《Muddy Green Waters || Draco Malfoy》34 - Good and Evil

"I didn't mean it to happen," Harry's voice echoed in the cold, watery space. "I didn't know what that spell did."
Snape had returned from the hospital wing and Harry had started muttering his excuses. I kept my eyes firmly on the floor, refusing to even look at him.
"Apparently I underestimated you, Potter," Snape spoke quietly. "Who would have thought you knew such Dark magic? Who taught you that spell?"
"I - read about it somewhere."
"Where?"
"It was - a library book," Harry spoke wildly. It was so obvious he was lying. "I can't remember what it was call-"
"Liar." It seemed Snape agreed with me. His eyes penetrated into Harry's and I wondered what on earth he was doing.
"Bring me your school bag," Snape ordered to Harry, "and all of your school books. All of them. Bring them to me here. Now!"
Harry turned at once and splashed out of the bathroom.
Snape turned his attention to me. "And what, dare I ask, Miss Carter, was your involvement in all of this?"
I forced myself to look up at Snape, staring into his cold black eyes.
"I was just passing, Sir, when I heard a commotion. D-Draco was on the floor." I stuttered as the image of his blood soaked body swam before my eyes. "Is he going to be OK?" I added quietly, fearfully.
Snape stared beadily at me, as if contemplating his answer.
"Mr Malfoy will be fine, if not a little shaken." He paused, taking a breath. "Miss Carter, it seems to me that you are a little overly invested in Draco's wellbeing."
My heart hammered and I tried to keep my voice steady. "I would have been concerned for anyone bleeding to death like that."

"That may well be, but in these uncertain times, we have to remember where our loyalties lie, and Draco's loyalty will always remain with his family." He took a step closer to me, lowing his voice. "Do you understand what I am saying, Miss Carter?"
Mutely, I nodded. He really couldn't be clearer. Just like Harry had been.
Sensing I was dismissed, I turned on my heel and left the bathroom. I didn't want to still be here when Harry returned so I walked as quickly as I could, up the corridor and I kept going till I was outside in the castle grounds. I stopped, taking in great gulps of air, leaning on the castle wall for support. I looked down and realised that my clothes were soaked in Draco's blood, my white blouse now very much resembling Draco's blood soaked shirt. I was shivering despite the heat of the morning sun.
"God, Rosie! Are you OK? What's happened to you?"
I looked up as Neville approached me, his hand reaching for my shoulder.
I couldn't make my mouth move to speak. I just shuddered, wiping tears furiously from my face.
"Here, lets get you to the hospital wing." Neville said, gently coaxing me back into the castle, his arm around me.
"No- WAIT- I mean yes, take me to the hospital wing." Draco. I needed to see Draco.
Neville tried to come in with me when we arrived at the hospital wing but I insisted I was ok going in by myself. He reluctantly left and I stepped in, looking around frantically. But Madam Pomfrey came bustling up to me out of nowhere, obscuring my view of the beds.
"Dear Merlin- not another one!" She caterwauled, ushering me immediately over to an empty bed.

"I'm OK - really. It's not my blood." I explained trying to stop her from forcing me down onto the bed.
"You're in shock dear. At least sit down while I go get you some chocolate."
I sighed, perching on the edge of the bed as she floundered over to her office.
"Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes."
I spun around at the familiar drawling voice - and there, lying on a bed on the far side of the wing was Draco. He looked even more pale and ill than usual, as he gave me weak smile.
I jumped up, rushing to his side. Tears sprang to my eyes as I took in his poor, torn body.
"What has he done to you?" I whispered, my voice quivering.
Although Snape had fixed the slashes - scars ran all up and down his bare chest and face.
"Hey, don't cry, Rosie." He sat up, placing his hand on my cheek, wiping a tear away with his thumb. I brought my hand up to his, clasping it to me, welcoming the feel of his touch.
"I was so scared, I thought you were going to die."
"I'm OK, Rosie, I promise you." He croaked, his grey eyes twinkled as he smiled reassuringly at me.
His hand quickly dropped from my face as Madam Pomfrey approached us.
"Mr Malfoy needs rest! No visitors!" She barked, grabbing my arm and hauling me over to an empty bed on the opposite side of the empty wing.
She tried to get me to eat some chocolate but I refused, claiming I was OK. After checking me over once more, satisfied that the blood wasn't mine, I was practically pushed out without getting the chance to say goodbye to Draco.
I was just wondering what sort of trouble Harry had got into with Snape when I saw him through the window striding along outside, laughing at something with Ron and Hermione as if he hadn't a care in the world.
My blood boiled. I tore through the castle, running down the stairways two steps at a time, and burst out into the grounds.
"HARRY!" I screamed, not caring what attention I drew to myself.
They had reached the greenhouses by the time they turned and saw me running towards them, red faced and furious.
"YOU COULD HAVE KILLED HIM, YOU BASTARD!"
Harry looked flabbergasted as I came storming right up to him, my fists flying as I landed them repeatedly onto his chest.
"Rosie, I-"
"WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST LEAVE HIM ALONE?!"
Harry tried grabbing at my flailing fists as Ron and Hermione tried to seize me from behind.
"Rosie - stop!" I heard Hermione crying.
Ron finally managed to successfully restrain me and pull me away from Harry. Tears were now pouring down my face as Ron held my arms back tightly.
"You have no idea, Harry. You never do." I choked out between sobs. "Everything is just good or evil to you. But the world isn't like that. You will never understand."
"That's not true, Rosie." Harry said quietly, shaking his head sadly.
"Rosie," Hermione said tentatively. "Let's get you back inside, shall we?" She placed her hand gently on my arm.
I realised I must have looked a complete state. Blood stained clothes, soaking wet from head to toe and puffy red eyes from my tears.
Giving Harry one last glare, I let Hermione lead me back inside the castle.

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
