《The Retribution of the Ice Cold Maiden》14-Would a respected Teacher do this to a student?

"Hmm? Did you hear something?" A young maid cleaning the ground floor's main hall asked a young butler who was polishing the metal showpieces.
"Petra, why are you changing the subject? I asked you why you keep rejecting me." the young Butler asked the maid Petra.
"I already told you, Saul. It's because you are not rich enough for me." Maid Petra replied with a casual face, not caring for the young man's breaking heart.
"You... Cough... I hate to break it to you, but with your personality, I am the best person you can get married to." Saul replied with a small cough to control his inner pain.
"What a nice way to woo a lady." Petra replied with a slightly annoyed face.
"I am serious, sure, you look nice, but you demand too much from your partner." Saul replied.
"Oh come on, no I don't."
"Really? Then why did you ask me to take you to the Flower Star Restaurant? That place is so fancy that we cannot even afford the water they serve there." Saul replied with a frustrated face.
"Humph...!! It is saying things like these that I don't want to---"
THUD...!!! CRASH...!!
"ARRGGHHH...!!!"
A loud noise suddenly came from the upper floor. The two employees were immediately alarmed and looked up. What they saw made them leap from shock.
They saw the Teacher, known as Claire Walker, knocked against the railing of the first floor, and blood flowed profusely from her head.
"T-Teacher Walker?!" The maid dropped her broom in fright. Life in Evergreen Kingdom was more stable and peaceful than other countries, especially in the Capital. Even the commoners enjoyed a Life of safety and many of them rarely saw bloodshed, let alone this much. So it is understandable why they would panic at the grim situation before them.
"G-Go help her...!!" She cried out to Saul who was frozen in place.
"Ah?! Y-Yes...!!" Her shriek woke him up and he immediately took action, but before he could climb the stairs, he heard a cold voice which froze him back.
"What... is his name?"
Teacher Walker stood up with the support of the railing but her legs were still shivering and her voice distraught from the pain that assaulted her head.
"M-My lady...!! Please stop...!! I really don't know what you are---- Arghhh....!!" Before she could finish. The Fireplace Poker hit her squarely on her face and she stumbled back over the railing and... WHACK....!!
She felt right in front of the Maid Petra.
"Kyaa....!!" Maid Petra squealed in fright as she ran away.
The Scream jolted Teacher Walker awake but she could only struggle in pain as the fall almost broke a couple of bones on impact. She heaved heavily as she called for help.
Butler Saul was truly frightened by the turn of events. He turned to look at Selena only to see her nonchalant face looking at the fallen Teacher and then walked back in her room and shut the doors behind her.
"T-This... Master...!! Master Marquis...!!" The Butler swiftly ran to find the Marquis since he knew he was way too low-level to handle this kind of situation.
*Five minutes later*
The Marquis made his way into the main hall with sweat on his forehead. When the Butler told him what he saw, the first thing he did was slap the butler. But surprisingly, even with a swollen cheek, he repeated the same thing which suggested he wasn't lying.
When he reached the hall, he saw the Teacher still on the ground being held in a sitting position by some maids while another was bandaging her. If not for her constant shrieks of angry profanities and pain, one would think she was already a corpse.

"See, I told you...!!" The swollen face butler Saul cried out in pain as he felt wronged. However, he was responded with another slap to the face.
"Why didn't you call for me earlier...?!" The Marquis bellowed. Butler Saul felt like crying. 'Is this genetics? First, the young lady hit her teacher, and now you are bashing me for doing my job? I wanna quit...!!'
The Marquis approached Teacher Walker. By now, he was really distressed. Hearing the noise, Nicholas also came to check on the situation. Alongside him was an old man who exhumed a fierce aura. It was Teacher Ren, who taught Nicholas. If only the manor's staff was present, he could have contained the situation, but with Teacher Ren here, it complicated things.
Teacher Ren was an upright and strict person who was specially hired to teach Nicholas considering his arrogant and willful nature. If the truth comes out, Teacher Ren would definitely report about this to the Teacher Guild and the Marquis would have to prepare for a huge backlash.
"Teacher Walker? What happened to you? You look like you lost a wrestling match with a bull." Teacher Ren asked Teacher Walker after noticing her and her grave injuries and swiftly approached her.
"Teacher Walker, perhaps we can----" The Marquis tried to talk to Teacher Walker, hoping that she will keep quiet and agree to settle the matter between them privately.
But seeing Teacher Ren had given her a jolt of confidence. Since this happened inside the manor, the information could have been suppressed and she would have to agree whatever terms the Marquis put, but having Teacher Ren here would mean that he was a witness, and considering his nature, there is no way he would let this pass. So she decided to get even louder.
