I wanted to so badly tell my name, because this guy looked like he was a good one but I could trust nobody. Before I could even give any respond, a familiar car honked in front of the bus stop, slowing down in front of both me and the Calum guy.
The window was rolled down and Luke's defended face was looking at both of us, back and forth. He hopped off from his car and stepped up in front of Calum. For a second, I thought he was going to defend me and punch that guy or threaten him to stay away from me.
Instead, he fist bumped that guy, both of them chuckling and bro hugging each other. They patted each other's back and Luke pushed Calum's shoulder playfully. I stood there dumbfounded watching them.
Luke's chuckle died when he looked over to me and smiled sadly. "I'm sorry for being a jerk," he scratched his head out of uncomfortableness and Calum looked at me curiously.
"You know her?" Calum inquired suspiciously and Luke nodded slightly, then turned to raise an eyebrow at Calum and asked the same.
"And you know her?" Luke asked, squinting his blue eyes deeply at Calum. The way he inquired Calum showed jealousy and that startled me the most. He kept acting weird when it comes to me and the opposite gender of mine.
Calum laughed carelessly, raising both his arms to surrender. "She doesn't look like she wants to know me."
Luke breathed out and turned to me, "I'll bring you to the hospital." He smiled which turned into a sad frown and walked back into his car. Calum stopped him from walking away.
"Which hospital?" Calum asked, looking at both of us. It was kind of annoying me how this Calum guy wanted to know everything out of curiousness and Luke didn't seem to be having a problem with it was killing me. Maybe, they were best friends? Luke didn't explain anything to me.

"Saint-Louis Hospital," we both answered in unison.
Calum widened his eyes. "Can you bring me there as well?"
"Why?" Luke asked immediately, raising an eyebrow to Calum.
"Because I have a friend who got shot and is admitted in the same hospital."
And I knew he was talking about Michael.

The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.
