Testing Fate
Part 27
*Selena’s POV*
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay while I go out for a bit?” I asked Justin as I threw everything I needed in my purse.
“Yes Selena,” he groaned playfully.
“I’m just checking. I want you to call you mother too, and tell her I said hi and that we need to catch up some time, okay?” I asked kissing him with a smile. “I love you. Be good.”
“Yes Ma’am,” he said saluting me. “I love you baby. Have fun.”
As soon as I jumped in my Ford, I used my blutooth to call Leigh.
“Hello?” she asked.
“Hey, it’s me. I’m on my way over. Do you have the stuff?” I asked her. A smile fell onto my face as it reminding me of a drug sell.
“Yeah, I got it,” she said and I could just tell she was super happy, but at the same time. I didn’t want to get her hopes up.
“Okay, I’ll be there in a minute,” I said crossing my fingers, hoping that this time it would turn out right.
Once I arrived at the familiar house, it was as if I could feel Brayden. He was all around me. For the first time since his death, I actually felt like he was with me.
Slowly I walked to the door, and at the same time James opened up with a smile.
“If you don’t mind me asking, why haven’t you moved?” I asked once I settled in the living room where I could practically see Brayden playing with his train set on the floor around the coffee table. I could hear his laughter filling the air.
“It may seem silly, but we both felt like if we moved into another house, we would be leaving Bray behind. We also never want to forget him, not that we will but this house is a constant reminder, you know? Of the good memories, the one’s where Justin and Brayden are building a Lego tower, and you walk by you happen to step on one and Brayden looks at you with his big eyes and tell you sorry, you can’t be mad at him,” he said with a smile as he thought back to the memory with tears threating to pour out of his eyes. He sniffled before regaining composer and letting a smile fall on his face. “We just could bring ourselves to do that.”

I nodded, lowering my head as I tried hard not to cry myself.
“I think Leigh’s waiting for you in the bathroom upstairs,” James said after a minute.
I nodded, quickly wiping a tear that fell.
I hurried up the stairs in the house that I knew just as well as mine, since I spent so much time here when Brayden was able to come home from the hospital. Justin and I would practically sleep here so we could spend as much time with him as possible.
“You ready?” she asked after the 5 minutes waiting for the pregnancy test.
I nodded looking down at the stick, inhaling a sharp breath.
*Justin’s POV*
“Dude just one more,” Khalil said, trying to hand me another can of spray paint as Milk, Khalil and I stood on the side of Milk’s house making more art on his wall.
“You know that one could take hours. I have a girl to get to at home,” I said looking at the gold watch on my wrist. “She should actually be there any minute.”
“Fine,” he huffed setting the can down up against the wall. “We on for tomorrow?”
“I don’t know about tomorrow but with weekend for sure. Maybe we can do a live stream for the fans or something,” I said shrugging my shoulder as I picked up my car keys and readjusted my hat on my head.
“Sounds good man,” Milk said as we did out hand shake.
“See you soon!” I yelled out as I went inside the house out the door where my car was parked, front and center.
I jumped in my car and hurried home trying my best to beat Selena home.
As I pulled up to the house I noticed Selena’s car parked in its normal spot. I kicked myself as I locked my car as walked inside knowing she got there probably way before me.

“Baby?” I called out throwing my keys on the table. “Sorry I wasn’t here when you got there. I was out with the boy.”
I walked over to the living room to see Selena sitting there staring at a black TV screen.
“Selena? Are you mad at me?” I asked hoping she wasn’t mad that I wasn’t here when she got here.
“I’m not mad,” she said turning her head to me. “Can we talk?”
I swallowed hard taking a seat in the closest chair to me. Please don’t let this be what I think it is, I kept repeating over and over inside my head as I tried my hardest to focus on what she was saying.
“Justin, look. These last few months with you have been really great,” she said looking down at her hands which were folded in her lap. “And there’s really no easy way to say this but-”
“Please Sel?” I whispered cutting her off, knowing I wouldn’t be able to take the words that were about to come out of her mouth. “I-I can change okay? I can be a better boyfriend.”
“Justin, what are you talking about? You’re the best boyfriend,” she said looking at me with soft eyes.
“Then why are you breaking up with me? What did I do wrong?” I pleaded.
“Breaking up with you? Oh no. No. No. No, no. Justin, I’m pregnant,” she whispered.
“Pregnant?” I asked making sure I heard it right.
“Look, I know you said you didn’t want a baby, so I was thinking maybe we could give this one to James and Leigh. So they can have a healthy baby. I heard they have been trying to adopt again,” she said in a rush.
I stood up walking over to her and taking her hands in mine, forcing her to look at me.
“I can honestly say, a few weeks ago if you were to have told me this, I would have been upset, but I mean we did have sex and it was bound to happen. I just wish it would have been a little later. But I do believe we had a deal. Since you got pregnant, now we have to get married. That’s what we agreed too,” I said using this to my advantage and trying to make the best positive possible out of it.
