《The Artist & The Q.B.》Ch. 39

The next day we leave to have a late breakfast, because Mya, who I'm starting to think wasn't alone with last night, didn't get up until 9:30. We leave the house around 10:30 and go to a place that is a tradition in The Marshall household. From what I'm told they come here every time they're in town. We are seated quickly and I start reading through the menu as the guys watch the television in the restaurant and start to discuss football. I try to get Mya's attention but she's in her own little world. Finally, I kick her underneath the table. She glances up and rubs her shin, looking at me accusingly.

I give her an irritated look and lean towards her. "So?"

She nods slightly and tries not to smile. "So, yeah."

"Are the omelets any good here?" I ask, inadvertently asking for details about her night with Easton.

She moans, "Absolutely fantastic."

I bounce in my seat excitedly and clap. "Yay!"

Mya gives me a warning look and I realize everyone at the table is looking at me. Trying to play it off I say, "I know what I'm getting." And close my menu.

She leans closer and motions for me to do the same. "He asked me to move in with him."

"He lives in Texas." I state, nervous she will be leaving.

"He's buying a place near Truex." She assures me.

"Are you going to do it?"

She sits back in her chair and nods, smiling happily. "Yes."

"Mya, I think its awesome. Honestly, couldn't be happier for you." Who am I to lecture someone on rushing into things. If it feels right, then thats all that matters.

Her eyes, narrow. "You were never this supportive when I was with Tate."

I shrug, "I must've been very intuitive." I reply, smugly.

"Or now that you're in love you believe in it." She states, knowingly.

I smile, "Or that." I say, agreeing.

Since, we seem to be confiding in each other I tell her, "Truex wants to have a baby." I confess, watching her reaction of glee light up her face.

"And? Am I going to be an aunt?" She asks, loud enough to draw attention.

"Mya!"

"Shit! Sorry!" She yells, "It was an accident."

"You're pregnant?" Kevin asks, excitedly.

"Not yet. Soon though, we hope." Truex answers for me, as I drill holes into Mya's stupid face.

"We hope?" Mya questions, looking at me like I'm unrecognizable.

I let out a long sigh. "Yes, we." I say, to her.

She nods with tears in her eyes, "You'll be a great mom."

"Thank you." I whisper as the waitress comes to take our orders. "By the way if you need any advice about taking a pregnancy test, Truex is your man."

"Oh, yeah?" Take a lot of pregnancy test in your day?" Easton asks, teasingly.

"Its common sense to some people." He smirks, taking a drink of his coffee.

I smile, "To me it wasn't." I admit.

"How did you mess that up?" Mya asks in disbelief.

"I didn't take the cap off." I laugh, just thinking about it is funny.

"You doofus. Just looking at them its pretty clear its plastic. How would that have worked?"

"I didn't read the box and I thought it was a little strange so I peed a little on the little windows too. Anyways, not preggers."

"Its still early." Mya states, thinking back over our relationship timeline. "You could very well be pregnant, its just not far enough along yet."

"True, we'll see that happens." I shrug.

After Breakfast we decide to go to an adult game park, complete with Go Karts, putt-putt golf and video games. And like a switch my normal happy existence with Truex, is flipped. Mya's comment about me might being pregnant has turned Truex into a lunatic. On the way to the car after breakfast and even in the parking lot here, Truex held my upper arm, like he was making sure I didn't fall. I let that one slide. Then someone accidentally bumped me while standing in line to pay for our passes and he pushed the man and made him apologize. Now, I'm arguing with him over my right to drive the Go Karts.

"Its not going to happen." He states, pulling me away form the track.

"Stop, it! I want to at least watch everyone else have fun." I complain.

He finally listens and we make our way back to the Go carts. "Not too close to the fence." He orders.

"Truex! You're insane." I mutter, standing a couple feet from the fence. "Go, race." I tell him, not needing a babysitter.

"I'll stay with you." He replies.

I roll my eyes and watch in jealousy the other three have a fun time. They make their way to us and they all are grining and laughing over Truex's behavior. "Don't worry it's normal. I was the same way." Kevin says, patting my head lovingly.

"You did this to your wife even though she wasn't pregnant." I ask, sarcastically.

"You could be." Truex argues.

"And you could be entered into an institution." I reply, pointedly.

"Alright, lets do something that pregnant people can do." Easton suggests, looking at Truex not knowing what he will allow and what he wont. "Putt-putt?" He suggests.

Truex looks over to the course. "Its kinda hot and not much shade." He comments, out-loud.

"Okay, enough. We're going." I say, pulling him along with the rest of us to the hut to get golf balls and putters, I pick pink and Mya picks purple. Next she asks, Truex and I answer for him. "Blue balls for him, please. That way he can get used to it."

Easton laughs the hardest, as he gets a red set and Kevin a green. "You sir are in a whole mess of trouble."

"Truex glares at Easton, "You laugh now, but wait until it happens to you."

"I guarantee he won't be this crazy." I say, in Easton's defense.

"Yeah, no way." Easton states, throwing his arm around me as we walk to the course.

"Get your arm off of her, she could trip." He states, taking my arm in his hand again.

"I won't survive this. Kevin beat some sense into your boy." I beg.

"Let her enjoy herself. Stress is bad for the fetus." Kevin smirks, making Truex tense up.

"There is no fetus." I mutter, but grin at Kevins joke.

The rest of the day, Truex is still cautious with me and overbearing, but we enjoy our last day with his father and go back to the house to be ready for our flight back to California. "I better go make sure everything is packed."

Truex stops me. "I'll do it. Go rest, I'll bring you a water." I roll my eyes but smirk as he does what he thinks best. I sigh and Kevin wraps my arms around my shoulders.

"Be patient." He says, smirking at his son.

"He's going to make the best dad. Just like you." I say, elbowing him in the side gently.

"He will." He agrees.

"He loves you very much." He states, knowingly.

I smile. "He does."

"And you love him."

"More and more everyday." I reply, watching as Truex comes towards up with a water some crackers and pillow.

"Come on. I put the history channel on and I got you snacks and a pillow to prop your feet."

"So, adorable." I say, moving to him to let him dote on me. What the hell, if this helps him then so be it. There are worst things in life than being loved.
