《Bad Intentions》Three

It was finally the last class of the day, Biology. And I couldn't be happier, because this day was dragging on.

I walked into classroom with Kayla, it was great to have the last class together because once the bell rung we would be out of here ASAP and on our way to my house to eat junk food and binge watch Netflix.

The classroom was starting to fill up with other students, so Kayla and I decided to take our seats near the middle of the classroom. Kayla took the seat on my left.

I pulled out my notebook and pen placing it on my desk when I heard my name being called. I looked up to see Nate making his way towards us.

Damn it.

I thought one class would be fine, but two? What is my luck?

It's a good thing Kayla is here with me. The seat behind Kayla and myself were empty and guess what, Nate was making his way to the one behind me.

I felt a brush of air behind me just as Nate stopped in his tracks to the seat. He narrowed his eyes over my shoulder.

"Seat is taken, man." I heard a familiar deep voice say from behind me.

Nate turned and made his way to the seat that was behind Kayla. I was curious as to who took the seat behind me and saved me.

A sign in sheet was being passed around the classroom before the lesson started. When it finally got to me I signed and turned around to see who the person was as I passed the sheet. Perfect excuse to be nosy.

Familiar hazel eyes were looked at me intensely.

"You again?" The questioned slipped out of my lips before I could stop them.

Jace arched his eyebrow. "Happy to see me, I see." A smirk formed on his lips.

I rolled my eyes. "Quiet the opposite."

"Mhm." He hummed and leaned in slightly, enough to cause my cheeks to redden. "Your eyes tell me something different." He then reached and grabbed the piece of paper out of my hand, allowing his fingers to brush against my hand causing tingles to crawl up my arm.

I turned around in my seat to face the front of classroom to hide my flamed cheeks, but not before catching Nate's eyes.

His eyes held annoyance, but why? Did he have a reason to be annoyed? And at what?

The lesson proceeded and I was glad when the final bell rung signaling that the day has ending. Not that I don't like biology or anything, I just need to get out of here.

I quickly gathered my things and literally sprinted out of the classroom before anyone could get a hold of me, meaning Nate.

I still haven't processed the fact that he was back in town and actually in my classes. Plus, the fact that he's trying so hard to rebuild a friendship that has faded over the pass two years all in one day was too much for me to handle.

"Leah! Leah, wait up! You know I suck at running!" I turned around to see Kayla trying to catch up. I stopped and waited for her.

"Sorry Kay. I just needed to get out of there." I apologized.

When Kayla finally caught up, she was out of breath. "Did you forget you rode with me today?" She asked between breaths. "Make me run like that again and I'll make your ass walk home."

"I rather walk then almost die every time I get into a car with you." I retorted.

"Hey! I'm not that bad!" She defended.

"Shall I remind you of this morning?" I asked as we entered the busy school parking lot.

"Still not my fault. I can't help that the lights turn red just as I'm crossing over."

"Sure, just as you were crossing over. It has nothing to with the fact that you saw the red light and just kept going, even in on coming traffic." I mocked.

"Whatever." She waved her hand dismissively. We walked up to her car and she just unlocked her side only. I raised an eyebrow at her. "Oh, since I'm such a horrible driver I didn't think you would want a ride home."

I rolled my eyes as I'm not in the mood for this. "Just open the damn door."

"Feisty." Kayla said as she unlocked the door.

"Sorry Kay." I apologized as I slid into the passenger seat. "It's just been a long day."

Kayla nodded and pulled out of the parking lot. "How does it feel to have Nate back?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know. He acts like my confession never happens. He acts like he never broke my heart." I looked out the window at the passing greenery. "It would have been better if he just stayed away for a few more years. Every time I look at him I flash back to that moment two years ago."

Kayla didn't say anything and she didn't have to. She knew that her silence was what I needed in the moment.

"So, should I asked about this fake boyfriend situation?" Kayla asked breaking the silence after a few moments.

I groaned. "Shit, I forgot about that." I rubbed my forehead trying to rid of the headache that was creeping up.

"Are you just gonna tell him the truth?"

"Hell no. And look like a freaking idiot? I'm not doing that."

"Then what are you going to do?" She questioned.

"I don't know." I sighed as Kayla pulled into my driveway.

Unfortunately, Kayla couldn't stay today. She had to go and help her mom at home. They were redecorating and today they needed to finish up painting. Mind you, they have been on this project for the past six months.

I bid Kayla a goodbye and went inside. My mom wasn't home, she was still at work. So I decided to go straight to my room.

I fell onto my bed and was thankful for the warm comfy pillows. I let my mind replay everything that happened today.

There is no way I'll find a boyfriend to convince Nate that I've moved on. And when he finds out I'll look like a fool.

I'm so screwed.

****

"You look like shit." Kayla finally told me as we walked through the school's parking lot.

"Thanks." I said sarcastically. Last night, I fell asleep while racking my brain for ideas about this stupid situation I put myself in and didn't put an alarm on. So, this morning when my eyes finally decide to open, I had ten minutes to get ready to be at school in time. Talk about a struggle.

We walked into the hallway. Kayla had to get to her class early, something about finding the right seat. I walked up to my locker and placed the books I don't need in there. I closed my locker and that's when I caught sight of Nate entering the hallway.

Shit.

I looked around to find an escape and then my eyes landing on one person I knew. "Jace!" I called out. He looked up from the person he was talk to and at me.

I walked over to him, which caused him to arch an eyebrow. I grabbed his arm and pulled him away walking pass Nate in the process.

I have no clue what I'm doing.

I'm an idiot, I know that.

And right now, I'm completely screwed.
