As soon as you saw your mother, you stopped functioning.
You couldn't believe your own eyes. Your mom who saw you after a decade couldn't help but shed tears instantly as soon as she saw your figure.
She slowly stood up, not knowing if she had the right to embrace you after leaving you.
"Y-y/n... My baby." her voice cracked while she tried to muffle her cries with her hands on her mouth.
You were emotionless, your eyes seemed to see what was going on in front of you and your ears heard her words but you simply couldn't move.
"I-i am s-so sorry baby, I am so ashamed to come in front of you.. I feel like I've failed as a mother.. I shouldn't have left you.." your mom started to bawl her eyes out, not caring how pitiful she looked in front of her doughter.
"I already endured a lot with your father.. and when that thing happened.. it felt like another blow to my head.. I couldn't take it.." you were registering her words slowly in your head while you were still rooted in your place.
"I was hurt and I only thought about my pain.. I became selfish and I forgot that there was a being who I had to look after.. who I had to protect.. who I had to t-trust.." the lost word moved something inside you.
Trust....
the one thing you expected from your loved ones who failed to give it to you when the time come.
"When chim contacted me and told me what really happened, I felt that I didn't deserve to be called your mother.. how did I become so selfish that I abandoned the child I gave birth to? I wasn't any different than your father who left us on the street.. at the end, I did the exact same thing to you..." her cries were increasing as each word was let out.

"I don't have the right to say this but p-please forgive your E-comma.. I'm very bad, I know.. but I can't live another minute without your forgiveness.. if you want, you can slap me, hit me! But please forgive E-omma-.." she begged while she was standing in front of you with her hands carefully cupping your cheeks.
You never blamed your mother for her action, You felt hurt but you didn't resent her.
How could you get angry at her?
Life with your father was hard and with the judgmental society, it was much harder.
She became selfish and didn't think about you once before leaving you but she didn't leave you alone before going.
She asked her friend for help before vanishing.
If it wasn't for her friend, you wouldn't have had a second chance at this life so somehow your mother enabled this.
When her hands were shoking and her eyes were hesitating to make the next step, you slightly opened your arms.
Your mother instantly latched herself onto you while she was repeatedly apologising to you.
The art of letting go.
As your therapist said, you couldn't be tied down onto your post.
You couldn't hurt someone because you got hurt by them. You couldn't let their actions define you.
You didn't forgive her because she was your mother or because she asked for forgiveness after finding out your truth.
Not even because she was in pain. You forgave her because you deserved peace.