"BULL? A BULL WOULD HAVE BEEN PREFERABLE INSTEAD OF THAT DEMONESS...!!" Teacher Walker shrieked despite her injuries.
"What happened?" Teacher Ren asked in a grim tone.
"It's like this..." She proceeded to tell everything that happened. The thing was, she didn't need to lie, Selena did attack her without warning and ruthlessly beat her up with the Fireplace Poker.
As more details came out, Teacher Ren felt his blood boiling. Teaching was a respected profession. Without good teachers, there can't be experts. To beat your teacher was like beating your parents. It was one of the highest forms of disrespectful behavior, even by commoners standard.
"Marquis Booker...!! What is the meaning of this?!" Teacher Ren bellowed at the Marquis. His face was red with anger and he looked as if someone needed to turn off the stove beneath him.
"I-I... This is a huge misunderstanding... I think." The Marquis replied sheepishly. Honestly, he couldn't believe that his daughter would be this savage. But contrary to his opinion, the evidence lay before him. Selena had thrown a cup at Baron Turner's face when he taunted her. But he deserved it so all was well there. But this situation was different. Selena had physically assaulted her own teacher. It was even witnessed by a maid and a butler.
'What is this? Did she develop some weird hobby after having her engagement broken? Will there be more cases like this in the future? Should I just send her to join the army? At least she will be able to beat many people who deserve it. Did her rampaging nature originate from me? My Wife in heaven, please tell me.' Such thoughts raced through the Marquis's head as he tried to make sense of the situation before him.

While the current situation was unfolding, Nicholas stood by the side with a puzzled expression. He was one of the first people to feel Selena's wrath so he felt confused at the situation. Selena didn't hurt those who do not mean harm to her. His theory was confirmed just yesterday when a maid accidentally dropped a cup of tea on her dress. the Cup broke and the pieces had scattered everywhere. Not to mention, the Dress she was wearing was sprayed with the cupful of tea. But despite the Maid and Nicholas's assumption, Selena did not get angry. In fact, she helped the kneeling maid up and even called for another maid to bandage the maid's knees which got hurt when she kneeled on the floor with fright, begging for forgiveness.
'There is more to this...' Nicholas thought. Hanging around Selena had indeed sharpened his senses.
"A misunderstanding?" Teacher Ren asked furiously. "What part of this is a misunderstanding, Marquis? Please explain to me..."
"Th-This... I..." but before the Marquis could answer, a cold and calm voice came from the floor above, like a voice from Hell itself.
"When is Elder Miren's Birthday, Claire Walker?"
Everyone felt a chill run up their spine. Even Teacher Ren stiffened. Claire Walker visibly shuddered as the rest of the crowd lifted their head to the source of the voice.
They saw Selena Booker, the culprit in question, with a cold not caring expression on her face as she held on one hand, a bunch of papers and a bag which belonged to Claire Walker and on the other, the weapon that she used to beat her, the Fireplace Poker.
"It's over..." Marquis Booker thought. It was one thing to commit a crime, but to bring the evidence to the cops yourself? Her future lawyers are probably going to charge me a mountain to accept her as a client.
"G-Get her away from me...!!" Claire Walker tried to drag herself away from Selena, who was coming down the stairs, looking straight at her.
"Lady Selena...!! What's wrong with you...?!" Teacher Ren asked angrily as he stood between Selena and Claire.
He expected Selena to fly off the handle and attack, but contrary to his expectations, after Selena noticed him, she paused her approach and bowed slightly.
"Selena Booker pays her respect to Teacher Ren."
This surprised everyone, especially Teacher Ren. He had heard Selena call Teacher Walker as Claire Walker but she called him Teacher Ren. It did not take him long to understand that Selena did not consider Claire as a teacher which usually happens when a teacher fails their duty.
But his surprise was quickly drowned in his anger. Regardless of what issue she had, Teacher Walker was still a teacher under the authority of the Teacher's Guild. To beat Claire up was undermining the authority of the Teacher's Guild and he couldn't let it pass.
"Selena Booker, I will be sure to report this to the Teacher's Guild. I hope you are prepared to face the consequences..." Teacher Ren replied sternly to Selena.
"Let's leave..." he signaled Claire, ready to leave. However, the respectful voice of Selena towards him turned cold in an instant.
"She can't leave... She hasn't answered my questions yet."
"You...!!" Teacher Ren was furious. But before he could say anything, a small voice was heard.
"Teacher Ren...!! Please wait...!!" It was Nicholas who spoke out. He approached him and kneeled on the floor.
"What?" Teacher Ren was surprised by Nicholas's actions. He usually had to slap his hands with a ruler a few times just to make him open a book, but the same boy was now kneeling in front of him.
"Teacher Ren, I know this looks horrible. But please allow my sister to explain herself. I know there is a good reason behind it."
