《Why She Jumped | ✔️》Chapter Thirteen // Hannah

Her mother yanked the hairbrush through her blond, tangled hair. "You're going to grow up to be more than perfect, Hannah," her mother said. She was yanking the brush all too hard, causing her daughters eyes to well up with tears, but Hannah didn't dare speak.

"You aren't going to grow up to be a disappointment the way your sister did; otherwise you'll be out of the house at 15 just like her." She slammed the brush down onto the vanity, causing Hannah to jump.

"If you want something, Hannah, you're going to need to do all you can to get it. And if you don't have the morons around you worshipping you like a god, you'll have failed."

Hannah didn't understand. She didn't understand why she needed to be so perfect or why her mother despised her sister so much.

But at five years old, it was no surprise that she was unaware of what happened to her sister.

Trinity got pregnant at 15 by a guy she hardly knew. She was carefree; wanted to live life to its fullest. She disobeyed her mother and father on countless occasions, choosing to hook up with Conner Andrews instead of impressing her mothers stuck up sister.

Her mother finally had enough and made her leave. Hannah, being only two at the time, didn't remember. And she had no idea that her sister was found dead in a ditch a few hours away, after being raped and murdered.

Of course, she was never told. Her mother wanted a perfect daughter - one better than the last. And having a daughter who was constantly in fear of being raped and murdered like her sister did not suffice.

Hannah stood in front of the bathroom mirror. Her hair was combed; neatly flowing down her back. She stood in her denim shorts and bra, staring at her body in the mirror.

Her eyes were instantly drawn to her stomach. Too big, she thought. I can't disappoint mom. I need to be better than perfect.

She skipped lunch. And then dinner. And her mother soon realized what was going on, but instead of finding her daughter help, she praised her for doing her best to look like a model.

Hannah soon overcame her eating disorder, at 14, because she knew that skipping meals wouldn't help with the size of her butt and chest.

She stared in disgust at Amber Fields. Her mother would be so, so disappointed. She's far from perfect... she doesn't even try. Hannah judged and judged and judged until the bell rang, pulling her out of her thoughts.

"Get the fuck out of my way," she said to a ninth grader, chatting in front of the classroom door with her friend. The girl scurried away within seconds.

At the end of the day, Hannah noticed Amber sitting alone in a bench outside. "Hey there, bitch." Amber turned around abruptly. "Um..." Amber didn't know how to react, having never spoken to this so called 'popular girl' in her life.

"Do me a favour and stop wasting space. This world is meant for girls like me, not ugly little things like you. You know, there is a nearby cliff you could jump off. Want directions?" Hannah smirked.

She was numb. So numb. So used to needing to be better than everyone else... and what better way to do that than make others feel powerless?

Her mother would be proud.

Her mother shouldn't be proud.

Grayson was sad. Amber knew of a way to cheer him up, but he was somehow heartbroken over Amber.

It was her decision, anyways. It's probably for the best, Hannah thought. She's dead - so what? There are plenty of fish in the sea.

She opened Facebook, writing, "RIP Amber Feeds." Of course that wasn't her actual last name, but Hannah couldn't care less. After all, she needs to remind others that she is superior to them, and that a death isn't going to turn her into a depressed little softy.

Her mother was proud enough, and that was all that mattered.

To Hannah, Hannah was all that mattered.
