Testing Fate

Part 35

*Selena’s POV*

“Selena maybe you should-” Justin said as I walked around the granite counter island in Justin’s kitchen while I looked for something to satisfy my hunger.

“No Justin. They crossed the line,” I huffed throwing open a white wooden cabinet, hoping he had some chips around here.

“Then why did you draw one?” he asked, taking me by surprise.

I spun around to look at him while leaning back on the counter for support. “Why are you defending them? They aren’t upset that I’m pregnant and engaged. They are upset that it’s with you.”

“They have a point,” he said lowering his head.

“No they don’t. That is in the past. We have both changed. We are in love and they need to get over that. Until then, I don’t need them in my life,” I said sternly turning back around to grab an unopened bag of Rold Gold pretzels.

“Okay, if you are really sure about this then I support you,” he said finally giving in. I had at admit that was very smart of him see that with my hormones I practically win every fight.

“Thank you,” I sighed. “Can we just go to the doctor appointment now?”

Justin came around wrapping his arms around my waist as he placed kisses all over my face before finally kissing my lips, which actually did calm me down. “One question before we go,” he whispered.

“Go ahead,” I said.

“Are we going to find out the genders?”

“Do you want to?”

“I would really like to,” he nodded slightly placing his forehead against mine.

“Then we will,” I kissed him before pulling away and walking towards the garage with the pretzels in hand.

I sat in the car silently chewing on my pretzel as I watched the different heights and colors of building pass by in a blur.

“Justin,” I said turning slightly in my seat to face him.

“Yes dear?” he asked taking a quick glance at me before refocusing his eyes on the road ahead.

“What if we aren’t ready for a baby? Let alone two,” I asked munching on my snack nervously.

Justin looked at me before pulling over on the road giving his full attention to me. “Why would you ask that Selena?” he asked confusion written all over his face.

“Let me rephrase that: What I’m not ready? What if I’m not a good mother? I don’t really know a lot about babies. What do I do if they get sick? What if I drop one? What if they don’t like me?” I started to panic as my breathing began to hitch quickly.

“Selena, calm down,” Justin soothed, running his hand across my face.

“There a lot that goes into this. I’m just not prepared. Maybe we should give the babies to James and Leigh.”

“Hey, don’t talk like that. You have me. You’re not on your own. We are in this together. We will figure it out together. Soon or later we were going to have to do it so why wait. We are plenty old enough. Not to mention we have our parents to fall back on. So you may think that we don’t know what we are doing and that true but no one knows what they are doing at first. It’s part of growing up,” Justin explained softly followed by a kiss to bring my breathing levels back to normal.

*Justin’s POV*

“The doctor will be in shortly,” the nurse said folding up the blood pressure gauge as she walked out the door with a smile on her face.

“I called for security to escort us out when we get done here,” I noted walking around the typical white doctor room, dragging my hand along all the utensils.

“Why?” she asked adjusting her shirt which kept riding up due to her rapidly growing stomach.

“Well, Scooter called me to warn me that the paparazzi found out about the appointment, so they will all be waiting to get the first official picture of you pregnant. Also, I’m sure they are going to be trying to get information that they have no business knowing,” I stated matter of factually as I made my way back to the bed where Selena was.

“Justin?” she said catching my attention.

“I love you,” she said with the most adorable smile.

“I love you,” I smiled back. “All three of you.”

Just then there was a knock on the door breaking us out of our own little world and back into the harsh reality.

“Ms. Gomez, Mr. Bieber,” Dr. Stanley greeted us. “Is everything going okay?”

“Very well,” Selena nodded looking at me for approval as I held her hand, rubbing soft circles.

“Are you planning on finding out the gender?” Dr. Stanley asked getting all the gear ready to look our own little angels.

“Yes,” I smiled proud as Selena squeezed my hand softly.

“Okay this may take a minute, depending on what positions the twins are in,” he said moving the ward in the gel on Selena’s stomach.

“Baby one seems to be…” he said looking at the screen a little closer, “girl.”

A smile danced on my face as I looked to see Selena mirroring my reaction.

“Baby two is also a girl,” he finished pulling the wand off Selena’s stomach wiping it down. “Two identical twin girls,” he smiled. “I’ll go get some photos printed off for you, and we can discuss any questions you have after,” he smiled before standing up and walking out.

“Our little princesses,” I whispered.

“I just wish Brayden was here to see this,” Selena said.

“He’s here. He’s always here.”