This stunned everyone present, except Selena. She was too angry to care for her surroundings. But Soul noticed it.
"This..." Teacher Ren was honestly bewildered. To see the arrogant Nicholas bow and plead for his sister was something he did not expect. The Marquis simply had his mouth open with his eyes bulging out at the sight. He was shocked by his son's behavior beyond words.
"This... Fine..." Teacher Ren stopped in his tracks and turned to Selena.
"Five minutes... Explain to me why you would assault a respected Teacher in five minutes."
"Explain to you? Why? Who are you to judge me?" Selena replied not even looking at Teacher Ren.
Before Teacher Ren could visibly explode, Nicholas got on his feet and quickly approached Selena.
"Sister, if Claire Walker has really wronged you then you should tell him everything. If what you say is true, not only will no one stop you from beating her up but they will also make sure to punish her further." Nicholas swiftly tipped to Selena. He could tell Selena was extremely angry at the moment, and she wouldn't care for any authority right now. The only way to appease her was to give her a favorable condition to her wishes.
"You...!!" Claire almost spit blood at that. Wasn't Nicholas supposed to stop her? But why did it feel as if he's digging a grave for Claire?
Selena was quiet for a long second and then, she finally closed her eyes and turned her head to Teacher Ren.
"You said Claire Walker is a respected Teacher, right?" she asked Teacher Ren without a hint of emotion.
"Of Course...!!" Teacher Ren replied furiously, "Don't think we don't know about your bad grades despite Teacher Walker's efforts. Even after failing the mock-exams so many times, she still taught you, and before you question Teacher Walker's competence, I will let you know that she has other students and they have good grades, unlike yours. So you tell me, is Claire Walker a respected Teacher or not?"
There was a long silence...
Suddenly, Teacher Ren saw a couple of papers flying towards him. He instinctively grabbed one. Before he could make sense of what was happening, Selena spoke up, breaking the silence.
"Would a respected Teacher do this to a student?" Selena asked as she pointed to the fallen papers.
With a questioning gaze, he turned his attention towards the paper in his hand. It was an arithmetic answer sheet. But the more he read through it, the more his eyes widened.
"Teacher Ren...?" The Marquis asked questioningly.
But Teacher Ren wasn't listening. He quickly grabbed the remaining papers from the floor and studied them as well. His eyes widening with every second passing.
"Th-This..." Teacher Ren was bewildered.
"Teacher Walker? What's going on here?" He asked Claire who was now visibly pale with fright.

Divine Creatures
Kestra, a [Combat Alchemist] and [Woods Wraith Hunter], is excited to finally receive her third class. But when she attempts to do so, she instead receives a tribulation from the God of Trials, loses her classes, and is informed by the voice of the world that she's been selected to transmigrate with only three days to go. She tries her damnedest to prepare, but even the Elements are different in this new realm. A relatively staid adjustment period is completely abandoned though as she finds that, most distressingly, hundreds of transmigrators have appeared recently with dozens enslaved by the local city lord. Fine! She may have lost her classes and the magic is funky, but she'll be damned if she doesn't have a few true-blue skills up her sleeves. [synopsis re-write by luda305] A light hearted romp where the protag transmigrator *isn't* from Earth. The main story takes place on more of a western xianxia world. Note: profanity tag is because of side characters, and sexual context tag is for some risqué elements before fade-to-black scene. Book 1 is written and scheduled for release a chapter a day till 9/26 (24 chapters total) Book 2 will be added after it is all written. Updated to add fanfic tag because when I picked up the latest Ten Realms I realized that series has had a lot more influence on the setting than I consciously realized. Don't expect military or industrial revolution in xianxia, though.
8 231The Unsorcerer
DISCLAIMER: The cover pic is not my original work. Credits goes to the Illustrator. This is a story of a man named Cipher, a 21st Century man reincarnated in a world where magic is the way of life. In the continent of Iarica, the people of this land are able to wield the crystals or magic stones for whatever purpose they desire. These people are called "Sorcerers", blessed individuals who are favored by the Gods and gifted with an ability to manipulate "Mana", the energy of the World and the energy source that makes all of the machines run. Cipher in contrast, is not. He is an "Unsorcerer", a person unable to wield the crystals and mana and eventually magic itself. Because of this "defect", he is shunned, ridiculed, and abused by most people and eventually by the whole society. Little did Iarica and her denizens know, this so-called reject of society is more than what he seems... Note: This humble Author-san is not a native English speaker, so there will be grammatical errors. Also the chapters are short, about 1K words. However I will try my best efforts on reaching the 2k-4k words threshold. Another note is that this will be a Harem fic, so to anyone who are not fan of the genre this may not be your cup of tea. Any criticsm are welcome as long it can help me to improve my writing skills since I'm just a newcomer in this scene.
