《Muddy Green Waters || Draco Malfoy》2 - A Slytherin Welcome

I shakily made my way over to the Slytherin table, my heart thumping so hard in my chest. There was murmuring all around me and I felt hundreds of eyes follow me as I walked towards my fate.

"But she's a muggle-born!"

"What about her blood?!"

"I don't think this has ever happened before!"

My face felt red hot by the time I reached the Slytherins and grew even hotter as my attempted smile was greeted with glares. I suddenly wanted to turn around and run, run right out of this hall, out of the castle and all the way home. It took me everything to sit down on an empty chair, making sure it was as far away from the rest of the seated Slytherins as possible.

However, I would soon be joined by the rest of the first year Slytherins, whoever they will be.

I watched with a sinking heart as Hermione and then Neville got sorted and greeted with cheers into Gryffindor. How I envied them. I swallowed down a huge lump in my throat, trying to ignore the prickling at the back of my eyes and turned my attention back to the sorting.

"Malfoy, Draco!"

A blonde boy with a pale, pointed face swaggered towards the stool. The hat had barely touched his head when it yelled "SLYTHERIN!"

He walked smugly towards our table and sat straight down, a little further across from me, in between two large first year boys who greeted him with cheers and a pat on the back. My god he looked pleased with himself. He really did look like he belonged here at this table.

Not like me.

The next bit of excitement was when Harry Potter got called. Everyone whispered and craned their necks to see where he would end up.

I heard Draco Malfoy snort when the Gryffindors cheered with excitement, yelling 'We got Potter! We got Potter!'.

After the sorting finally finished, food appeared magically at the tables. I wanted to eat so badly but didn't think I'd be able to keep anything down - I was still getting glares from my fellow diners.

The girl to the left of me suddenly turned towards me and spat, "Is it true?"

I looked up at her mean looking pug like face and nervously asked, "Is what true?"

"Rumour has it that you are a muggle. Please tell me it isn't true?"

I gulped, looking down at my hands which I was nervously wringing on my lap. I could feel her glare on me, waiting for an answer.

"My parents are not wizards if that's what you mean. But I-I got the letter. I'm a-a w-witch." I cursed myself inwardly as I stammered.

"I'm a-a w-witch!" Pansy mimicked in a shrill mocking tone. The others around us sniggered; they had all stopped their talking to listen to this humiliating exchange.

"The poxy hat must have made a mistake." She hissed. "Slytherin doesn't allow your sort into our house. You belong in Hufflepuff you pathetic excuse of a being."

And with that, she turned her attention back to the girl on her other side, whilst I sat, trying not to burst into tears.

"A filthy mudblood?!"

I glanced up to see who had muttered this strange ugly sounding word and my eyes met a pair of cold grey ones. A look of disgust.

This is outrageous! Wait until my father hears about this!
