as I looked at the Winter Soldier.

"Do you remember me?" I asked him. He didn't say anything back.

He bent down and grabbed a rifle from one of the downed agents before standing back up and trying to walk past me. I reached out and put my hand on his shoulder to stop him.

"I can't let you stop Steve." I told him. The Soldier glanced sideways at me before knocking my arm off his shoulder and turned to fight me.

I teleported away from his first punch and pointed my gun at him from behind.

"James, stop!" I yelled. The Soldier spun and raised his weapon. I teleported as bullets flew past where I was standing.

I aimed at him and shot six times. The Soldier blocked every shot with his metal arm and advanced on me. I holstered my gun and took out two of my throwing knives. I threw one at him from where I was standing before teleporting behind him and throwing the second. The Soldier blocked the first one using his arm before turning and catching the second one out of thin air.

The Soldier threw the knife down and turned back to the launchpad. The Helicarrier was already up, so the Winter Soldier would have to take one of the quinjets. He was ignoring me and continuing with his mission.

I grumbled and took out another throwing knife, but not to throw. I teleported in front of the Soldier and, as soon as he saw the blue flash, he acted. We dodged and twisted around each other like a well choreographed dance. We knew each other's fighting styles too well.

I was trying not to hurt him, but if I accidentally did it wasn't the end of the world. He, on the other hand, had no objection about hurting me and that became very obvious when he punched my left side.

My body was thrown twenty feet into a bundle of pallets. I hit hard and bounced as I crumbled to the ground gasping and trying to stay conscious. The Winter Soldier stalked over to me and knelt over me. His flesh hand went around my throat and held me down. I couldn't teleport with the effort it took to stay conscious, so I opted to panic. I grabbed onto his wrist and tried to pry it from my neck, making desperate noises as I struggled.

The Winter Soldier pulled his metal arm back and aimed to punch me. I closed my eyes tightly as his fist came towards my face. I only opened them again when I heard the sound of concrete being crumpled. The Soldier punched the ground next to my head.

"Stay out of my way." He demanded before squeezing my throat and causing darkness to invade my vision.

I woke up to the sound of gunfire and explosions. I gasped in air and immediately coughed as the air burnt my throat. I looked up to see multiple quinjets on fire and one taking off, set for the helicarrier.

At the sight of the all too familiar scene, I suddenly couldn't catch my breath. My chest was constricting painfully and I couldn't get enough oxygen to think. I rolled to my hands and knees, but couldn't stand, I was shaking too badly. There was only one person I desperately wanted to comfort me. One person I needed to see...

"Loki..." I gasped out and touched the gem on my necklace. In an instant Loki appeared beside me and dropped to his knees next to me. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to him before standing and picking me up. I clung to him as he carried me somewhere safer.

"Shh, shh, darling. Tell me what happened." He cooed as he set me down between two pallets. He crouched beside me and summoned his daggers to his hands.

"I fucked up." I said as I finally cried. "I seriously fucked up. I should have never left him!" I said and wrapped my arms around myself.

"Who, Kitten?" Loki asked while checking our surroundings.

"Bucky!" I expressed. "Bucky! My plan worked. I-I got him to remember little by little, so it wasn't so- so overwhelming." I said quickly while still trying to gasp in air. "I did it Loki, I did it!" I told him. "But I fucked up and fucking Pierce got to him." I cried. "And, I tried- I tried to stop them from saying the words, but they just kept coming." I explained and grabbed my side as a harsh sob racked my body.

Loki looked at me and pulled me into his chest, kissing the top of my head as he did.

"It's alright ." He told me. "Everything will be alright. I need you to breath, Kitten." Loki pulled back and lifted my chin up to look at him. "Take a deep breath for me."

I tried. I really did, but I couldn't get my lungs to cooperate. Loki looked at me worriedly and dropped one of his blades to the ground. He placed his hand on my cheek and rubbed soothing circles into my skin.

"Look at me." Loki told me. "Look at me, Kitten."

I pulled my eyes to Loki's green ones as I continued to try and catch my breath. Loki licked his bottom lip and furrowed his brow before quickly leaning forward and kissing me. My brain short circuited until I finally closed my eyes. My panic slowly started to dissipate as my breathing steadied.

My lips moved with his as I forgot the world around me. God, I missed him. I missed everything about Loki and I was reminded just how much with one little kiss.

Loki pulled away with a sigh and leaned his forehead against mine. I opened my eyes and stared at his lips as he spoke.

"Better?" He asked.

"I-uhm- do it again... just to- just to make sure." I stuttered softly. Loki's lips pulled into a smiled and be closed the gap again. It was quick, but I enjoyed it all the same.

"We can continue this later." Loki told me and pulled back. "Now tell me about Bucky. What happened?"

"They said the trigger words and triggered the Winter Soldier." I explained.

"Ok, so all we have to do is break that wall again. It's already fragile, shouldn't take too much." Loki told me.

"I don't think it's that easy." I shook my head. "In one of the movies the only way to snap him out of it was by knocking him unconscious."

"Then let's do just that." Loki said. I looked up at Loki like he said the most idiotic thing in the world.

"He's not going to let us get that close. And on top of that we need to stop the launch." I told him. "The Winter Soldier is ruthless. He goes after his target and kills anyone who gets in his-" I cut myself off as something occurred to me. I stood quickly and walked over to where the Soldier punched a small crater into the ground. Loki got up with me and followed.

"What?" He asked.

"He didn't kill me." I mumbled while deep in thought.

"What?" Loki asked again in confusion and stepped closer to me.

"He didn't kill me." I said louder and turned to face Loki. "The Winter Soldier is a mindless drone that follows orders to a T. He knew that I would get in the way of those orders, but he still didn't kill me." I expressed with a smile. "I found a crack."
