《Bad Intentions》Seven

All I could do was watch as she walked away. She's feisty and I like that. It makes this game all the more fun.

To tease her.

To make her blush.

To see her fall head over heels.

To then eventually break her heart.

I am heartbreaker, a player, a bad boy. Whatever title you want to give me I'll take. I have never been ashamed of my titles, why start now?

This game is a source of entertainment. Something to pass the time. I liked seeing that I was able to get under her skin, make her toss her good girl image away and bring out that fiery attitude even if it was just for a moment.

Leah was different. Different from all the other girls around here. She didn't throw herself at me, instead of looking at me with eyes of lust as others would she looked at me with annoyance. Instead of following me like some would, she would walk right passed me and pay no mind.

And I was intrigued to say the least.

"Who is that?" I heard a voice said from behind.

I glanced back to see my two best friends, Ian and Luke. They were holding red plastic cups which I'm sure was filled with alcohol.

Ian handed me one of the red cups, my eyes still trained on Leah. I took a sip of the liquid, burning on its way down. Vodka.

"Just someone." I said vaguely. Leah was talking with the dark blonde girl from earlier. She was laughing at something the girl said. She toss her curled dark locks over shoulder as if it was in the way.

As if she felt my gaze on her, she looked up to my direction. She arched her brow, curiosity filled her brown eyes.

I took another sip of my drink as my eyes pierce into hers. She looked away and focused her attention back to her friend. I could tell she was a bit uneasy from the attention.

"Well, whoever she is, she damn hot." Ian spoke his eyes traveling towards her.

I felt a pang of an unknown emotion within me. I brushed it off as fast as it came. She did clean up well. Her outfit complimented her figure. It was simple and suited her well.

I cut my gaze away from her, focusing my attention to my friends.

"What are we doing standing here? Let's have some fun." I said my eyes landing a group of girls who were shooting flirtatious smiles towards us.

"I'm down." Luke said following my lead towards the group.

Leah is a challenge.

A challenge I'm willing to accept.

"Wanna tell me what's going on with you and Mr. Bad Boy?" Kayla asked. Her light brown eyes held interest.

I shrugged my shoulders. "Nothing." I told her simply as we stood near the blazing fire. Even though it is mid-September and the weather it still warm, it noticeably getting cooler at night. Which means Fall is just right around the corner.

"Bullshit." Kayla retorted. "You've never talked to Jace before. So what changed?"

Should I tell Kayla what's going on?

She is my best friend.

Eventually, she will find out and if I'm not the one to tell her she will blow her top. She might even follow through with her long-standing threat of burning my movie collection, the one I have been collecting since middle school. The one that has a dedicated book case in my room.

Evil, I know.

"I promise I'll tell you later. When we're not in front of the whole senior class." I told her taking a gulp of my second beer. I was getting use to the taste and it wasn't half bad.

Kayla narrowed her eyes at me. "You better."

I rolled my eyes at her. I was surprised she let it go so easily.

"Now, come on. Let's have some fun!" She pulled my arm towards the opening of clearing. In the middle of opening were people dancing. There was a DJ off to the side blasting music through the speakers that were set around the area. There were white lights wrapped around the trees limbs and trunks that were around the perimeter. It gave the space a warm vibe.

"Now," She yelled over the music. "Let loose for once!" Kayla started moving her body to the beat of the music. I followed shortly after, allowing my body to sway to the beat of song.

It felt good to let go and feel free.

I looked up and allow my eyes to glance around the crowd and area. Almost instantly my eyes landed on Jace.

Why? Because he was directly in my line of vision.

Jace was sitting on one of the logs that were around the fire. He had a blonde girl in his lap. Her outfit couldn't be anymore revealing, a black skirt short enough to see her ass if she made on wrong move and red crop top that I'm sure was just there to cover her bra.

His hand rested on her thigh. Her fingers ran along his chest. Well, they look comfortable.

As if Jace felt my gaze on him, he looked up and directly at me. A devious smirk filled his lips. He then pulled the girl closer towards him. He leaned in and whispered something to her.

Whatever he said, the girl liked it as she was red as her top.

I shook my head and turned my back towards the couple. If Jace thought that was going to make me jealous, he was dead wrong.

Kayla and I danced for a few more songs, until my throat was drier than the Sahara Desert. I need a drink.

I left Kayla dancing with some guy she met on the dance floor. I wasn't gonna ruin her fun. I shot her a look that said 'Get it, girl' right before I left which caused her to roll her eyes.

I walked over to one of coolers and reach down grabbing a bottle of water. I cracked open the seal and downed half the bottle in one gulp.

Yes, I know I'm thirsty. Not that kind of thirsty.

Just as I was about to finished the bottle, I heard my name being called.

"Leah." A deep voice spoke.

I turned around to see who it was and came face to face with Nate.

My eyes widen at the sight of him. He has been avoiding me for the past few days and now he was standing in front of me.

And he looked good.

His light brown hair was slightly messy as if he ran his hand through it numerous times. He was dressed in a black T-shirt that stretch across his chest showing the muscles he gained over the years and a pair of dark jeans where his hands were stuffed in the front pockets. But the one thing that caught me was the look in his eyes.

His piercing dark blue eyes were darker then usual. The blue pools swirled with determination within them.

"Nate." I said curtly turning my attention back to my water.

Nate let a sigh out. "You're upset."

I narrowed my eyes. "Why would I be upset? You've only been ignoring me for the past few days. Acting like I don't exist." There was anger in my tone.

I know. I seem like I'm playing the fence right now. Just because I want to show Nate that I have moved on from him, doesn't mean I don't want him as my friend.

"I know." He said running a hand down his face. "I have a reason for that."

"Care to explain?" I insisted.

"Leah, I-" Nate started and then stopped abruptly.

I felt an arm sling across my shoulders and pulled into the side of something hard.

I looked up to see Jace. A smirk filled his lips, his eyes trained directly towards Nate. Is smirking the only thing he can do? Not the time, Leah.

I looked over to Nate and I see fury in his eyes as he met Jace's eyes. It seemed like they were challenging one another with just a look.

"Sorry babe, I didn't mean to leave you alone like that." Jace said cutting his gaze down to me stopping his battle with Nate. Wait, babe?

Jace's eyes held amusement when he saw my reaction to his pet name.

Just as I was about to respond, I was ripped away from Jace's embrace. "Why the hell are you always interrupting Leah and I?" Nate spoke, his voice laced with anger. "Why don't you go talk to your groupies like you normally do?

I looked over to Jace to see his once smirking face set into firmly cold hard expression. His darken hazel eyes narrowed towards my arm which Nate was holding. His burning gaze cause the hairs on my skin to stand.

"I can talk to who the fuck I want too." He said eerily calm. "And whenever the fuck I want too."

Jace took a step forward coming face to face with Nate. Nate released my arm, which I was thankful for.

The amount of anger and dominance that was radiating off these two men was overwhelming and I was literally caught between the two.

Damn, I need that beer now.
