《Bad Intentions》Two

Shocked coarse through me as I looked at the person standing in front of me. Nate Rylan stood before me, my childhood friend and first love. And I'm pretty sure my jaw just hit the ground.

"Earth to Leah." I heard him say snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Oh, sorry." I said plastering a smile onto my face. Nate smiled and pulled me into a hug. I just stood there like an idiot not knowing what to do. "What are you doing here?" I asked when he pulled away.

"I go to school here." He answered easily.

"That's not what I meant. I mea-" I tried to explain, but he cut me off.

"I know what you mean Leah. I just moved back a few weeks ago and now I'm here to finish off high school with everyone."

"Wow, that's great!" I said with fake enthusiasm. My first love moved back to town after two years without saying a word to anyone. This is great.

I couldn't help, but glance over him briefly. Is it possible for someone to get hotter? Nate is definitely different from the last time I saw him two years ago. His light brown hair was slightly messy giving it 'I just rolled out of bed' look. His dark blue eyes were filled with excitement and his jawline as sharp as ever. He definitely got taller and more muscular.

Stop it, Leah. This is the guy who broke your heart two years ago.

Why do I have to keep reminding myself of that?

"Well, welcome back!" I told him which caused him to smile. His eyes wonder over my shoulder.

"Kayla! I didn't even see you there." He stated. I totally forgot that Kayla was even here, some best friend I am.

Nate and Kayla exchange greetings just as the warning bell rung.

"I have to get going, don't want to be late for class." Nate said. "Hopefully, we have some classes together."

"Hopefully." Kayla and I said in unison causing Nate to chuckle.

"I'll see you around guys. Let's sit together at lunch."

"Sure!" Kayla said quickly until she realized to what she agreed to. I wanted to smack her.

"See you there." Nate waved and walked in the opposite direction. Kayla and I waved back.

"I'm going to kill you." I told Kayla as we power walked to our next period.

"I'm sorry, It just slipped out of my mouth!"

"Next time, I'll just duck tape it shut." I said as we entered the classroom.

I guess sitting a lunch once with Nate won't hurt.

"Cheese pizza or fries?" I asked Kayla.

"Does it matter? There both greasy and good."

"You're right. I'll get both then." We we're currently standing in lunch line deciding what to get. We went through a few more periods. Turns out Nate and I have third period which is English together. Fourth period which is World History, I have Jace there also and guess where he sat this time? Right behind me again. At least this time I didn't pay any mind to him.

"You get pizza, I'll get fries and we share." Kayla offered as we were a few steps away from grabbing our food.

"Sounds like a plan to me. As long as I get food."

"When do you not want food?" She questioned as we grab our items.

"When I'm sleeping." I answered.

Kayla snorted. "That's a lie. You dream about food too. Remember that one time I caught you chewing on your pillow while you were sleeping because you though it was fried chicken?"

"Hey! In my defense, I was craving fried chicken before I went to bed." I told her as we got our seats at a table.

"Still Leah, a pillow?"

"Yes and it was quite delicious." I told her taking a fry off her plate causing Kayla to shake her head.

I cut the cheese pizza in half and handed it to Kayla. The greasy goodness looked so good at the moment I just needed to scarf it down. I lifted the piece to my mouth and just as I was about to take a bite, I heard my name being called.

"Hey Leah!" I heard a voice call. Looking up I saw Nate making his way to our table. Crap, I forgot he wanted to sit with us.

Nate took the sit directly in front of me and next to Kayla. "Hey Nate." I greeted with a plastered smile.

"I though I would never find you guys." Nate said placing his tray on the table. "Hey Kayla." He greeted.

"Hey." Kayla squeaked causing me to raise an eyebrow towards her and she just shake her head

"Well, you found us." I told him and he nodded.

We ate in silence for awhile. This was so awkward for me, I never thought I would see Nate again and now he's sitting directly in front of me eating. I didn't know how to react, or what to say.

Kayla eyes landed on me and she mouthed 'Say something.'

"Why did you move back?" I asked catching Nate off guard causing him to choke on his water.

Really subtle, Leah.

You can't blame me, I was extremely curious and the question just slipped out.

"My dad's company is expanding there business and wanted to open up an office here. They wanted him to be the one to over look everything." Nate answered.

I nodded. "How are your parents?" I asked. Nate parents where literally like a second set of parents for me. I would spend the night at there house, we would have dinner together, they would even take me with them on little trips.

"They're good. Excited to be back." He answered taking a sip of his water.

"Don't you miss Florida?" Kayla asked. Florida is where Nate moved away to two years ago.

"I do miss the friends I made, but I'm glad to be back. I've missed my old town and everyone." Nate's eyes landed on me when he said 'everyone'. An unknown emotion flashed through his eyes and disappeared just as fast at it came.

"So Leah." Nate started. "Are you dating anyone?" He asked bluntly looking at me intently.

That caused me to choke on my drink. "I'm sorry?" I coughed out.

"I mean have you been dating." Nate said switching his tone.

Kayla looked at me in panic, her eyes shifting between Nate and I.

What was I suppose to say?

No, you broke my heart two years ago and I have never dated a single soul since? That would make me look pathetic.

"Actually, I'm currently dating someone." The lie slip through my lips.

Kayla gaped at me and Nate's eyes narrowed slightly. "Really?" He asked.

I nodded. "It's only been a couple of weeks, but he makes me feel so happy." I added to the lie.

Nate didn't look too convinced. "What's his name? Does he go here?"

Before I could say anything the bell rung signaling the end of lunch. Saved by the bell. Literally.

I grabbed my tray and backpack and stood up. "See you later, Nate!" I yelled walking away from the table quickly.

Once in the hallway, I was able to take a deep breath and then it hit me.

What the hell did I just do?

"Leah! What was that?" Kayla asked finding me in the hall.

"I don't know." I muttered. "I didn't want to look like a loser."

"Nate is going to eventually find out that you don't have a boyfriend."

I looked at Kayla. "Not if I actually find one."

Kayla just looked at me. "And where are you going to find one? He's not gonna just fall from the sky."

She's right.

Where was I going to find this fake boyfriend I needed?
